  • Joe Scarborough is an imbecile.

  • ah Mika your sooooooo sexy!

  • Daniel Hannan isn’t a proper political figure, he’s a MEP and that means they are failed national political party member, MEPs are also bought off like the American politicians - I would stone him first if he ever tried to run as a Tory MP for Wandsworth. I might be a Tory supporter but I believe in keeping our NHS, it’s our right as is the right to vote, access to an education & access to a state pension. Daniel Hannan is on the EU gravy train, with the other slimy scum of Europe.

  • @TheFireHorseUK Its not the governments job to provide you with health care and free college. Sorry but life sucks and we got to get over it.

  • @cwood4ever Was there any point in that comment, clearly you are a person of few words, with no knowledge in Hannan’s work (Iceland + Rep Party should raise a question from you) and lack of research (Alt to NHS system) nor did you ever studied Sociology as you would clearly acknowledge the importance of a country’s healthy and educated work force in business.

Come back to me on your opinion on Hannan’s Iceland stance, see if you read reports and publications other than YouTube comments.

  • @TheFireHorseUK Well I'm not British and I dont know Mr. Hannan's history and I really dont care but is this video, his discussion on the spending problems of Europe and America and the point about not making the same mistake of the 1930's financial problems are...how do you Brits say?...Spot On Chap!

  • @TheFireHorseUK I read your comment concerning Daniel Hannan's stance on Iceland and was curious so I looked it up. I assume you were referring to his correct assertion that the Icelandic people don't owe a damned thing. If an International bank stationed in Britain failed to meet its obligations, would you think it your responsibility to cover for them, by having a portion of your income taken from you for the next 50 years? I don't see whats wrong with speaking out against slavery.

  • @TheFireHorseUK , Thanks for mentioning the Iceland issue. I researched it myself and found another reason to support Daniel Hannan.

  • Daniel Hannan was born and grew up in Peru to multi millionaire ultra far right wing parents. Given the most expensive tuition and private education money can buy. Never unless he needs emergency aid in the UK use the NHS. Now lives in Spain, never had to work for his vast wealth unless its self promotion to further his own self interests and political agenda the leader of the British Conservative party had every right to "slap him down". He is a slimy creature and not doing tories any favours

  • @TheFireHorseUK Very well said. The guy is an idiot.

  • @Dendiol - Well it had to be said – too many idiots out there thinking Hannan is a worthy politician for the Tories – I disagree – strongly.

To anyone who thinks he is good for Britain, I ask them to do the research on Hannan first, proper research not just YouTube comments....

  • @TheFireHorseUK What's with the agenda to smear this guy? He seems perfectly reasonable and it is no indictment against a person or their views if they should happen to be wealthy. Must one be poor, or dependent on some social welfare program or another for their views to be credible? For one who claims to be a Tory you seem to scent 'ultra far-right' winds in these rather calm statements. It seems even the most slightly disparaging comment about the welfare state strikes you as evil. Why?

  • @TheFireHorseUK

So when you go to the doctor for cancer treatment, you'd rather the doctor have had cancer himself before he treats you?

  • To both comments below: the Nazis only appeared collectivist to create the illusion of class unity. All 'they were socialist' rhetoric is total bollocks. True democratic socialism promotes equal rights for the assembly of each and every union. He consolidated all trade unions into one German Labour Front for totalitarian control of the country. If anything, that is Stalinism. Stalin wasn't a democratic socialist. And the Nazis' social policy is not socialist by any stretch of the imagination.

  • He's like a death camp doctor eeeew!☺

  • Limeys, take note. Pay attention to this guy, maybe get him a PM job after Cameron.

  • Mr. Hannan, you are too smart for MSNBC.

  • when we get back to honest politicians like this, we will be much better of than today, where the masjority are corrupt financially and morally

  • Fuck this guy. He just wants to be a massive celebrity.

Get your traitorous face out of Glenn Beck's arse, Daniel.

