i too have been working with cad500 parts. theose are highly underestimated engines. and lightweight.. i love the car man, i bet its crazy fast.... but if it were mine i might tuck the turbos a little closer to the engine, but it looks great, nice ride man.
i still know how to get 2000 horsepower from a cad 500. i did work on them for 15 years. then switched over. to much up hill battling the cadillac motors to have fun with them. they have some good points such as a 4.500 bore u can take them out to without fill.
horsepower with a 427 chevy tall deck truck engine at 8500 rpm. i made close to 1500 fpt also. if us chevy guys are wrong. then why are there no cadillac aftermarket blocks made and used in pro mod 1320 racing. i went through a lot to get my 2 cadillac motor to make the kind of power my chevy did. try 911 horsepower normally asperated. cant do that with a cad. even with the new boogle man heads. and at 4500 for cnc ported they can keep them. my heads flow 520 cfm after i ported them.
well i did write a book on this subject thats 400 pages long. ok where to start. the cadillac motor is a poor performer because u cannot get cylinder heads that flow in the 490 cfm range. combined with a large stroke u have a limited rpm range or about 2800 to 5500 rpm. that sucks for a street engine. if tork is all where its at then why do the cadillac thumper and other cams strat out at 2500 rpm in the power band. obviously to get them spinning. secondly i made 2300

CAD500 Parts online can give you guys some really great parts. I've purchased many upgrades, but the engines are not junk. I'm driving around in my '35 twin turbo coupe today, and it'll blow the doors off any production street car in Portland Oregon. I'd say to anybody who knocks a custom Hotrod like mine: you've got Mutten in your skull. Go eat some more haggus, snake breath!
On a lighter note... you are right the 472 is a more powerful engine when naturally aspirated, but too high comp ratio.
the 425-500 cadillacs will fit alot of places you would not think they would fit
We make a kit for the 78-87 G body will have a kit for mustangs and im working on some others when i have time.
@pmd7771969 Thank you so much for being a troll and knocking someones project they were nice enough to share.
Cadillacs have some known issues most have been dealt with some fixes are in the works. WHat they atock has nothing to do with what they are capable of
caddy motors suck i worked on them for 15 years. what crap. the rods are cast, the blocks are 2 bolt, the valvetrain is the weakest of any production engine, the oil system is weak, no good heads made for them. the cost of the parts are insane. no advantages to them over bbc or even a sbc.
@pmd7771969 fastest gasoline production engine is a 472 caddilac , high nickel content in the block , and the stock heads on the 68 and 69 are high flow high compression , wasnt till the 70's when they went wished low compression and soap dish pistons
It's a 425 cid '78 true flat top, came out of a DeVille. The last of the all Iron engineered Cadillac's. It was used for several years due to it's long lasting high nickel block. It's one of the lightest big block's because the bore and stroke are almost identical. Power of a big block, weight and rev's of a small block. FUN!
Oh yea... It's way wider than a small block! Different angle... so if you're gonna try to fit in where your SBC came from, you'd better start cuttin!!!
I apologize for not posting any more Videos, It's hard to get a video, when your' driving your beast around town. I'll have someone take one soon, so I can post, it's getting close to complete...
Are you a real engineer? I'm enrolled at UMD (Duluth, MN) for Mech Eng, hoping that it's the right way to go so I can do things like you've done with this car/engine and hopefully make a business out of it as well. Any advice?
It's similar to the fastest Cadillac in the world. Last weekend Spectre broke the world land speed record on gasoline, with a 500 cid Cadillac... that's the big brother to this motor, with twin 88mm turbos!!!!!
