They sent you to a class for time and resource management??!!! How absurd, thats fucked up, sounds like they didn't tell their boss they gave you a billion projects, and said you were just too slow and blamed you, Well I guess thats kinda what happens in most companies, at least in mine I haven't been sent to a slap in the face training program.
This MBA things are crazy, this kind of ppl will be shoot when try even to go inside of good working company, only company which see the menagement must be a servant for technicians to realize they wishes and needs then something can suceed, I'm lucky I go at my own and my "management" ppl are only to put product on the market selling this and make a marketing but functionality is a my way and I can accept wishes or do it by my own way.
Usual management tricks then. While I'm still in education studding computing to eventually study computer networking at uni, I have observed management, as it (as you know) affects everything, they do not have a clue sometimes. Or how they treat staff is appalling, yet they get away with it. It surprises me that clients put millions into a development and then abandon it. I suppose I might come across the same problem in my to come carer. Electronics for me will probably always stay a hobbie.
The last part about taking the money home and being happy is so incredibly true. I don't work in engineering, I have a much more "plain" job but the same sh_t applies. A boss that doesn't have a bloody clue what he's doing and workers being ignored. Oh well, at least I'm getting paid.
yep, right on the money! my experience too - so I left full-time engineering and became a part-time teacher filling my spare time with hobby engineering.
not in engineering, but was working in IT for an engineering firm . . . man Office Space was certainly written based around that company! Great vid as every point you made was pretty much standard form for the projects run there. Being in IT we got to see the failures in all projects eg. why spend $10k rewiring the network in a project office when we can put up with random dropouts over 2yrs and THEN recable it at 5 times the cost (not to mention downtime!)
For the last year or so we've been working on an application for a huge company, chances are you own some of their clothing.. anyhow they decided they were going to remotely micro manage our company, they set unreasonable deadlines, constantly harassed devs, changed the requirements constantly and then argued about us not meeting their requirements (we had half a tree in specs, there was no way they could argue). In the end the came into our office and tried to ask for their money back. Sigh
Looks like there is a beating from the Flourescent lighting freq. and the shutter speed on the camera ?

Thanks for cheering me up Dave.

Don't be silly... It's because Management couldn't skim money off, get backhand commissions thing you make.

Yes, bad I know. The video looks terrible some times, this one seems to be particularly shocking, worst than most.
New cam on the way, so hopefully this will help.
