ew years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me
These two muppet commentators do my head in. Don't mean to be cynical but do you reckon Tommy could have run it in from there? There was a massive gap in the line. I'm not saying he should just asking for opinions. I can watch this over and over again.
Tommy was at Saints from 1994-2002 and blossomed towards the end of his career mainly when Ian Millward took over in 2000 before then he had two horrendous knee reconstructions and only for this he may have had a few appearances for Great Britain...he turned out for Ireland a few times but on his day there was no classier player around in Superleague as his Superleague Players player of the year award showed in 2000 !
Yes, should be able to make it, any rugby player either pro or amateur that cannot make that pass doesn't deserve to call their self a player.
There was nothing difficult about the pass, it didn't have a huge distance to cover, it didn't have to beat, except the opposition the man Tommy had to draw.
This is stuff that under 12's are taught.
Better passes are made every week in Super League.
Hey, Tommy was a fantastic player that had every single skill in the book, pass run, kick, tackle etc. Absolutley no doubts whatsoever about that, and I'm not trying to take anything away from what was a wonderfully skillful player, perhaps the most naturally talented player SL has seen.
But the pass was ordinary and I have made better on many occasions playing amateur RL.
how many players have you ever seen that can make that pass straight from a pickup to a person going the other direction without looking? im guessing maybe 2 or 3....... 5 at most
Tommy Martyn delivers the beer for Carlsberg at the club i work at, i had no idea that he played rugby for about 3 years, then i heard him talking about playing at Wembley, i was gobsmacked
Tommy Martyn one of the best, and that muppet Ellery Hanley was releasing him. Thankfully the board got rid of Hanley and Milward knew what a great player he was and kept him.
He was always outstanding. One of the greatest, I miss his moves, you never knew what he was going to do next.
Don't suppose you've got his ball up the jumper move (it was a quick tap penalty) from 2001/2002?
One thing you got with Tommy was invention, he would always try something new, a lot of the time it wouldn't work but when it did it was spectacular. Brilliant brain....
Tommy bamboozled defences and when he was on his game Saints always won....the hatrick at Wigan when Saints were 18-0 down and Tommy's try won the match in the last minute 30-28.
unbeleivable tekkers!

I am a die hard Rhinos fan. But have to admit that was sheer class from a class player. I think Martyn was one of your best players ever.

Wonder pass? It was a simple right to left pass, and then he nearly through it past Shiels.
Kicking through the line and regaining the ball is a far harder skill.

That could be the best pass any type of rugby has ever seen.
lukeymerriman 2 years ago
Are you serious?
It was a bog standard 3 yard pass from right to left, any self respecting player of Rugby should be able to make this pass.
raploverhull2009 2 years ago
should! should be able to make it...but how many can you state and give solid evidence to proove your little statement, that have done such a pass?
I genuingly can't think of any pass i have ever seen with such precision and speed!

yeah dont wory im actualy not trying to get into a heated argument.
but its not the pass, its the vision, to trust the inside man and throw it with full confidence.
most people in pro just wud run straight. aaand maybe the title 'wonder pass' is ott
