  • She is totally my fav. rider and i cant BELIVE amigo is at your barn!!!!

  • would you mind if i used this video in a video i am making? she's my riding idol and i want to include her in it. i'll give you credit for the clip. thanks!

  • wow that was great!

  • wow, awesome ride.

Please before saying that you must have a 6 figure horse to be able to have correct equitation remember that, one is not judged on how "pretty they look." A competitor is judged on how effective his or her aids are.

Please do not insult equitation riders by saying they are only good riders because of their mount

  • It would be a lie to say the expensive horse isn't apart of it. Yes, they are very talented, dedicated riders but having a nice warmblood with good training, a flat jump, flying changes, solid basic dressage work and the ability is not cheap. All of these points allow the riders to put a nice round together.

  • true, but i do really well in the eq ring (not on the highest level, but smaller medal finals and stuff) and so does my sister, and i'm riding a waaaay less than $10,000 horse, and my sister does the pony eqs on a pony my trainer picked up for $300 and she's won many, many eq classes. So yes, the horse does count, but we've taught our horses all the dressage work and flying changes and still managed to do really well.

  • does anyone know what horse she was riding?

  • She's riding Valvare (sp?)

  • wow i didnt relize she dropped a rail.

  • That is a great made horse. Would be a NICE hunter. hes not too fast and has PERFECT form. Good rider.

  • What most people need to understand about equitation at this level, is that the horses are made. MAYBE the rider had somehting to do with it, but with all their money why not have it trained for you. These are older horses that have been doing this all their lives. I love eq. and i love eq riders, but people forget about the horse most of the time. They are the ones taking the jumps. If they wanted to they could get us all of their backs. Just saying remember the horses!

  • thank you, lol.

but yeah you can tell that maria is great by how nicely she sets up the horse.

  • people focus on the people for equitation because that's the definition of equitation. :) and the horses pretty much HAVE to be perfect in order for the rider to always look perfect. if you're still doing some training while showing, your position is never going to be 100% on point. though, of course I COMPLETELY agree with you. :) I personally would never dream of buying an already-"completed" horse, much less pay someone else to train it! it would make me feel so spoiled..

  • Yeah, the horses do have to be right with you the entire time. But I have always trained my own horses and I feel great to be able to say that. I think if these eq riders are supposte to be so amazing then they should be able to fix their horses problems themselves. I'm not saying that some don't-don't get me wrong they are very good riders! But I think it's more impressive to see a rider who dosen't need to send their horse to boot camp before a big show :)

  • lol fully agreed. before i got my own horse i rode at a big hunter barn and there was this family of girls, the oldest was 12 at the time, then the other two were like 8 and 7 or something. they had 4 amazing horses boarded at the barn for $600/mo EACH, then they had 5 ridiculously amazing horses on their own property! so of COURSE they were all great riders! the oldest actually wont some junior championship thing, i just saw her name on the website a couple weeks ago. the Van der Walds.

  • The video is the third round of the Washington Equitation Finals. In the first round, a hunter round, and the second round, a jumper round, you ride your horse ( Maria rode a young green horse owned by Jimmy Toon in rounds one and two). For the third round (the round on this video), the riders return and switch horses with one of the other top ten scorers of rounds one and two.

Maria Schaub was mostly a catch rider as a junior and is now a young professional.

  • okay..??

i wasn't saying anything bad about her, i was just talking about riders in general. i'm fully aware of the different classes.

  • Maria's ride for the first round was the highest score of the day. This is a video of the last round and Maria went into that round, after the hunter and jumper phases, on top.

  • someone please find out what her personal tradgy is!!!!! i heard briannes really stuck up and thats soo sad that fank and stacia are gettin a divorce what happened????

  • Umm, dont know if I'm allowed to say this but umm, frank wasnt exactly faithful....

  • Yea that's true

    I live by Beacon Hill

  • what happened to brianne that she had a pesonal tradgedy?

  • idk... i havent heard. and why is frank not w/ beacon hill? im soo confuzzled and clueless lol

  • He and Stacia are getting a divorce.

  • Oh that's terrible. I didn't know. Thanks

  • I don't think Frank Madden is sure where he is heading now...I don't think he is going back to Beacon Hill. I heard he may be going to Holly HIll in MA. I personally prefer Maria's riding to Brianne's but don't be mean about her..she has had personal tragedy which no matter how lucky someone seems otherwise is horrible.

  • why did you say brianne has had personal tragedy

  • That isn't something to spread around the internet. But she has never done anything to any of you and I have never seen her do anything wrong by anyone. Jealousy makes people say things they don't mean and it would feel pretty awful to have people calling you a stuck up brat because they're jealous of your opportunities and success. I'm jealous as hell but that is how life is. And to correct what i said above Frank is actually in Nassau County, NY (long island) now.

  • whats this personal tragedy???

  • WOW! She looked great! Who was she riding again? Does she still own Whimsey? I loved him.

  • God, she's so talented....

  • what barn does frank train at then i am like freaking out now!!!

  • he owns beacon hill farm

  • No, he doesnt. Stacia Madden's family part owns Beacon Hill as do the Springsteens. Frank just happened to marry Stacia and take over the training of the place.

  • oh lol well close enough

  • No, its states clearly on the site, and he clearly stated as did Max Amaya via emial that Stacia is currently the head trianer. As far as I know, frank generally trians the Maclay kids, stacia handles most of everything else, along with Max and I believe its Krysta?

  • Maria Schaub catch rode most of her junior career. The horse she is riding in this picture is the horse she switched onto in the third round of the WIHS eq final.

Brianne Goutal always had her own horse and still does.

The two riders had very different junior riding experiences.

The comparison of the two is difficult to make if you know the backgrounds of the riders.

  • hahaha brianne goutal is a stuck up brat who had everything given to her i like maria way better

  • oh yeah. i just heard stacia madden really owned beacon hil like she had the income come mostly from her side of the family. yeah i think maria should have won the maclay too. she is a fabulous rider, if she had amigo still she would have won deff.

yeah im hopefully going to be training with frank. i have my fingers crossed!!

  • haha frank came and did a clinic at my barn.. and his tent is with ours at wef =]

  • i love the way maria rides

    anyway flawless roundd...

does maria ride at beacon hill anymore?

oh and is frank still training there or is he kicked out...or is that classified information...woops...anywayy =]

  • yeah I think she still rides at beacon hill... Frank couldn't be kicked out of beacon hill because 1st he started and owns it, and 2nd he's the one who kicks people out.... who would kick him out? anyway I love the way she rides too, I think seh should've won the maclay...:)

  • No, Frank trains in Connecticut now. He doesnt own it. The Springsteens and Stacia's family co-own Beacon Hill. Stacia kicked him out and is currently training the kids with her assistants. Trust me.

  • oh okay. I haven't heard anything lately so I didn't know where he was now. thanks!

  • Nothing is classified in the horse world

  • lucky!!!! lol

  • who is she on?

  • carolyn curciou's horse valvert because they had to switch as the final test

  • She was awesome and so was her eq!

  • wow, what am amazing course! i think this is the BEST i have seen her. well done, absolutly flawless.

  • yeah amigo is at my barn , except he kinda just sits around only the trainers ride him , the girl who owns him dousnt ride anymore

  • Haha, I was sitting across the ring from you during this event. What a really neat horse show!

  • She has flawless equitation. And it is so funny, I was sitting right across from you at this!!!!!lol

  • I hope she wins the Maclay this year!

  • did she win that?! ....its so cool the horse she rode in road to maclay ( the tv show) is at my barn!! , amigo!!