  • @jimbobjimminy fuck you and obama. Get your traitorous face out of obama arse you cocksucker.

  • @TheAntinode Lol when does Obama come into this? I'm calling Hannan traitorous to the UK, which is where I am from.

I love that you've brought Obama up. I'm hardly a massive fan.

  • @jimbobjimminy The video on your channel shows like every liberal your obsession to over hype obama.

  • @jimbobjimminy If you don't want to look at him, don't look him up.

  • Daniel Hannan England's euro mp for the 18 th century .

  • @buddacafe, Plz learn first, then spew ignorance if you still have any.

Joe Scarbarough is a former Conservative Republican Congressman. This is and always has been a Conservative show on a news channel that includes voices from both the Left and Right. It just looks like a Liberal News Channel for anybody from RW hate radio or fox news because MSNBC provides facts and equal opportunity for the Left.

  • @lurchutube Typical leftist response. Instead of addressing issues, call names like a first grader: hate, mean spirited, racist. No substance. Don't forget, the Nazi party was a socialist party, as is every totalitarian gov. MSNBC's not a liberal network. That is rich, bc MSNBC's parent network disagreed with you when it pulled former Tip O'Neill's ex-staffer Chris Matthews & Keith Olbermann from covering the Repub Nat Conv for being unequal.

  • @jkirk1626 The Nazis WERE NOT a socialist party. No socialist party would've amalgamated ALL trade unions into one (German Labour Front) to give the state totalitarian control over the population. TYPICAL right-wing response. Hannan wants a return to Victorian Britain, when there was mass unemployment, no safety net for poor (the NHS - which has been shown to work) and the encouragement of reactionary behaviour.

  • @TomatoNanny Hitler joined the German Workers' Party in 1919 encouraging national pride and militarism. He changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German Workers' Party, called for short, the Nazi Party. By the end of 1920, the Nazi Party had about 3,000 members. A year later Hitler became its official leader, or Führer. He changed the meaning of socialist to disguise his true political engine of choice: Fascism. He may not have been a Socialist, but he claimed to be.

  • @jinalpa64 You're missing my point though. The Nazis were not a socialist party, no matter how Hitler may have dressed it up. They were about as socialist as I am George Bush. Hitler used the term 'socialist' to make the workers feel as if they weren't being set upon when their trade unions were messed around with in order to fuel a fascist grip on workers. You cannot say they were a socialist party, they employed no socialist policies. Bottom line.

  • @TomatoNanny Just because Hitler was not socialist does not make Socialism a good thing. All Socialists eventually run out of other people's money. That has been proven time and time again. Of the four ways to spend money, spending your own money on yourself is always the most efficient. We are neither entitled to be unselfish at someone else's expense, nor is there any merit in being unselfish if we have no choice.

  • @jinalpa64 hitler was a socialist... fail

  • @TomatoNanny What are you talking about? They used government power to seize the production of private businesses to convert them over to their spending programs, to force businesses to create jobs, and sued that money to invest in social welfare programs. He used a combination of German pride and socialist welfare to win the support of the people. He took everything they owned, even their freedom, and promised them that as longs as they trusted him he would give them a better world. Socialism.

  • @TomatoNanny Protectionism, nationalisation and of course the collectivist principles which define a socialist state. They employed no socialist policies you say? That is a nonsense my friend - they, like their mussolini-led friends and the current day BNP, are the very definition of "National socialism" The UK media, by and large, simply have a leftist bias and the term "far-Right" has become a meaningles byword for "bad guys." Never the media cloud the truth for you.

  • "You know that things have gotten bad when the French start lecturing United States leaders on spending too much." LMFAO, so true!

  • This is a liberal new channel. Did anyone else notice the body and face expressions of these two reporters? They look like they are talking to the enemy and didnt appreciate his famous comment.

  • i fuck hate usa tv and whats wrong with france and germany they have a better economy than uk but uk has a far better military

  • What is it with the hubub and phone ringing in the background. It must be file noise designed to make everything sound 'busy'!

