  • I bet I can do that, if I knew what all the steps were..

  • this child was my idol when i was very young and i have always wanted to tap dance like her, so i have been taking lessons since i was 2...im 14 now and im still not as good as her!!!

  • Not the only one, but Shirley dud som very "Synchronisched" dances.

unbelievable regarding her age.. She was Great? She was cute? She is still great.

  • Good lord, that dress is short.

  • @aprilstarchild79 maybe, but she was a kid, and it was the style. I think its cute!

  • @aprilstarchild79 That was the style. Like now it's off the shoulder neon tops and skinny jeans. ;)

  • this reminds me of the movie what ever happened to baby jane

  • What an absolute incredible marvel she was- nothing like her since. And a remarkable woman as well. The world is a better place-and certainly America is- for having Shirley Temple. You could someone of this calibre of talent and uplifting movies like this now. I guess that was a simpler and less sophisticated time. Are we happier today?

    -Bill

  • She was perfect in every sense of the word! I made my mom buy me that outfit including the white sox and shoes and I just love it. Thanks for posting it :)

  • im doing her for a report

  • I <3 Shirley Templee<3

But I love how they walk around with tap shoes on:p

  • che bella coppia

  • Pure delight. Heartwarming, joyful and sweet. A real tonic for our times -- just as a film like this was for the Great Depression. It really lifts my spirits. Thank you for posting this gem!

  • How old was Shirley in this? She looks so adorable. I love her clothing here.

  • I would say she was way too young in this video but I wouldn't mind being with her back in 1948. Just watch the film Fort Apache & you'll see what I'm talking about.

  • You know what I don't care what others say I love watching Shirley Temple films and if that means I'm stupid then I'm stupid :)

  • Woo Hoo! What a pretty and talented girl she was and still is! :D

  • my Dad allways watched these movies and now I do too :)

  • @XxBlossomtreexX

    freakin pedophiles ....

  • @thegodthatdied nope- you're wrong there- Shirley temple was the most incredibly talented young actress, singer, dancer ever- and she gave America at the time what it needed most in the depth of the depression- hope, fun, happy music, happy endings and a little bit of entertainment to forget the hard times. That she became a wonderful intelligent and capable woman is further testament to her unique talent.

America, and the world, is better off for having ShirleyTemple.

    -Bill in Canada

  • @baghend

    ok, you're right

  • @thegodthatdied Thanks. But you have a point as well, of course- there are creeps that are attracted to this for other reasons- but then there are people who get off on shoes, faeces, goats and used underwear. I'm sorry for them.

But Shirley Temple and the times-the '30's- were unique- desperate times for millions, people looking for a little sunshine, and she gave it to them. Same as the our Gang comedies, Mac Senate, Hal Roach ones too- Laurel and Hardy-

    The golden age of Hollywood

  • @baghend

So basically, Hollywood saved America by distracting everyone =p

  • @thegodthatdied I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right- just like the "bread and circuses" of the Romans, or the mindless drivel on TV today, the sports, consumerism and religion- esp. in the States- is perhaps what's keeping people dumbed down, distracted, divided, apathetic (most), and entertained enough to not realize how they're being screwed by corporations, government, military, and mislead by superstitious beliefs.

Nothing much has changed since Little Miss Broadway.

    -Bill

  • @baghend

True, true.... like they'd say in that Budweiser commercial =)

  • @thegodthatdied Must have missed that one. Anyway, I'm a hash devotee from the '60's.

    Peace, Dude.

  • I love her. and when she passes this video is going to have a billion views. sad

  • Shirley Temple <3 ,I used to own a whole collection of her movies.Love Love Love 'Em.

  • It's sad how If Shirley Temple had been born 60 years later, she would have been branded as fat, short, ugly, with a horrible voice and and an an even worse singing voice.

  • @elephantasmic I know many young people who have seen Shirley on old movies or youtube for the first time, and I have never heard one negative comment about her appearance. I grew up almost at the same age as Shirley, and I

wanted to marry her when I was six years old.

  • I love how in most of these Shirley Temple movies everyone always wears tap shoes xD

  • shes not a little baby here anymore haha

  • For a very personal reason, this is my favorite Shirley Temple song - and film scene

  • This kind of reminds me of that sequence in Annie 'i don't need anything but you'. Bur better of course xD

  • This is absolutly darling. She could dance anything, sing anything and wear anything. She never fails to make me smile. Thank you for posting this. My copy of the movie broke :( I need to get a new one.

  • que linda era esta niña era un encanto de la verdadera niñez ;si tuviera una niña me gustaria tenerla asi de bonita y dulce como shirley pero bueno falata mucho me encanta todas sus peliculas

  • was shirley temple an orphan?

  • Comment removed

  • great moves

  • They are so smart. :) But , so much orphans after the wars.

  • tap dance.......how i love it:D

  • after showing my friend all my Shirley Temple movies, I asked her what she thought; she said, "are all orphans such friggin awesome dancers??" LOL!

  • She was a wonderful dancer, It' s ,very amazing,!!, i liked so much!

  • how old is Shirley in this

  • @thatchification she was 10

  • they are good :) :) :) :) :) <3

  • this is a very good song ^^ I love her when she sang with Bill Robinson, the straw hat song. that's some nice melody I haven't heard in a long time ^^

  • George Murphy was underrated. He always said he was just an old song and dance guy, but wow he had talent!

