The only reason I can come up with as to why they jumped out of the boat would be that it might of run out of gas, the boat might of lost power somehow, maybe the engine died from lack of air(when it submerged after it passed the dam), the boat didn't have the strength to push against the currents? Or they just thought they could reath land faster if they swam it rather than ride it out in a boat. I don't have a clue, but great episode. Thanks for uploading it. 5 Star
@Goodie8486, Because they obviously don't think that's necessary or they think it's too expensive to put one up, Either way, I think they're COMPLETELY f**ked in the head!!!
why don't they have some sort of "safety barrier" or fence or something to prevent everyday tourist and boaters from being able to enter these waters?
I'm glad their okay, but why in the world is boating even allowed that close to the falls? I mean if it's close enough that people can go bast the gates then clearly it's too close.
It's a shame it wasn't daylight or at least that the falls were well lit because about 200 yards upstream from the falls there is a barge that got loose and the crew aboard lowered the bay doors and got them stuck in the bed of the river. If they had reached that they could have gotten out of their boat and waited there for a helicopter just like the original crew of the barge did.
you fuckin punks ... datz not stupidity ... datz da limit of dareness ... they have da guts to go there ... ya ppl jus went dere to se falls dey went dere to conquer them .... nd da fire fighters ... they were just amazing ... they are da real heros ...HATS OFF TO THEM
The current gets stronger as you move towards the falls, and it goes straight down. I was down there not long ago and people were swimming less than 3/4 mile from the falls...in the last 1/4 mile, the current moves about 15 mph (doesn`t sound like a lot, but you could be down the falls in less than 5 minutes)
My grandparents live in Niagara Falls Ontario spent many days there... I don't remember this rescue but there have been a few... Thanks for the upload :)
On top of that, I was about 1 when this segement aired, just turned 18 on the 30th of Augst and went to Niagara Falls on the 6th of August, looking at this clip shows how much Niagara Falls bulit up in 17 years, today, the Minolta Tower was all alone now, it's surrounded by other buildings.
Thank god for lettin them have another day

I can't even imagine trying to swim in those rapids. They're insane although on TV they don't seem as crazy as they do in real life.

I think dying by fire is the worst way to go, but that's b/c someone in my family was taken by flames. Not even accidentally either. He was murdered.
Any death by intentional violence is the worst way to go, b/c it's not part of God's original plan. He lets it happen-he doesn't condone it.
Sometimes I think it's too bad human beings were put in charge of "free choice."
Some of them f* it up in such a major way. : /

whats a gash? because it says she had a deep gash in her leeg from the boats prop
sife12345 4 years ago
That means the she was cut by the boat's propeller when she just in the water.
allgood2000 4 years ago
That was scary But I'm glad their okay
lizzykat2 4 years ago
Several people have survived falls down Niagara Falls but never on a boat.
itsalleternal 4 years ago 2
I know one of the women had a gash on her leg
that was scary don't you think
lizzykat2 4 years ago
She got the gash because she hit her leg on the propeller when she jumped out of the boat. It wasn't because of the rapids.

Why do they let people swim so close to the edge???
Also, to put it another way 15 mph is FASTER than the BEST marathon runners.

Does anyone else notice the flash of light right as their boat is going over the edge of the Falls? Wonder what it was...camera flash?