  • The mass media swine address this MEP as "Daniel" instead of "Mr.Hannan". Greetings!

  • This guy is awesome!

  • 7:04, Daniel Hannan predicted the conservative victory 14 months ago--brilliant!

  • @realistindenial wasn't really hard to predict though

  • what a little tory boy turd

  • Hannan for PM !!!!!

  • @snakeinthegrass20 you have to be kidding this man is right wing tosser

  • @MrStewart149 thats a good argument. do you vote on that logic? no wonder britain is a mess.

  • @bonfirejovi no he is a tosser his own party have had to distance itself from his comments on his tour of right wing tv stations telling lies about the n h s during the us debates on health cover. his stance on social policy belongs in the 18 century . namely the poor will just have to suffer and accept charity from the rich if they feel guilty enough as to his views on the e u . well he strikes me as just another little englander . so like i said a TOSSER .

  • @MrStewart149 what lies? can you name any? the nhs is an inefficient organization where a lot of money is wasted on red tape and is in the doldrums. people are considering whether people beyond a certain age should have health care at all. why? because there is no money. labours excessive spending as done wonders to our debt. he strikes you? so you have a bad feeling about him and that why you dont like him? the reason our country is in a mess is because they way people like you vote.

  • @bonfirejovi no they are not and you know it stop spoutting rubbish and he strikes me as a right wing nutter as he is a right wing nutter.

  • @MrStewart149 ya they are, youtube wont let me post a link but type in "elderly patients nhs reform sky" in google and it is the first article. gordon brown the communist as led us to debt and destruction, he is a pure left wing loony. almost as statist the left wing racist nick griffin who wants to nationalize practically everything.

  • DANIEL HANNAN THE MEP FOR THE 18 hundreds

  • Hannan For Prime Minister!!

THIS is the man and THIS is the view that the UK NEEDS right now! Socialism has failed, our rights and freedoms have been and continue to be stripped of us - we need to stand up for our FREEDOM, for DEMOCRACY!

    HANNAN FOR PRIME MINISTER!!

  • ma velke usi ako meciar,,,bacha :)

  • He's my MEP!

  • @hi262779 The problem with this clip is that both of the American interviewers are a bit on the dense side. The woman interviewer asks, rhetorically, "Is America the Bernie Madoff of all countries?" What a daft, inane questionj.

Far better if Hannan had been interviewed by Jeremy Paxman. Hannan will never get within an ass's roar of being Prime Minister in the U.K. As one of the other posters observed, his views are extreme and do not represent those of the Conservative party.

  • I agree.

  • Its pMSNBC, the worst at news reporting.

  • @1957Rotu no because the conservatives are racist and are for bailing out incompetent banks whereas he is not a racist and is for incompetent banks failing. hannan's views are similar to jeffersons whereas david cameron and his welfare agenda are similar to hitler, mao and stalin. which one is more extreme?

  • @hi262779 He's mine too Ohh dear

  • @applefanpc Indeed.. Oh well at least they have no power.

  • you've got my vote pal. and i'm not even european.

  • @LordAgonis You probably read Hannan's book as well. Your comment is just so intelligent and perceptive, there's no way you could not have read Hannan's book.

  • Future Prime Minister, best speaker in the UK.

  • *of the NHS.

  • As a politics student of the past five years, I'll tell you how the British feel about him: they think he's an extremist who is one if the few people who want rid if NHS.

The bloke is simply out of touch and has been slated by the British media.

  • @newheadliner81

At what university were you a politics student?

Given that you've spuriously referred to the authority of the media and the average British person to validate your criticism of Hannan, I'm guessing that it wasn't Oxbridge.

  • what's their to study? it's all lies!

  • THANK GOD!

  • fantastically put intheblood1, couldnt have put it better myself

  • actually it was government regulation and central bank inflation

  • the states is what, 13 trillion dollars in debt now, how is it currupt to want the government to stop spending so much and money and even to start paying back the debt??

