  • sexiest guitar part ever made

  • Anyone know how they get this effect?

  • @bringbackoldlab Well there's wah in some spots obviously. Other than that, overdriven amp all the way through till the outro. And a hint of chorus.

  • @bringbackoldlab

wah, overdrive and in the verse part where he is playing the chords i'd say he's also using some chorus...at least it sounds like chorus...

  • I actually listen to this on its own as a song :P

  • It sounds like he's plugged in guitar>wah>distortion>amp for the beginning licks. I know there's chorus in there, but can anybody verify that wah comes before distortion here?

  • smooth dirty and sexy

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

I sat on a hill with some friends smoking a bit of weed and had this playing, oh man.

  • it's weird john's hands made this music! we can hear every stroke and change of effect and everything here it's beautiful

  • jesus frusciante

  • Harmonics are really sublime at 4:06

    Really love this song

  • @dmtlse31 I'm pretty sure he was making the chord shapes and tapping the strings with his fingers whilst using the wah. That's what he does live anyways, but I've been wrong before :P

  • @misterkurdt i think he's plucking the harmonics cause you can hear the little ticking noise which must be the string being plucked

  • Bro, please hook a brother up with the guitar master for Soul To Squeeze. Necesito, dude.

  • best song in the world, an i loooooove the sound of fender guitars with wah or clean like at the end, makes me orgasm

  • best piece of music i have ever heard. Since the album came out i heard this outro at least 2000 times. No joke. It never gets dull. I stared playing guitar because of this very piece. It has truly enriched my life.

  • wow no fadeout!

    thanks!

  • It's amazing how little the guitar plays in the song, yet the complete song is soooooo dope!

  • Can't believe John must of being 21 when he recorded this. Even back then he was a fucking genius.

  • @Simmeringtim more like 24

  • @Simmeringtim

yea, he was born in 1970, and the album came out 1991, so yea, 21... but he prob. WROTE it when he was 19-20, which is pretty amazing.

  • This is MotherFucking Amazing!!!!! *u* The Solo is ÁAWEESOOOME!!!!! n___n

  • If you listen starting from 5:35 it really sounds like the tone he uses in his solo work.

  • The part starting at 3:19 reminds me of the All-Stars version of Super Mario Brothers 3, first level, for some reason.

  • 5:37 (L)

  • @chriistiinaaxO Lol what?

  • @chriistiinaaxO You're a dumbass.

  • @chriistiinaaxO perhaps wen your older you'll understand

  • @clingrivers perhaps you should smd.

  • @chriistiinaaxO If this song was able to suck my dick, I would be one of the happiest persons on earth. So shut up.

  • can you do this to purple stain, i need to hear what effects he uses in the chorus better then what I do now, it sounds chorus pedal like but idk. and also at the end. please do the guitar master or help me out

  • Way Hendrix on the outro!! My favorite part of the song! well, IDK, that wah sound is sooo Funky! Gotta love this stuff...John, you the man!

  • Is like hearing Hendrix play the outro! o_O

  • John is a genius, I mean really......just an absolute genius. There is no logical way to argue against it. He seems to be the kind of guy who has creativity that is barely even tapped into, as amazing as that sounds.

  • well anthony and flea rocked with hillel so i believe rhcp still have potential for another good album

  • one of my favourite RHCP songs...thanks john...

  • This makes me want to bad things with/to sexy people....that's how friggin sexy this is! OOooh

  • best outro ever!!

  • this is so great to hear! damn, john knows how to make a guitar sing.

what are they gonna do with out him?

    :(

  • what key is this in???

  • At least the beginning is in

    E

  • the intro guitar riff is so damn sexy.

i can see what john meant in the Funky monks DVD about trying to make the guitar sound as sexy as he can and that if it sounded sexy enough that anthony would get laid that night haha :)

  • Part from 5:35 to end is epic, awesome guitar!!!!!!

  • @LiveAtSlaneCastle

aaa yeah I love that part so much...

  • the bass instrumental of this song if fucking magical

  • i cant find one on youtube, where is this? i would like to here it.

  • that glassy tone at 0:25, what effect is that?

RHCP use it in a ton of there songs, so it would be helpful to know what it is.

  • i think it's a chorus

  • @iOweMyLife2FLEA Its his amp. It's not chorus, when he uses chorus its really heavy.

  • @mikolene97 Actually, its a combination of his entire setup... but you can get that same sound with Chorus, Wah, and overdrive setting on ur amp. Also just a little side note, if you do some googling theres an interview with Frusciante himself and he said on BSSM he used Chorus on EVERY song in some shape or form.

  • @redraiders07 wow. lol

  • @iOweMyLife2FLEA it chorus pedal, and yes they use on a ton of songs. it sounds liquidly kinda

  • Could you do some tracks of Stadium Arcadium like Wet Sand, She Looks To Me, Desecration etc please.

