1. Archery is divided in: bare bow, recurve, compound. And this is for good reason. I have tried all types of archery and let me tell you that all of them require the archery skills that you say only the bare bow require.
2. Only recurve archery is accepted as an olympic sport because is more popular than bare bow; compound bow is not accepted because is considered to be too technological.
If you don't like Olympic archery, then don't watch it, don't do it. Ignore it, if you will. But please, I am so tired of angry traditional archers. It's really getting old.
The organisation of the Olympics IS NOT reading youtube messages, to go look and see what's new, what's hot in sport to consider eventual new disciplines in the next Olympics.
I'v watched a lot of videos the last weeks, and read a lot of reactions of people. It is really really unbelievable how many times olympic archers are attaced by traditional bow archers.
Leave us alone!!! We're good people, please don't judge.
"as far as I'm concerned, any 'release-aid' or sight or other gizmo is cheating,"
Robinofleiceste.....who is it cheating against? You said using stabilizers and sights is cheating, but how can it be cheating if your competition is using the same equipment?
theres no release aid in olympic archery... barebow archers struggle to hit 70m which is olympic distance... they do it fair play but are no where near as accurate as these guys who by the way trained for years to be this accurate... lets see u pick up a "cheating" bow and do what they do
olympic archery is stupid, if your using stabilisers and sights your not using the skills that make archery an impressive sport. as far as I'm concerned, any 'release-aid' or sight or other gizmo is cheating, only shooting with barebow can be considered a real archery skill, otherwise its something else. if you have to be so precise with complex technology, you may as well use a gun.
of course it does take a lot of skill, but when shooting without all the gizmo's, the human body is doing the same tasks for itself. What I'm saying is, traditional barebow arhcery takes far more skill, yet is ignored at olympic level completely, but this kind of cheating is accpeted as mainstream.
if its all about improving accuracy with technology, then guns are the answer, if its about human skill getting an arrow on to your target, use a real bow with no cheat functions!
You may train years and years, day in, day out with a traditional bow. Nobody will ever shoot a 1350 at a FITA-round with a traditional bow.
You can compare Traditional archery and Olympic archery only to a certain extent. Two things, for example, that are not to be compared are results (in points) and level. No disrespect towards Traditional archery, I like it as well, I only prefer Olympic archery.

You have no idea how complex recurve archery is. It takes massive amounts of skill, consistency and concentration.
