Considering the the popish sound this song has - I am surprised it was not a hit. Reminds me a little of Billy Joel or Elton John more than Mister P. In later interviews I have seen of Emitt he seems rather quiet and crabby - but considering what happened to him in the music industry I should not be surprised. Sure was a cutie when he was young.
Thank you so much for posting this. There isn't much out there. Emmitt is sadly underrated, and he's better at sounding McCartney-ish than Eric Carmen. At least Emmitt could play several instruments and compose songs just as good if not better than the master!
Great artist ... Signed with Dunhill and then got sued. Dunhill was stupid and should have re-drawn a new contract. Kept Emitt from having a life. Now he's paranoid as hell about everyone and has a right to be. Am eager to hear new album but there may be a limited amount of his presence ....

Sounds like Emitt to me. Great singing, songwriting, studio wizard, musically proficient--pulled off some fantastic stuff for the times. I've read a lot about him and I think too much emphasis on the McCartney comparisons. I would not confuse his voice with Sir Paul's. Emitt's is much sweeter. Everybody has influences that they channel--even the brilliant Beatles. Emitt's brilliant with a melody too.
People say he sounds like Macca, but by the time Emitt Rhodes made his albums, Macca was too successful and complacent to make anything that compared to this.
The first two Emitt Rhodes solo records are all killer no filler
He was in England doing promo work and performing. He also did a video for "Really Wanted You" at the same time as this one(same locales, same sytle). They're both on a UK VHS tape with other British pop acts from 70-71. Sometimes it's for sale on Ebay.
Wow! What a find! Thanks for posting! Never knew that any promo film of Emitt Rhodes even existed! Hopefully some others will rear their heads in time.
Love to you Emitt.. love your music, still after all these years. You sound Fresh As A Daisy.

I love this! Never heard the song before because I've only got Merry Go Round and first solo record, but now I'm going to become a completist.
I started a facebook group for Emitt fans. Just look up Emitt Rhodes and it should come up.
Cheers!