  • thank you "RedHotRarities"

  • john is god

  • outro is too fckiing awesome.

  • can you do this or get this in any other tracks? ill pay you seriously this is great stuff

  • this is definition funk

  • Feels good to rock out on my bass with the one and only Frusciante!

  • Anyone have an idea of what key the outro is in?

  • here are the chords, just figure out the rest for yourself cause it'd be hard to explain in this manner: (all of these are barre chords switching between root 5 and 6 major and minors....Eminor (7th fret root 5), E flat major (6th fret rt. 5), B flat major (6th fret rt. 6), Dmajor (5th fret root 5), A flat major (4th fret rt. 6), E flat major again (quickly), C minor (3rd fret root 5), A flat major again, then slide down to the 3rd fret root 6 and play a G major, then it repeats. hope i helped!

  • I know the chords, i can play this i just wonderd whar key the outro was in

  • oh, ok. i thought you were wanting to know the key for the purpose of learning the chords. sorry, but i can't help you there.

  • Ok, it's cool.

  • there are free chords, with some modulations.. we can say that tends in E minor but there isn't a specific key

  • Ye that's what i thought, thanks for answering :)

  • the outro is rhythm with blues, the key is based off of whatever chord you're resting on. so it's not just one key it's a bunch based off of chord. you can't just jam out in one key you have to follow them based off of chord

  • that outro is so cool!

its worth listening to the same funk beat for 6 minutes

  • sexiest intro of all time!

  • one of the best funk songs ever created by any human being(s)

  • Wow, that's so cool!

  • I'm begging you to upload the bass master track for this.

  • I agree I wanna hear this one part to make sure if I'm playin' it right or not.

  • Precision Outro!!WTF?:D

  • oh my god, the outro is fucking powerful

  • shit man, isnt it???? I read an article on JF in Guitarworld once, he said that one of his dreams in life was to write music that made people feel like they were flying. my opinion? mission accomplished.

  • Hell yeah!

  • the chord progression outro starting from 5:40 might be one of Jong Frusciante's best pieces of work....second greatest guitarist, next to the Hendrix man.

  • I hear chickens

  • the outro on this song is probably the best riff to learn if u wanna get good at those hendrix style fills which john really mastered

  • great job, thank you RedHotRarities, but in the last verse, before the outro, there's another guitar; that plays a little distortion solo. anyway thank you

  • nice,i love this song!

  • WHERE DO U GET THIS STUFF!?

  • Man I have the same fucking question!!!!!!

  • And that comment was in reference to the outro of this song

  • Been learning this for over a month and a half, and let me be the first to say that this song alone will help you build immense amount of strength in your fingers.

  • JF is so brilliant

  • beautiful. :')

  • that is me :D

  • Sounds very hendrix, i love it

  • dude i didnt know they had these things on here!!

  • From 5:37 to the end is the greatest 2 and a half minutes of guitar ever recorded. Truly unbelievable.

  • I know, right!? It's probably my favourite guitar playing right there.

  • @GoodTimeBoys66

    It's definitely up there.

  • @GoodTimeBoys66 i agree but bear in mind that its not exactly original since its so close to jimi hendrix

but i totally agree its still amazing, i mean we need someone to keep making jimi songs like these and i think john frusciante was perfect for the job

  • @VoluntaryZonkey I agree that it's clearly based on hendrix's style, but it is original and indeed totally fucking amazing... you just don't hear guitar pieces like this these days, with some exceptions

  • @GoodTimeBoys66 fantastic! very hendrix-inspired!

    !

  • @GoodTimeBoys66 I would say coolest guitar piece ever recorded. Possibly greatest.

  • yeah hendrix is all over the song... incredible!!

  • I can hear hendrix all over the song. This is amazing, thanks for uploading!

  • wow... this is so awesome!! love it

  • I've never been one to copy tones... but what I wouldn't do to get the tone John has in this song. Its soooooo sick

  • it's the classic bell-like '50 strat tone, I think you could get this with the custom shop 54 pickups.. and obviously with your hands by picking hard and carefully muting strings that you not use

some bending notes seem to cry in the outro.. listen 06.07.. amazing..

  • The outro is just bliss. Thank you John, you're god!

  • Nice!I love this song

    THX for ADD!

  • 3:40 was weird and cool

  • the outro is so awesome, i can play it!

  • YES ! IAM JAMMING TO ALL OF THESE!

  • the only pedals john has at this time is ibanez wh10, boss ce-1 chorus and boss turbo distortion and/or boss distortion. this sounds like turbo distortion, ibanez wah, and a little chorus to get that boost.

  • I don't think he uses the distortion on this track until the little solo he does in the last verse. Maybe a bit of overdrive...

  • la musique qu'on passera à mon enterrement

  • i always tought there were 2 or 3 guitar tracks recorded on the outro..but there is only 1!

