Amen brother.....the Bishop needs to know the difference between moral laws and ceremonial laws. Even the Catholic church wouldn't allow women into their church with pants on in the early seventies.

Please forgive me if I in anyway gave the impression that I was using the Word of God for some self serving means, I was just trying to share a bible principle. That the subject of modest apparel will only appeal to women who are professing godliness. I gave I Timothy 2:9,10 and I Peter 3:5 as a reference to this very principle. Well he broke that down!? It really doesn't make sense to whole everyone to verse 5 and ignore all the other verses. What my Pastor always says is what is on the inside will show up on the outside. In the new testament we are told to dress in modest apparrell, and if God's spirit is living on the inside of you, the holy spirit will check you, no one will have to do it for you.

Hahahaha It's funny how all these people are trying to justify wearing pants. Deuteronomy 22:5 and all the other scriptures can't be misguided. If you look in Revelation there are scriptures even referring to the future and the present. In the 1800s there were no women wearing pants because they were made for men. Using my education!!!! Back then women worked in the house and men worked in the field. Men used pants because they fit the hard labor.

Everybody has they own point of view but the doctrine set before us by Bishop Mason taught against wearing pants and make so any member teaching or preaching against the the churches doctrine is not save through not obeying the doctrine set out before us. We can debate all day about this but I remind you of the scarifice Paul talks about in Romans 12:1 if the saint is right about its a sin and dont where them nothing will happen but you wear them and your wrong may god have mercy on your soul.
Now I respected GE but the man was off on this message, I have to disagree with that because God doesn't want his people looking any kind of way. If your pants are too tight or dress and a lot of cleavage showing does that not send the wrong message? And the word "divers" does not mean different, but "several" "many" etc. And yes women wearing pants will not send them to hell but they will miss out on many spiritual insights with God. Maybe the "bishop" needs to study his Bible some more. Even though the Bible does not mention P-A-N-T-S, it does mention B-R-E-E-C-H-E-S which means P-A-N-T-S. Men in Bible times wore breeches under their garments. When they "gird up their loins" to go into battle, they tucked in their flowing garments into their belts so they could move about more easily. Women, however, did not wear breeches! Exodus 28:42; 39:28; Leviticus 6:10; 16:4; Ezekiel 44:18 mention breeches.
I am sorry to correct everyone, but so is this study relative to hermeneutics which is to study the Bible from a historical and practical standpoint. In Deuteronomy 22:5, which discusses the scripture of women not wearing anything pertaining to a man, Moses was giving direction to the children of Israel prior to going to war. The purpose of this command during that time was so that the women and children would be separated and not be killed as a result of miscommunication in garment.
Also to add to my above comment, Matthew 5:17 states, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." More importantly is the scripture in Matthew 15:9, where Jesus addresses the Pharisees concerning their judgmental rituals and regulations. For it states, "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." It is important to rightly divide the word of truth to avoid any possible shame as workmen.

I don't think anybody said that salvation has to do with pants or skirts. One is saved when he or she obeys the gospel. In other words, obey the death (repent), burial (baptism), and resurrection (receive the Holy Ghost) of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose. We must follow is example by repenting, being baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost.
To throw out this scripture would mean that it would be okay for the Bishop to get up and preach with a dress on! The congregation would think it very strange because in today’s society everyone correctly associates a dress as being a woman’s garment. A sister that doesn't wear pants is no more bound under law than a brother that doesn't wear dresses. If you are a sister with this question on your heart, pray the Lord will show you the Spirit behind this scripture and how He sees it.

@FitnessMinded Bishop Patterson is not God. Preaching what people want to hear draws a crowd. It does not always happen with the truth. Paul to the people what it was going to take to be saved and their hearts were pricked. Stephen told them the same thing and he was stoned. People don't want the truth. They want what makes them feel good. The Paul said if any man tell you any other thing than what the gospel says Let him be a curse. A watered down gospel sells.

There was no such thing as trousers in those days...so there is no point trying to fit trousers into historical eastern culture. Today in the WEST a man's garment is trousers. Females only started wearing trousers in the late 20th century because of the feminism act- again check the spirit behind it! women wanted to be more like men for equal rights...

Amen brother.....the Bishop needs to know the difference between moral laws and ceremonial laws. Even the Catholic church wouldn't allow women into their church with pants on in the early seventies.
If you truly have salvation on the inside it wil show up on your outside. God has called us to be separate not to conform to the worlds logic.

