@piterbread well,i learn in a simple way through learning phrases,words,reading and of course listening.that's all.i try to skip the grammar rules only reading the examples of sentences for instance in books of grammar.if you want,you can buy macmillan english dictionary for advanced learners and cambridge comprehensive english guide,they're also useful.i use it.but when reading them try to not focus attention on grammar words such as:verb,noun,and so on.
This is actually good advice for American kids learning English as their only language.
There is a lot of literary pretentiousness in our schools. Teachers assign famous or politically correct texts that are almost guaranteed to turn off most of the class. I say stick to what is fun and popular.