  • Yeah and I love that outro. It reminds me of something butI can't put my finger on it. Hotel California maybe. Anyway if you play guitar you should learn it. It's a super fun jam to play.

  • deep inside the garden of eden, standin there with my hard on bleedin, there's a devil in my dick, there's some demons in my semen

  • WTF... did anyone notice that amazing huge bend at around 3:15 O_O

listening to the master tracks of John gives gives a clear sight of how good John is at playing funk music

  • amazin

  • This is GREAT track!! Thank You for That!!

Awesome sounds! I like playing bass with this, i love this!! Thanx again!!

Can U send me mp3 track with this to my e-mail? qbanez[at]gmailDOTcom - please!

    Thanx from up ;)

    Cheers!

  • Anyone know what effects he uses during the verses? Sounds like a little of chorus and overdrive

  • I believe John uses a Boss CE-1 Chorus, not sure bout overdrive, and it souneds like the bridge pickup on his strat!

  • From what I can tell and have heard form others. John played alot of this album with a really slow phasing chorus. As far as the overdrive goes. He's probably just got his amp turned up really loud and probably playing on the bridge pick up which can cause some clipping. You could probably get the sound with some overdrive though. Like a clean boost.

  • i don't get it, what exactly does the choruspedal do to the sound?

  • Do you mean in general? Or just on this track? Do you need to know what a chorus pedal does or what it's doing to John's guitar on this song?

  • Both. Where's the difference?

  • well if you listen to come as you are by nirvana, that affect he is using is a chorus pedal. but u can also use it for a little boost, thats what i think john is using here for that boost. or it could just be his wh10. but if you listen at 1:49, listen to how the note is like hovering back and forth, that what a chorus pedal can do.

  • Your right. I think he's using it for the boost. That and during the slow part in the song at 4:10 you can hear how he has his wah on but he's not manipulating it. He's just leaving it in one place. He might be doing tht for a boost as well.

  • aah ok, thanks dude!

  • No problem. I hope you understood all of it! I'm not to good at expliaining things in writing. Haha.

  • GuitarLord71 explained it very well. A chorus pedal is a very very very short delay pedal. The signal goes in, is stopped for fractions of a second, and then released with the original signal which already went through without stopping. So you get this "wavering" sound. But what John is doing is setting the chorus to a super short setting so it dosen't have that deep watery sound that typically chorus is used for. ->continued

  • Continued-> You can hear the chorus really good at 4:10-4:59 during the slow part. GuitarLord is right in the fact that I think he's using it for a boost. It gives his guitar that shrill glassy sound that's all over Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Another thing Joh did to get his distinct sound for this record is turn on his wah and instead of using like a regular wah wah and moving it back and forth he would leave it in one position. You can that during the slow part as well. Hope this helps!

  • I dont know if its just me or what...the outro sounds somewhat like a Jimi Hendrix song, a little bit like Castles Made of Sand maybe.

  • the outro is so fuckin amazing!

  • i love that outro

  • yeah i might buy a guitar just to learn how to play it i love it

  • These don't sound full enough to be master tracks. The sound too far off. Te tone isn't quite right. Plus they recorded alot of stuff on this album in the same room as each other. There would probably be some bleed if these were really the master tracks.

  • this is the master track, definitely. this is john's style of playing. definitely

  • Oh I know it's the master track. I just want to know how this guy got it. I think he did it with Rockband. Not totally sure though.

  • I've asked this many times...how the heck do you get your hands on master tracks????? Why you have to be so elusive about it...do you separate it on your own or what?

  • Either this is something he did on like a software where you can digitally separate tracks on, or he just has acess to these things which I have no idea how he would get it. I think it's just the a program he's using to seperate tracks. I could be wrong though.

  • I haven't heard of any program that can separate tracks like that...been looking forever.

  • Audacity can I think.

  • okay I'll check it out.

  • I just thought of something. He could have gotten these by doing something with Rockband. After he downloaded the whole Blood Sugar Sex Magik album he could be really computer savy and do something to get the separate tracks off of Rockband.

  • You're totally right, I've heard that very often

  • This man wins.

  • so did he figure out the secret or what?

  • What? What do you mean?

  • this is just PURE awsome! :)

  • Such a good lick

  • aer

  • you don't realise how much different it sounds without the rest of it until you listen to this.

  • Woooh! john guitar god!

I have all the BSSM songs with sperated tracks =)

  • Yeah, great aren't they! :D

  • Up...load.... Pleeease..

  • I can give you the links, but I suppose RedHotRarities wants to upload it

Is it OK to post the link?

  • Go ahead, I don't have a problem with that. I'm just here to upload them for people who aren't very internet-savvy. :)

  • OK thanks man!

  • yea r u gonna put the links up

  • How did you get them?

  • From the Invisible Movement forum (John Frusciante fan site) Check it out!

  • I'll check it out.

  • the page is sooo fcking good, you wouldn´t believe it
