I have looked at history. The story of mankind speaks for itself. I was never a general in any of the armies in any of the wars that were ever fought. I never cheered on Syria, Jordan, and Egypt when they used soviet-equipped armies to attack Israel. When they lost and refused to agree to an armistice, I didn't jump out of my seat and cheer knowing another conflict was inevitable. I didn't celebrate when Arafat missed the best opportunity he had to save the Palestinians. They did it themselves.
O.K., I take it back. Technically speaking, there is an occupation. I think, however, if Israel had not been drawn into war in 1948 with Jordan, Egypt, and Syria attacking her from all sides; and, if after they had been defeated by a moderately armed Israelis force they would have signed the armistice, there would not have been what is technically referred to as an 'occupation,' today. So you are right, there is an occupation.
On the matter concerning the term 'ethnocentric Zionist,' I only have a minor qualm about that. It seems artificially redundant for the purpose of calling people names. If it wasn't for Zionism, the Jews would probably have just shrugged their shoulders when boatloads of them were turned back and then later perished at sea. Or, they could have said, 'Hitler lost the war, but he beat us. Let's not continue being the ethnicity we are and just remain trapped in Europe. Let's not start a new nation.
Americans were already in America before they defeated England in the War of Independence. However, When new settlers reached America's shores by boat, they discovered native Americans. That indigenous population was decimated completely. Would you say that New Englanders were ethnocentric or that they had an occupation going? I don't think Israelis want to kill every last Arab like Anglos killed every last Indian. If extreme Orthodox Jews do, then the Israelis police will have to stop that.
If the Israelis continued expanding their settlements past the trans-Jordan, there would still be no guarantee that they could rest assured they would not be attacked from some force beyond their realm. Until every mosque in their realm erects a statue of a fat Buddha with the head of Ariel Sharon for worshipers to kiss on the ass before prayer, I would not grant anybody an inch of territory.
The Israelis have already pulled out of Gaza. They pulled out of Gaza a year before they bombed the hell out of it. I think the next time they bomb, it will be more than just the hell in it that gets bombed out of it. I think a little of what is going to get the hell bombed out of it will be in Iran, itself.
Yes, many of the settlers, or some (at least) are extreme right wingers. There is a debate going on right now among the Israelis about how far they will need to bend in order to secure a deal. The hard part will be having realistic expectations that the other side would be able to deliver on the terms and conditions made in any deal. In order for Abbas and West Bankers to control maniacs, they would need the resources to beef up their police force. Then you have Hamas with Iranian missiles.
I can predict what will happen to Gaza and explain why. Gaza is separated from the West Bank by a corridor of land that is part of Israel. Gaza is also close to the Sinai, the territory given back to the Egyptians after the Camp David Agreement. Worse than that, it has a shoreline easily accessible to maritime traffic. If there is any hope of a Palestinian state, it will not include having the Gaza Strip connecting to the West Bank. Egypt won't give Palestinians an inch beyond Gaza into Sinai..
And Jordan will not give an inch to the Palestinians to broaden the boundaries of the West Bank. Any new state will have to settle for what room is currently available in the West Bank. The new state will not be allowed to have an army. However, it will need a beefed up police force just to keep order within its borders. Gaza's Iranian missiles will have to go, and Iran will have to agree to inspections of its nuclear facilities. Once cleared of weapons, Palestinians will be able to live there.
Everyone in Lebanon was expecting the March 8th coalition to win. That coalition contains the so-called Haz-bin-olla or His-bolla (of-one-day-olda-granola). Either way, and anyway, they lost the election. The Western-backed coalition won instead. Something no-one was expecting to happen. On June 12, Iran will elect a new President. Whoever is elected better be prepared to agree to inspections. Iran cannot build a nuke without bringing about a war. Nuclear power for electricity is acceptable.
When all threats have been neutralized, then the new double state of Israel-Palestine can learn to work together and prosper together in peaceful co-existence. Syria will eventually get its Golan Heights back; however, they will have to reign in the Hazbinolla (as in 'has-been'). This sorry group of thugs cannot continue to be allowed to aim its lethal rockets at Israel any more. Syria will be subject to attack by Israel as long as it refuses to act. If all this gets done there will be peace.
The only reason why they would be motivated to take more territory in the region would not be because they believed they were God's children; rather, it would be to prevent their children from being sent up to see God. Since I really don't believe there is any evidence that there is a God, their future dead children would see nothing because they would cease to exist as bio-organisms that are bi-pedal, featherless, and with two eyes in their heads enabling them to use stereoscopic vision.

I, perhaps, should not have said that it was obvious that Hitchens was drunk in this video. The audio could have been slowed down to make him sound drunk. But then I went on to make a political statement about Israel, which has nothing to do with slowed audio. There will be two peaceful states when the attackers of Israel renounce violence, and not a minute before. They will have to recognize Israel and behave themselves. Would you want an enemy nation for a neighbor? Iran will have to butt out.
Any Nation in that situation, with its back up against the wall better hope they never have peace. If they did, they wouldn't need to create the instruments of war or discipline their soldiers. They would eventually be over-turned by people who have it deeply, religiously ingrained in themselves that the Jews did not have a right to exist there and did not have a good enough excuse to exist at all. Their religion would convince them that even the most horrific acts of terror were justified.
Hitchens is drunk in this video, that's obvious. Also, I know Dawkins and Dennett enough to see that neither of them has any thing in common with Hitchens, here. I've seen Hitchens in better shape than in this video. As far as Israel is concerned, I think it is the only thing in the Middle East which IsReal! I would not give up one inch of any of the territory won in the 1967 war; and, if anything, continue with settlements. Israelis should dictate the conditions for peace and prepare for war.
How awesome it would have been to of sat in the room and listened to those four men.

There is no such thing as an 'occupation' and there is no such thing as an 'ethnocentric Zionist.' You are playing with words, sonny-boy.