  • um hannan hates the status quo

  • Just to refute this - I am British and he is by no means the joke of Britain. He is one of the few MEPs who actually expresses a view that represents the majority of the British people.

  • Comment removed

  • I hadn't seen his NHS rubbishing. I have now and I totally disagree with him on that!

I know you'd like to cast me off as a Tory touting Daily Mail reader because that would fit with your narrow view of the world but I'm afraid I am not. I fit more in the guardian reading hippy bracket.

However, his views regarding Europe are completely accurate. The loss of our right to overturn decisions made by the European Parliament will cause issues for us all, mark my words.

  • I love this man

  • The way things are going in Europe and America you cant get more authoritarian if you tried. This guy has stood up for democracy many a time and thats all that matters right now as we're losing our rights behind the scenes.

  • why the hell would he join the bnp? the bnp want higher military spending, higher nhs spending, protectionist trade tariffs, and deregulated police and hate free trade, hannan wants lower military spending, privatized and partly government subsidised healthcare, free trade and police regulated through democratic methods, and he said he disagreed with what enoch powell said about immigration. politicians don't always fit neatly into left wing/right wing groups

  • NHS 6th largest employer in world, worst cancer survival rates in Europe( save ex communist states).W.H.O. stats) Record # of Brits going abroad to PAY AGAIN for prompt safe treatment. Records of deaths from C Difficile covered up The NHS like the Euro Parliament accounts grossly inefficent and corrupt You have difficulties with health provision, but most medical advances flow from the U.S health system

  • NHS is worse than a private system mostly because public money always tend to be wasted on bureaucracy. Capitalistic approach isn't perfect, but it is much better when it comes to spending money rationally but the people who have it.

  • Sorry, for the typo - it should have been "by the people who have it"

  • ..."a reclusive figure.....who comes out blinking like a mole into the sunlight" hahaha! Another awesome line by Dan.

  • obama is leading us toward this hellish type government

  • daniel hannan speaks for the people who deserve to be british. people who are disillusioned!

  • Hannan does want to get rid of the NHS and with good reason. How many horror stories come out of that leviathan bureaucracy weekly? As for the U.S. healthcare system, he isn't arguing for the status quo. He has repeatedly said that the problem with U.S. healthcare is too much government. Our healthcare sector is the most mandated, subsidized, regulated part of our economy. We don't want more of the left's so-called reform. That isn't the same thing as saying we don't want changes.

  • It's your problem if you died. People die all over the world asking for help and nobody notice. Why do you think you are better than them?

  • Not better than others, I don't consider myself in that way. I do consider myself to be fortunate (a) to be alive, thanks to the British NHS and (b) fortunate to have medical treatment available when needed, without having to worry if it could be afforded.

  • The problem we have lies in ethics. Should we help other people when they have serious problems or not? Should this help come from the people themselves or soulless institutions? Which is more productive?

I'm a libertarian so I generally dislike any state intervention. But I understand that capitalism doesn't always work well in this particular issue. On the other hand there are dozens of NHSes in the world that don't do a good job either. So, we have a deadlock.

  • If the problem lies in ethics, is it ethical for any countries health service to be privately run for profit?

  • Of course it is! That is - it might be. It's what I was trying to point out in my last post. It depends on what do we believe in? Where's justice? For some people it is immoral to steal money and give it to others like Robin Hood did, for others it is immoral to let people die even if they are despicable (this is a view from opponents of corporal punishment).

The problem is that there are no absolute morals and we have to choose which one we view as better.

  • I don't think Robin Hood really did much redistribution of wealth.

Personally I find no problem with a levy being raised, according to ability to pay and redistributed in health care according to individual need.

On the subject of capital punishment (I think this is what you meant) I believe that to condone this would put an individual on a par with the criminal.

Although, as you have pointed out, I would expect and respect differing points of view even if I couldn't agree with them.

