I've had this game on PSN for a while. The UFOs do, indeed, need to be unlocked, and most of the score medals are only possible after the UFOs have been unlocked. The left and right fire buttons are mapped to shoulder buttons, which works very well, and I was surprised they didn't do that with Astro Tripper. Almost anything would have made more sense than a turn button, and I'm fairly certain they released this game first.
