yea, the dionne version is much better.

But I must admit the barry gibb demo version of "islands in the stream" is much better than the released kenny rogers country version.

Wow - I heard this yesterday (it had been many years) on the Radio - and I was in awe of the songwriting mastery - I thought it had to be Burt Bacharach (especially the pre-chorus ...("Only to find every dream that I follow" etc)). My long time respect for the Bee Gees songwriting has skyrocketed

When Barry performs this on stage he always does a shorter verison and he doesn't sing it anywhere near this high. He makes it his own, without ever taking anything away from the person he gave it too.Heartbreaker is one of my all time favourite songs, I love Dionne Warwark and the lyrics are are sublime. Barry when he sings is straight gives it a different, more tend feel.

Interesting to hear this version by the songwriter(s) ... but Dionne Warwick totally kicked butt with her version of "Heartbreaker." I believe her version went to number 10 and stayed there for several weeks. True, she probably was no longer at the peak of her popularity in 1982 (I think her first hit was in 1962), but her voice was still excellent. Thanks for posting this other version, never heard it before!

watch her biography channel documentary. she had a hit in the mid 1970s and had a very successful album in 1979. i didn't need to watch the documentary to know this. when this came out in late 1982 it was played like crazy and she was on a streak of fame with her solid gold show.

she went through a lull in the 1970s probably because she hooked up with too many r&b producers.

Bee Gees were so awesome. Too bad I was born too late (right in their hayday, or towards the end of it) so never got to see them live in concert, and now that's an impossibility as the mystery man Maurice died way too soon.

I totally respect the BeeGees , they have written songs for most artists of that era which I didn't know. When I was young they appeared on Top of the Pops, I think their songs were wrong st the time, then they exploded with John Travolta and the disco films and songs. Total respect .

You know...It's really too bad that, at the end of the 70's, the Brothers had to be made the whipping boys for the Anti-Disco backlash, and watch their career as performers go up in smoke. A shame, b/c This tune and others that they wrote/produced for other artists could've been hits for them, had they opted to rec'd them as The Bee Gees.
