I actually went to google earth and looked at this thing for myself. I will concede that it does establish Vatican City as a country.

However the city itself falls within the geographical confines of the city of Rome.

On what grounds do you consider Vatican city to be outside the city of Rome?

As mentioned in the earlier comment, Rome is a city with borders, not a single point on the geographical map.

It is still a sovereign country within a country. It has it's own government, it belongs to itself and independent of the city Rome or the country of Italy. And as you saw with the 3d overlay of ancient Rome - the old pagan city of Rome doesn't fall in the boundaries of the Country of the Vatican.

Bingolly, that may be your strongest point yet. However that google map highlights ancient Roman monuments. It doesn't highlight all of the housing and other secondary infrastructure that exist during that time which I believe would have stretched far across the river.

Also I don't think we can draw borders based on monument location.

I said, "seven hills in the book of rev represents seven kings not seven hills. The whore is the city where the Lord was crucified.

Point being scripture tells us the hills are not literal hills, but 7 kings (powers). Just as it tells the city.

Rev 11:8 their bodies shall lie in the streets of the [great city], which is called spiritually, Sodom and Egypt, [where their Lord also was crucified.]

How do you explain Abraham, being the father of the Jews and the Muslims? Abraham is still the common father of all three religions. I read the articles from people who were there, the Pope was showing respect to those who gave him the Quran. Pope John Paul II was not worshiping it. He could have been smelling the leather for all I know, I don't see his lips firmly planted on it in the pics. And if he did kiss it, the bible does say to greet each other with a holy kiss. He was simple showing respect since he is also the head of state of his country when he travels.

Also you don't know his heart, but because I have read the writings of Pope John Paul II I know he had a tremendous love for the God our Father, the Son Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit (Trinity) and he had a sincere love for people and the dignity of all people. When I saw the picture my thought was of him praying for them, praying for their conversion and for the Holy Spirit to move their hearts. Protestant want to see evil in every action, instead of good.

The roots come from Abraham our common ancestor. The Jews also reject Christ and the Trinity. We are to teach them salvation comes through Christ and teach Muslims that Christ was more than a prophet and to the Jewish people that Christ is their Messiah. How can this be accomplished without at least mutual respect for them as part of our human family. Pope John Paul II wrote about the Quran and said there was no salvation in it. Pope Benedict XVI has a clear grasp on the history of Islam.