Love doesn't just cover, as in what? Love was the reason god sent his son to die on the cross. However in his sacrifice,God removes sin, it is how we are justified,why must sin be removed? Because it is what condemns us and separates us from God. You are saying God loves, but he is not JUST. If God was not Just he would be as corrupt as any mortal man and that is the god you represent. Love is why God disciplines us, you are seriosly with out a Father..Hebrews 12:10.

That the subject of modest apparel will only appeal to women who are professing godliness. I gave I Timothy 2:9,10 and I Peter 3:5 as a reference to this very principle. If you look in Revelation there are scriptures even referring to the future and the present. In the 1800s there were no women wearing pants because they were made for men. Using my education!!!! Maybe the "bishop" needs to study his Bible some more. Even though the Bible does not mention P-A-N-T-S, it does mention B-R-E-E-C-H-E-S which means P-A-N-T-S. Men in Bible times wore breeches under their garments. When they "gird up their loins" to go into battle, they tucked in their flowing garments into their belts so they could move about more easily. Women, however, did not wear breeches! Exodus 28:42; 39:28; Leviticus 6:10; 16:4; Ezekiel 44:18 mention breeches.

I am sorry to correct everyone, but so is this study relative to hermeneutics which is to study the Bible from a historical and practical standpoint. In Deuteronomy 22:5, which discusses the scripture of women not wearing anything pertaining to a man, Moses was giving direction to the children of Israel prior to going to war. The purpose of this command during that time was so that the women and children would be separated and not be killed as a result of miscommunication in garment.

More importantly is the scripture in Matthew 15:9, where Jesus addresses the Pharisees concerning their judgmental rituals and regulations. For it states, "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." It is important to rightly divide the word of truth to avoid any possible shame as workmen.

In other words, obey the death (repent), burial (baptism), and resurrection (receive the Holy Ghost) of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose. We must follow is example by repenting, being baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost.

To throw out this scripture would mean that it would be okay for the Bishop to get up and preach with a dress on! The congregation would think it very strange because in today’s society everyone correctly associates a dress as being a woman’s garment. A sister that doesn't wear pants is no more bound under law than a brother that doesn't wear dresses. If you are a sister with this question on your heart, pray the Lord will show you the Spirit behind this scripture and how He sees it.

I thank God for His Holy Word, I thank God for the late Bishop G.E. Patterson for this message, & I thank Christ Jesus for the blood, for we are no longer bound by the mosaic law unto death, we are free through the blood of Jesus Christ. Having a standard is fine, but if the belief causes people to feel strangled or takes away from the real meaning of what salvation is, then the rule and the custom needs to be changed or altered.

@ceesure that was the Law of the Land at that time. I mean i don't knock anyone for wearing skirts. I wear pants and people can clearly distinguish me from a "worldly" person. I am still going to Heaven, whether I wear pants or skirts. That is why alot of people stay out of church (and this has nothing to do with you so please don't take this at heart) but you have so many people in church that are focus on Clothes that they miss the part of reaching the Soul which is all that matters.

Paul to the people what it was going to take to be saved and their hearts were pricked. Stephen told them the same thing and he was stoned. People don't want the truth. They want what makes them feel good. The Paul said if any man tell you any other thing than what the gospel says Let him be a curse. A watered down gospel sells.

ask the holy spirit to clothes you. Ask God what He thinks. God does not contradict himself. When it comes to God everything in his presence has to be holy or it will be consumed. Look at the High Priest on the day of atonement. Look at the apparel God dressed Him in.if u can't stand skirts becoz of ur pride then there's the problem. All eyes shouldn't be on u baby, but Jesus. There was no such thing as trousers in those days...so there is no point trying to fit trousers into historical eastern culture. Today in the WEST a man's garment is trousers. all I would say really is let's keep the focus on Jesus. If I went to a Church and all the Pastor had to talk about was 'legalistic churches who teach that women shouldn't wear trousers..and that they old fashioned ect ect'...then I would have a problem. What part of that message came from God. What part of that message would bring people to Christ? I just heard a whole heap of scriptures taken out of their context.... I truly believe because Pastor's like these the Church of God looks like the World, now days no one can distinguished a church from the world because they want the church to be full. God is looking for real folks who will stand for holiness from the inside and outside...

Love your ceremony. I just have one question when preaching the truth just preach the truth. Why go on to condemn a certain man. Why do you pass on a rumor that you can not prove to be or not to be correct. Leave the rumors that you can not prove alone. That's just to boost your preaching to condemn a certain man or to give you more ratings. God bless you and just preach the word and whoever it condemns it condemns and whoever it helps it will help.
