Ask A Homeschooling Mom 5: Convincing Grandparents

A year has passed and no problems at all. Though I get the same thing of a sudden "sweet" interest in our kids lives. "How are the kids doing?, How is the homeschooling working out?, What are they learning about? Any new friends or activities? " etc. I just choose to treat the questions respectfully. I use it as a chance to excitedly tell them all the great things that we are doing. =)

I am SO like you. I didn't even allow anyone to create negative energy around us. I sat down and told our family that we would start homeschooling, I told them why and some of my ideas, about some of the research I had done and so forth. Then I said; "Whether you agree or not, this legally my choice and I expect our family and friends to be positive and supportive". I respected their questions and concerns (I had them as well before starting).
