Well, I can't fault you. I love Yankee Candles. Love their incredible selection. Love most of the candles cold. My Favorite is Midsummer's Night. But I can't deny that the throw is unreliable. Sometimes I get a great candle, and sometimes I burn one and it smells like kerosene and wax. I don't feel like I can count on a good candle from them.
I also have a quick question, I love candles but I don't like have my room smelling entirely of my favorite candles scents. Would Yankee candles be a good choice if I just want a wiff of my favorite candle scents when I walk into a room? [I prefer to smell my favorite candle scents here and there but not to fill up the room]
Yankee is so widely available and people can smell before buying. Before I found CBV I I barely smelled a candle when I burned it! Most candles have barely any hot throw! Once people try CBV or other companies like it they will never go back to places like Yankee.
I didn't know if you knew this but Victoria duplicated the sage & citrus scent. It smells exactly the same only complaint is its almost a little too strong. I used 1/4 of the scent shot and smelled up the whole house.
thanks for the head's up, Heather. I'll have to look for it. I love that scent especially in the summer time, you know? it is so clean. the good thing about a strong tart is you can get 4 scentings out of one tart. glad to know not to put the whole thing in there. lol I recently melted her violet birch I(the whole thing) and it is very sweet and strong. wowza. too sweet for my taste. night blooming jasmine is another one in small doses.
You can say that again!! I am also a CBV and Gold Canyon Candle fan!! But, I had a coupon for Yankee and I was tempted on my last trip to the mall. I discoverd the "Christmas at the Beach" candle - which I loved!! Excellent cold throw! ! The beachy lable and pineapple scent totally sucked me in, and I was trying to think positive, "maybe they changed"??? Oh No - nothing has changed - I can not smell this candle, - so sad!!
that is exactly what happened to me when I bought these 4 candles. I thought I would give it another go but i no longer will buy their candles. I did go after christmas and took advantage of the 1 dollar tart sale and bought some of their discontinued fall scents, as well as some christmas scents. I have found that GC are amoung my fav. candle. such a clean burn and strong throw, and beautiful flame. thanks for watching.
No nasty comment here. I totally agree. I've had a few successful smelling tarts from Yankee but that's about it. The candles are exactly how you explained, great for power outages lol. My favorites are Candles by Victoria & Circle E Candles, great throw.
I went to their after christmas sale. I do like some of the scents and like to see what is discontinued at a bargain. I did stock up a fall scent from 2 years ago that they did not bring back this year, as well as some winter tarts. I'm done with their candles though.I was not even tempted with the bargain prices on them after xmas. some of their spring scents really are nice this year. again, tarts only. thanks for watching.
wow i honestly love your reviews. this video just convinced me to just get CBV for my friend's birthday. the reason i was debating about it was because i was afraid she wouldn't know enough about candles to really appreciate CBV. she's sort of a very compulsive bargain shopper. i placed my first CBV order yesterday and i can't wait to get it! hope to see more reviews videos from you. =) thanks again for another informative review
thanks so much for watching. I am sure your friend won't be disappointed and tell her to be sure to read the paper that comes w/all of Victoria's candles on how to properly trim a wick and burning a candle. that is the key to most candle's success of burning.
Awesome video and review! I have walked into yankee so many times but since trying CBV i feel guilty everytime i do, LOL. Ive only bought one votive since though, haha, havent burned it yet.
they say their votives are good for burning if you don't want much scent but want a slow even burn. I've never tried them. I too would rather support small business.
It is hit or miss with yankee candles . I too was taken in by the sale only I got 8 or them!! ( over 100 dollars wasted} I'll give some away for Christmas gifts. I have noticed sometime the throw is better when you light it a second time around. I like the 22 oz because of the lamps and accessories. Great review
I love their Patchouli, and have not found another I like as well. Their accessories are nice but I heard that they are getting away from carrying alot of accesories and want to focus more on the candles. They seemed to have quite a big holiday collection though. I tried a second time and no difference. thanks for watching.
I completely agree. I had just gotten a CBV order in a couple weeks ago when a friend stopped by and comented on them. I told her all about CBV and my love of candles. The following week was my birthday and that friend (remembering my love of candles) bought me Yankee's Harvest. ZERO cold or warm throw. It was a hunk of yellow colored wax with a wick. :p
I totally agree. I bought a few candles from them the other day because i fell in love with the cold scent of a few when in the store. When i burned them i didn't smell a thing, maybe every now and then I would get a small whiff but that was it.
see? others have commented the same thing. It is just so disappointing. Their tarts are really not that much better; there are a few I like but can get the scent from other vendors. thanks for watching.
I have to agree, the cold throw of Yankee Candles are great! But I find once I burn them, I literally have to put my nose on top of the flame in the direct heat to get that same scent :(
First of all, you are a hoot! I love your candor and honesty. And I so agree with you about the Yank Me candles. I'm so glad I found Candles By Victoria here on youtube. I'm all for supporting the small business owner. I like that she makes her candles to order. You can tell the difference in the kind of wax she uses. And, she really cares about her product and her customers.
try bath and body works candles i got the stress relief one and you can smell it and it is a strong scent

Love your videos!! I agree about Yankee. They have almost NO scent throw, even from the tarts!! My fave companies are CBV and the spotted hog:)

I think their wax has changed over the years too. I don't remember the wax having such a rough appearance, used to be much smoother.
