Third of all, women's rights are lacking HEAVILY in Islam compared to the equality that most women enjoy in America. Secondly, I think the issue is actually pretty simple: Islam is the most recent monotheistic religion, therefore it's still "taken too seriously". Think about it, do most Jews have a much bigger sense of humor about Judaism than Christians do about Christianity? The older the religion, the more open-minded the perspective. If I were a Christian either way, I would always encourage anybody to criticize Christianity and all other religions in a very funny way.
