@0602409 Similar price, size, power, top speed, 0-60 acceleration etc. Plus, it is an interesting comparison between two completely different cars... :-) With a surprising result... :-))) BTW: Best specific output per liter (production cars, although some of them rare/small series): Naturally aspirated petrol 159.3 hp/diesel 44.8 hp, forced induction petrol 223 hp/diesel 100.8 hp. Diesel is PURE CRAP, relatively speaking... :-) But turbo diesel has got reasonable power and very good consumption.

Really poor image in the UK, owned by snobs, hairdressers, estate agents and the lower to middle class (usually on finance/HP) who think they have something to prove. Skodas are all things to all men, a classless car. And in the mid range, this little VRS TDI will out accelerate most 'superior' cars.

I prefer the look of the old VRS and Im quite into deisals tbh, I was looking at getting the old VRS, However there is some great deals on the new VRS at the moment so Im torn at which to go for. Still havent sold the Mini so I'll have to wait a little longer anyway.

@zotya0527 FYI, Fabias can seat 5 fairly TALL people quite comfortably. I own a Fabia Sedan, and it does the job all too well, despite the fact that it might not have the legroom of a Mercedes, and a little less elbow room than one, but the passengers normally have little reason to complain.

i love my 03 vrs fabby!, its so much faster in real road driving than those british...cough!... german minis!, I annoyed someone in a mini cooper s the other day on the m40.... he couldnt pull away from my DIESEL! family car and i was still returning 40mpg thundering along at some mph!. bet he was returning 20mpg?, oh yeah and tiff is a twat, i reckon he could also be gay??

@MissThunderPuss I currently have an 03 plate cooper S and Im just about to sell it and buy a fabia VRS. Im sorry dude but from a stand start Id destroy your VRS in the mini, Id out handle you aswell, The only time youd keep up is mid range but at top end Id be pulling away. That said the VRS are awesome and thats why Im getting one. I used to have the seat ibiza sport 130 pd which is the same as the fabia vrs and it was pretty good.

What alot of people should know is that if you remap the ECU of a Fabia VRS you should be pushing around 160bhp instead of the nominal 130. Think about the pwr/weight ratio then...

3 valve fabia with 72 HP and some equipment cost about same as equaly equiped Suzuki SX4 with 120 HP 1.6L engine with variable valve timing.

Fabia is shit. Octavia has good value / money.