  • The problem with "ability to pay" is that people don't have it when they don't produce. It's kind of how and why money works as a counter of contributions.

  • You have no idea what my point was. I have not wrote anything about what I think is right or wrong, I just pointed out that there are many kinds of morals, so for some people it is immoral to let murderer live. Your statement about legendary Robin proves that you don't understand me at all.

There's no point in continuing our exchange of thoughts, because you stray from the subject.

  • I wondered how long you would be able to continue a sensible debate and probably best to finish as you've been writing rubbish. Not knowing the difference between corporal and capital punishment proved that you were not very bright.

  • It's a ridiculous assumption. English is not my first language so I had a right to make such a mistake. But if you want to be so cocky and praise yourself like that - go on, everyone has the right to bullshit himself. ;)

  • invertuo.....I see you Irish system is funded by your sweepstakes game. Sounds like a real IRISH way of health funding, someone having a bet. Whats the prizes No1 heart transplant....No2 A new prostate. Dont talk crap Irishman.

  • This new worlder lickspittle Richard Haas trying to pimp out his managed world trade agreement makes me sick.

I wonder what Hannan really thinks about this.

  • Partly to do with the ludicrous level of public spending.

The US also spends too much, but mostly because it persues a tactic that hides the problem.

Why isn't there any sort of movement in Britain towards this? I say, it's NYFM.

That being, Not Your (expletive) Money.

I'd hope some people would realise that it's NTFM before the whole thing breaks down

  • Life expectancy is only marginally shorter and is calculated DIFFERENTLY in different regions. Therefore the statistics are unreliable.

Obesity is as a result of Americans' affinity for fast food, it's actually that simple.

The NHS (and I've experienced it first-hand) is one of the worst government systems in the world and incomparable to the US's. The QUALY system is abhorrent

  • haha bullshit..in polls ive seen the majority of people in the uk are unhappy with the nhs.plus life saving breast cancer drugs arnt even available there.obesity and health is the american lifestyle has nothing to do with government

  • How does obesity have anything to do with Healthcare? Or even life expectancy? The question is how long is your life expectancy once you contract one of these diseases and without fail, people under private systems have a far better time of it.

  • American healthcare system keeps people alive but sickly. Not only are we sickly we don't live as long. We are ranked #50 in life expectancy. We also have by far the most expensive healthcare system on the planet, yet our healthcare system ranks below almost every other industrialized democracy.

  • you just hate reality.

  • Well there it is.....Joe Scarborough, on MSNBC of all places, asks the ultimate question that no liberal can answer at 3:30... "Why do people blindly follow government that seem intent on bankrupting them?"

  • Former liberal member of the Canadian Parliament Belinda Stronach once said that canadian health care system was "superior" to the US. Then she abandoned the Canadian health care system to undergo cancer treatement in California. Haha

  • @atrainwillmar It's pretty accurate though. The USA spends more on health care per head of the population than Britain (which has a fully socialised system) does.

  • @atrainwillmar ...didn't the premier of Newfoundland do that as well?

  • why do we have to fill out the forms? because it's so freaking regulated that we can't do anything BUT do paper work. oh and btw if you're bleeding to death you go straight to the ER and we save your ass. no paperwork needed until afterwards so fuck off.

  • This guy makes a lot of sense. I wish all politicians were like him and spoke the truth, instead of being smarmy and appealing to people's fears and misconceptions.

The keynesian policies of Labour have clearly failed and socialism can only ever live on borrowed time.

  • you need to ask why this guy gets on american national news but not on british news?

  • And we don't want to be like the UK (no offense) or Cuba. Daniel, we'll take all of the advice that we can get.

  • I wouldn't want to break an arm anywhere but if I had to it would be in America. Best doctors, best medicine, best quality. For me personally, quality trumps price. I like as many choices as possible. Highest survival rate than any other country on earth for 13 of the 16 most common cancers. Yeah, I think I'll stay here.

