If I ever pick up a Call of Duty title, it'll be for laughs. My only experience with the series was 2, where I basically stormed through Normandy using nothing but melee and rarely needing a medkit. It was hilarious for all parties involved but the owner of the game.
On the bright side of today's shooters, the current sponsored related video is Borderlands 2... Even if it's more like an FPRPG with ammo, I still love it.

I guess this is finally the second generation of FMV games. A lot of people repeatedly vote with POS figures that the COD expansions and that other clone and it's expansions are very good games. I guess I just don't know what a good game is. I'm glad I stopped playing games right after HL2 so it ended on a good note.
For the past 6 years, I blame the developers. They dumb everything down, either on purpose, or simply because they have no clue how to make an actual game. In goes the graphics & sound, add some interaction… but the (game) is missing. Even 8 year olds should be insulted. Developers are out of touch with their players. They focus too heavily in the wrong directions. Visual. Online. DRM. Micro transactions. Games that play themselves. Bugs and patches. iOS. = industry crash on the horizon.
For now. But I assure you, if you take a stroll through what's going on in the industry; both behind the scenes, and with consumers… the only ones they'll be selling games to, are the addicts. And then that too, will fade away. It’s why the industry is seeing a shift to small games and mobile phones. Consumers are fed up with what’s going on… ‘till the industry does the same everywhere, and crashes. Gone are the craftsmen, in came the greed and industrial lines.
@OmegaX2Z It is less the "fed up with it" feeling and more the broadening of options. A lot of people start to play small mobile games now and get their gaming kick out of it. No need for them to invest time and money into console or pc gaming. The atari crash will not happen again, simply because you don't see the marked down boxes of games line after line in the shop. You only see it if you dig deep through steams library. But the cheaper games are not bad, they are those finely crafted games.
Gaming is purely digital entertainment for the hobbyist and causals. The industry has spent 10 years attempting to make it more acceptable and mainstream. What if movies, charged you $60 dollars for the movie. You start the movie, and after 30 minutes, it stops, and asks for $10.00 to watch the rest. Consumers will never justify that model. The model will crash. As for gaming in whole, people will begin to see psychological tactics VS craftsman. More so with internet access.

Here's my big problem with your video. Yeah the PC elitism is there but meh, who cares. My problem is that countless of games have you a part of a squad that doesn't do shit. They take up space, shooting at enemies and not killing them. Here is Treyarch that actually gives you a competent squad that does take out enemies, and people want to shit on them? @ogmaster1 Uh..."competent squad"? Please. They barely ever shoot at anything. Have you even played this game? Play S.O.G., that's the best level to see what's going on. The friendly AI just runs past the enemies and doesn't even shoot at them. Even if they do, they fire the weapons in like 2-3 shot bursts, and they'll just get you killed. There's a real difference between smart AI and mindless aimbots that are toned down so they don't clean up the battlefield too fast and reduce your play time.
@ogmaster1 I am watching how two of your squad members stand there for 10 seconds and barely manage to kill one enemy. That is not efficiency. It just means they aren't completely useless. If they actually had some AI and did a good job at actually killing enemies alongside you and not just running past them, maybe I'd consider them useful, but as with all the CoD AIs...there is no AI.

I think perhaps it would be better to say that this game has a target audience that doesn't include you folk. I think it is unfair to discredit a game as being too easy without playing the most difficult setting available in it. I'm a gamer. I always save money to buy the plataform with games I need to. That being said, I have a gaming PC, a 360 and a PSP. I buy games for both the 360 and the PC ('cause, damn, PSP is at the end of its lifecycle). Which one do I prefer? It depends on lots of things. But I felt half insulted. Half cause, I spend half of my gaming life on the PC. So my right side may kick your ass while my left one will try to protect you. Imagine that!

Consoles are great if you don't have the money for a nice PC -- I owned and played the 360 for years until I finally bothered to build a good gaming computer. Now basically all I play are PC games. With consoles you get (relatively speaking) ease of use and a single set up cost, whereas with PCs you get moddability, usually better graphics, etc.
Consoles aren't to blame, people *buying* COD are to blame. (*hint* *hint* T2DMrBungle)
That said, the "war" between consoles an PCs was so calm last generation. Console games were still fun and belonged being played on your couch while PC games did their own thing. With this new generation, it's hard to find a game worth playing at all because us gamers are not important enough to make games for anymore. It's insulting.