  • I grew up watching her and thanks to videos I can share then with my mieces we love watching her together. A true group of movies to grow up on. Just wonderful

  • GO MISS BRODY D LOL LOL LOL

  • look at her legs there jacked ,,,

  • those soundstages were magnificent in the day --- Huge!!!

  • i love this one!! and her outfit:) thanks for sharing! xx

  • OH SNAP THAT WAS SO BOSS. SO MUCH BETTER THAN DANCING WITH THE STARS.

  • oh my goodness. Her hair and that little hat are just so adorable.

  • This is my Favorite Shirley Temple MOvie!

  • i bet justin bieber cant jump how he jumped at 1:49

  • I just love this! It always makes me want to dance.

And I agree with somebody's comment below, George Murphy's move onto the table is about as smooth as it gets.

Thank you so much for posting. "You're a peachy pie"

  • lol

  • wow, back then you couldn't just be good at just singing or just dancing or just acting. you had to be EXCELLENT at all three. Talent back then was superb and relied on mastering their skills before they even had much exposure. UNLIKE TODAY. O.o

  • @QuoGirl AMEN

  • I love this scene! "Little Miss Broadway is my favorite Shirley Temple film. Thanks!

  • That movement onto the table that George Murphy makes at about 1:49 always amazes me, even though I've watched this video probably 100 times. Murphy doesn't jump, leap, or hop onto that table--he literally glides...vertically! What a wonderful talent!

  • Maravillosa

  • I loved this movie as a kid.

Havnt seen it in years though, but it brings back good memories :)

  • By the time Shirley made this movie, she had been the most popular movie star throughout the world for five consecutive years, and she was still only ten years old ! Since then I don't believe any actor at any age has ever done that.

  • Thanks for posting this. I have had many fond memories of watching this with George. He was the best grandfather!

  • The guy Shirley is tapping with later served one term in the US Senate, representing California. George Murphy's election is one of the things which covinced Ronald Reagan that an ex performer could be taken seriously in electoral politics.

  • wow, that's a talented kid. Sorry, but i don't see this nowadays.

  • her movies brought a lot of joy to a lot of people during the hard times of the 30s! Thanks for the post

  • @lpvcrcd they still do. :)

  • There's nothing like a dose of Shirley to cheer someone up!

  • does anyone else think this is really similar to the dance from the 1999 version of Annie? I mean, down the the table and the set. Plus a little girl dancing with an older man about being together. I wonder if Disney intentionally "copied" this.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter. But I love Shirley!! She's so cute and talented!!

  • @Biancafan22 i really thought the same thing

  • I thought the same thing!

  • @Biancafan22 I just saw this and thought the same thing. They ripped it off, but it was a good thing. It was very nice. Too bad that 1999 Disney version just didn't quite do it for me, but there were some good parts including the dance with Daddy Warbucks.

  • I love this!

    Come Visit my channel

  • I am trying to learn this dance, i almost got it!!

    love it soo muchh :)<3

  • That was such a cute routine!

  • This is a great appearance.I'm enthusiastic. I have a question.

Name from this movie? In advance thanks.

  • Name for this movie? "Little Miss Broadway"

  • Thank you for the information.Nice to hear from you.

  • @sarahluvsshirley I love George Murphy I think he was one of the best dance/sing partners for shirley and other stars he was always smooth, classy and great voice

  • @serapidus PREACH ON ! ( :

  • thansk for uploading this! i couldn't find it anywhere .

    love shirley for life *

  • I love this dance routine -it's the best of the best!

  • I do this routine nearly every morning when I enter my building for work. (The security guards at the front desk never seem to be impressed. They tend to look away... :-/

  • HA HA THAT'S GOOD!

  • HA well you got it. HA!

  • u ever thought of standup- ha ha funny

  • Comment removed

  • George Murphy was one of the best dancers, best actors and one of the best looking men in Hollywood! WHEW!!!

  • @RobinPratt He ended up in the US Senate

  • Now that's entertainment.

Too bad Hollywood has lost the formula.

  • I couldn't agree more! Hollywood has def gone to the dogs.

  • if people keep going to these crazy -violent movies-they will still make them-so movies are good-but few and far between

  • @Perrygodmother oh if only they really had, the industry might be a better place, they merely updated it for the 'masses'

  • @eojadiius Do you think they "updated" for the masses or are they pandering to the lowest common demominator? Who are few. They are not making a profit that's for sure.

  • Comment removed

  • oh i always used to watch this film when i was at my gran's i knew this routine off by heart!

  • This is like my favorite dance number of Shirley :D and my fave film too!

  • Please keep posting more Shirley! i love her!

  • I'm so glad you put this up! It's one of my favourite scenes. It used to be here then it was taken down.

  • By The Way , I have this movie

  • Really? Can you upload it? Please?

  • I haven't seen this in like....forever! Thanks for posting!

  • Happy Birthday Shirley Temple <3 <3 <3

  • It's one of the best.

Shirley mentioned in her autobiography that the original choreography for this dance was a disaster. Both she and George Murphy were frustrated because apparently it made them both look awkward. I believe it was George Murphy (with some help from Shirley I imagine) went off and completely redid it.

She also went onto mention how she loved twirling in that dress. :)

  • I love that scene it alvays makes me smile I don't know why some people say rhat this isn't good movie I think it's very good :-)