  • Well, evidently, he has got a clue about British poitics and is implementing them better than Brown is! He is completely right in saying that you cant borrow your way out of debt. You just create a bigger problem

  • Hannan is on the lunatic fringe of the Conservative party. He is on the verge of being thrown out of the Conservative party and is definitely losing his seat in the next election.

    And he is factually wrong.

Truth is that he is one goose-step short of being a Nazi. He hates the NHS because it was created by a Labour government, and by implication must therefore be bad.

  • why does he have such a grudge against the NHS? it's not like he uses the service, he's got enough money to be part of the Nuffield Trust.

  • Shut it Beavis. I have a Job. Where did you get that from?, dumb American

  • Who is this c0ck, and why is half of America believing every word he says? F*ckin Tories man, quick to forget that they oversaw the ERM debacle and now showing their true colours regarding the NHS. Sure the NHS is expensive, but when I get ill I dont want to find out that my insurance doesn't cover my illness and end up with no treatment. I'm not a f*cking car with a dodgy alternator. I'm sure Hannan can afford the best of health cover but then I'm sure his expenses claim will cover it! Arseh0le

  • weak

  • ...not as weak as a one word critique!!

  • Daniel Hannan is an elitist fool. He may be correct that Gordon Brown and Obama are spending like its going out of fashion. That said the Vast majority of economists say we needed the stimuluses. Also Daniel Hannans views regarding the NHS are completely out of touch with the british publics and he has also seriously misrepresented the reality of the NHS too. I have now come to the conclusion he is a attention seeking ignorant loud mouth trying to exploit situations for his own publicity.

  • You're not being fair: he never said he was speaking for the British public when he spoke about the NHS. I'd rather have someone like Dan Hannan who freely speaks his mind, especially when it's against the majority view, than what we have in the UK: sheep-like politicians who swallow their pride every day and blather out the party line

  • your argument is weak.

  • Right wing yuppie bastard. Get ill in the US and have no insurance and see what happens to you evil bastard. Stop spending on wars and spend on health.

  • Hannan you lying, traitorous little prick, how DARE you run down the NHS! You are attacking the British people. How do you think the poor would afford healthcare without the NHS, or do you not care?

How many times have you and your family been saved by the NHS?

You, sir, are a hypocrite and a traitor.

Fuck off to America where the Repubs will love your "cute British accent" and your Right Wing BS. You are a disgrace to the UK. How much are the Republicans paying you for this?!

  • Long live the NHS! Let hope David Cameron has some balls and puts you in your place.

  • agreed

  • You should get some balls and a job and not rely on the govt for everything.

  • Right on...the guy's an arse hole!

  • The drugs dont work, you know.

  • I love this guy! I see the the UK doesn't like the US speaking badly of their health care. This guy can't make them happy. I think (and hope) he may come here. He can't stop talking about the Constitution. We welcome you Daniel!!!!!!!

  • Indeed. I'm British and can tell you the vast majority of people here have no understanding of liberty, your Constitution or founders.

People aren't taught in school to think for themselves and open their mind to concepts that break the status-quo (the status-quo being left-wing, socialism, big government).

But yeah, I'd wish Hannan would go to America because there has to be at least one country in the world that operates on the principles of freedom. Hannan would be a good addition.

  • absolutely correct. the british people do not value freedom in the slightest. that are sheep. they never question anything, and swallow everything that is fed to them by the left-wing media.

  • bullshit.

  • thank you.

  • no problem, pal!

  • So if you've seen that we don't like it, don't you think it might just be because he lying? Because he is.

The National Health Service is a decent, free health service for everyone, not just rich people.

You'll notice that the World Health Organisation rank the current American health service as the 37th best in the world, while they rank the UK as the 18th. That would mean the NHS is better than the private American system.

  • As I said, you love - you keep it. We don't want it here.

  • How come there are never any assasinations of British MP's, Daniel Hannan would be top of my list to get shot.

  • He's an MEP! which means he has nothing to do with the NHS and does NOT represent us on this issue