Oh hey, here's an experiment for you. You mentioned HL2 (great game btw). Remember that part near the beginning before you meet Alyx when the Combine CPs storm the building? Let them shoot you. See what happens. It might seem familiar.
I think you mean that your HP regenerates and you are little likely to die. But let’s remember that that part is the half-life equivalent of a cut scene, and that it is over in less than 3 minutes. As you can recall there are other scenes in the game similar to this one, such as when you go through the citadel in the prisoners transport. But what we have here is a 15 minutes mission that you can actually beat without doing anything.

However, the original Half-life was one of the first games to have near perfect scripted events, and half-life 2 did it way better than most games do today. HL2 still has amazing scripted events, but also has a lot of gameplay variety without making it seem like you don't control the action

I would play TF2 still, but its been butchered, dissected, and abused so bad that it barely resembles the game i loved back in 07-08. And its not the hats that really bother me, its the inflation of weapons and less emphasis on teamwork.
Also if you planned on buying BF3, skip it. It's basically Bad Company 3 mixed in with Modern Warfare. A complete joke of a sequel.

Yes the game is dumbed down, you explained that well enough, but then you go down the typical 'GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE' route and blame consoles. Your blame is misplaced; it's the developers who choose to treat it's audience like children and the publishers who continue to fund it, and it's not just PC gamers who feel it but ALL gamers, regardless of what system you play on. Stop trying to force this divide between PC and console, there's bigger issues at hand with the industry.

You know what, what's wrong with games being interactive movies? Games can do many different things, using different techniques to achieve different effects. I feel like you making a point to not do what makes sense in context is the same as looking away from the screen at a movie. Yes, you've proved that the experience is fake. Congratulations. But if you do as you were intended (play the game, look at the screen) you can have a ton of fun anyway.

@EMeav6942 He, like myself and many others, have a different take on what a good game campaign is: something less restrictive, less linear and on rails, with more gameplay and less quick time events, with better artificial intelligence, etc. CoD does not fit into that gameplay genre, it's leaning more to an on-rail shooter.

@LenoStarBucks Huh. I... kinda like on rail shooters. Sin and Punishment is an all time favorite of mine. Killer 7 is good too. I think perhaps it would be better to say that this game has a target audience that doesn't include you folk. It isn't a poorly produced game (I thought that level looked like it would be fun!) so much as it isn't a game you in particular want to play. It's important to draw the distinction, I think.

I think it is unfair to discredit a game as being too easy without playing the most difficult setting available in it. If it is not necessary to shoot at all in the most difficult mode of play too then yes, it would seem that this game is not a good fit for you.

I'm a gamer. I always save money to buy the plataform with games I need to. That being said, I have a gaming PC, a 360 and a PSP. I buy games for both the 360 and the PC ('cause, damn, PSP is at the end of its lifecycle). Which one do I prefer? It depends on lots of things. But I felt half insulted. Half cause, I spend half of my gaming life on the PC. So my right side may kick your ass while my left one will try to protect you. Imagine that!

Consoles are great if you don't have the money for a nice PC -- I owned and played the 360 for years until I finally bothered to build a good gaming computer. Now basically all I play are PC games. With consoles you get (relatively speaking) ease of use and a single set up cost, whereas with PCs you get moddability, usually better graphics, etc.

That said, the "war" between consoles an PCs was so calm last generation. Console games were still fun and belonged being played on your couch while PC games did their own thing. I think you mean that your HP regenerates and you are little likely to die. But let’s remember that that part is the half-life equivalent of a cut scene, and that it is over in less than 3 minutes. As you can recall there are other scenes in the game similar to this one, such as when you go through the citadel in the prisoners transport. But what we have here is a 15 minutes mission that you can actually beat without doing anything.

However, the original Half-life was one of the first games to have near perfect scripted events, and half-life 2 did it way better than most games do today. HL2 still has amazing scripted events, but also has a lot of gameplay variety without making it seem like you don't control the action
