Looks like a very stable OS, easy to navigate through and well built. I think this tablet is a step above the Android tablets out right now. I was thinking about getting the Galaxy tab 10.1 But I'm going get this instead
i bought an ipad 2 the other day. honestly. i love every tablet. if i could get all of them i'd be happy. the ipad just works better for me. honestly i'm really impressed with this. as long as they fix the lag. but this is great! hope it does well.
Good demo. Glad to see Palm (errr.. HP) is standing by quality. Their OS may be little guys compared to others, but w/ a good product that can and should change. I stopped by a store the other day and played with the Motorola Xoom with Android. I was very disappointed with the user interface, looks like they just 'put it out' without any real consideration to user experience. Palm's on the right track.
The animation of WebOS definitely seems more on par with iOS. Android generally is slow and clunky from all the times I've tried it, over several new devices even.
Im glad companies are trying to compete with Apple, it makes Apple work harder and these companies work harder to make better products, which means us consumers get cheaper prices for products with better features :D
I would rather wait for all the tablets to be out and make my final judgement. Cause pretty much every tablet coming out is a iPad killer, more precisly the old iPad (iPad 2 is coming out quite soon, so its not really a fair comparason). Anyways, all tablets are gonna have its flaws and strong points. It really depends of how the user uses it and what for.
Ok this is probably an early build which explains the lag but damn what a nice looking OS! Finally someone who doesn't just copy the app homescreen from Apple and really tries to innovate. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
@AdamhadierTV Windows Phone 7 doesn't have 'tons' of applications, at least not relative to iOS and Android. Sure, they have 6,500 or so(last time I checked) but the iPhone has something like 350,000 available and Android is at around 200,000 and rising fast. To be perfectly honest, as much as the interface on Windows Phone 7 looks good, that's all they have right now. If I wanted a tablet and didn't want Android, I'd choose WebOS over any WP7 tablet if one was available.
This looks good, but there are two major issues I have with it. Firstly, it's not running Android. In all seriousness though, WebOS hasn't got many applications available to use on it and that puts me off totally and is where Android really does well.
Secondly(and not really a 'real' issue) is the branding; Palm was a nice consumer brand. I think HP and I think desktop computers for business users. They really should've kept the Palm brand just given it the resources it needed to do well.
@britishcoder, All the more reason Microsoft need to wake up and put WP7 on a tablet. I admit, I think WebOS is attractive and the multitasking management works great but people will get bored after a while. WP7 may not be a feature-rich OS (yet) but it already has a dynamic eco-system as well as tons of apps and games.
Robert, I agree with you on the Xoom is nice but overpriced @ $800. Plus you have to get a 1 month data plan to get wifi, WTF with that (?)! Was going to get Xoom if it stayed @ around $500 but not now! Agree its a BIG #FAIL!
This HP TouchPad on the other hand has got my interest because of your Tweets yesterday & this YouTube I'm watching now. Big factor is if they can keep the unit at the $500 range and no gimmics on getting the wifi.
I am truly encouraged by this. This looks like the first really complete and sophisticated challenge to the iPad, and I am an iPad lover. Just by this post I am tempted to spend money on one.
wow he's great! and the touchpad looks really cool...

I think iOS is more fluid.. it's really only the multitasking that this has over the iPad. maybe iOS 5 will address it.

@YUPnNOPE Watch any video of WebOS on a pre2 or a pre3 and you'll see how smooth the the os really is.

google should copy the touch to share(even though chrome to phone is the same thing) but the nexus s could do this with NFC.
