  • My buddies and I sing this when we're on the way home drunk :)

  • Can't stop singing this song, its the most sarcastic and melancholic tune of all time. I get the chills every time with these brilliant lyrics. You live on Syd, in our hearts and souls.

  • One of my heros right there

  • LSD can trigger Schizophrenia, so they say...this is Syd's 'farewell' song of sorts...RIP Syd, peace. Thanks for it all.

  • Wow! Just say no to drugs, kids.

  • Poor Roger. Wish you were Here man.

  • shine on you Crazy Diamond :)

  • shine on you fucking crazy diamond.

  • *squeeze him tight haha

  • when he says what exactly is a dream and what exactly is a joke, its sounds so sad, like hes trying to figure out whats real or if this life is just a big game. God let me meet this man in Heaven so i can aqueeze him tight!!

  • @oldsoulzeppelingirl I think that even in his sate of mind during that recording session he still had a very good sense of humor and was being sarcastic, but who really knows for sure.

  • And i don't care if the sun don't shines... Love the lyrics of this song but it's kind of sad you can see how sad syd was feeling :s

  • Is he the singer from Modern Talking? Looks a lot like him..........lalalalalala

  • SYD!

  • That was quite a bad trip. Not literally, just felt some bad vibrations seeing this.

  • Pink Floyd is by far the best band ever. Too bad we never got witness Syd Barret's true genius as he became a more experienced musician. RIP, Shine On.

  • After seeing this, I FEEL like I'm tripping. wow.

  • if this were the only song on earth, i'd be happy.

  • Lets not cry over Syd, he did not get completely destroyed by the drugs like many others, he quit the big music business and lived with his family painting.

  • The most beutiful spirit who ever lived on this fucked up planet!!

R.I.P Crazy diamond, in the psychadelic heaven of yours were ever you are

im looking out on Jerald for you :)

  • You were a great person Syd and a great friend. R.I.P.

  • Yeah I guess not wanting to be a rock star any more is not particularly a sign of mental illness, just something us normal mortals find hard to understand.

  • ITS BIG WONDER TO LISTEN AND WATCH TO SID BOTH at the same time

  • Syd wanted to prove that picking up a guitar and singing was just as easy as putting the guitar down and walking back home to his mum's house. He did just that and i totally got what he was all about. Thank you Syd RIP

  • It's awfully considerate of us to mention the people who disliked this video. They just want to make it clear that their taste of good music is nonexistent.

  • @thesilentskeptic your hella lame

  • He is an idol of melancholy interest. He was a great musician.

I wish he did more, I'd listen to it all!

  • The world will never see such a great musician ever again as far as I'm concerned.

  • wow the pioneer of psychedelic rock...long live Syd Barrett...one of the greats

  • 36 people are faggots and ingrates. This poor soul was the architect of prog rock.

  • I like the "last video we're playing together" feeling this gives

  • he's like a younger more demented willy wonka on acid

  • syd is pink! the others are....floyd!

  • syd is pink! the other are....floyd!

  • syd at this stage seems to have that vacant blink that drugs cause ,such a rapid decline.

  • Syd was amazing

  • Shine on you crazy diamond, Syd.

  • This video makes me sad :) is so perfect

  • This is one of my favorite songs from Syd Barret.

  • yust because of syd i do lsd!!!!!!! and now i can see barretts reality!!!!

  • @210m818 you sir, are an idiot

  • @AliBenBaba haha yust because you're right,,im not gonna insult you,,,,,it is pretty dumb to do lsd,,but not if you do it yust a couple of times

  • @210m818

not really... because apparently you are not distraught, broken and saddend by the ridiCLUElessness of the whole of humanities futile anthill living (and you should be rather glad about that.. really... unless you like to die inside of the inability to convey what is inside your skinsuits soul, haphazard)

  • @expoonation real fuckin deep man

  • Definitely thinking that every Syd Barrett fan is somewhat fucked up! And I am definitely one of them!!!

  • Syd is the greatest. Shine on and RIP

  • el debraye entero

  • Syd was quite obviously mentally ill. The drugs just made it seem like normal LSD tripping out behaviour. I think by this point he probably didn't want to be a pop star at all.

We all think its sad that he gave it all up, but maybe it was what he wanted.

I think he was probably a very tortured soul.

Syd WAS a cool cat. The other 3 guys are art students trying to be cool.

  • @waulrus68 well those art students went on to produce some of the finest music in history..why does everyone seem to think that you have to bag one over the other..all of the band members of Pink floyd were/are talented.

  • Comment removed

  • @waulrus68 This! This, so much!

Man I'm totally with you! I never liked Pink Floyd after they kicked Syd out, it went way too "artsy" and boring for me. Not my cup of tea.

  • @waulrus68 If you read people who knew him after Floyd,so you would be know what mean being eccentric,he never was confirmed with any mentally illness, all what he got was he had eccentrick head, and never wanted be famous, read interview with his sister, being weird in his own way doesnt mean being mentally ill,I am the same,he wasnt mentally ill,but even normal, that told him doc, when he was at psychiatric clinic

  • @bibi5027 it gets to the point where, having so many symptoms of schizophrenia and various personality disorders, yeah, he might not have been crazy. but he definitely could have been. i'm having issues like this personally (maybe not as serious). of course, if you think you're crazy, you can't be crazy, right? (:P) just a thought.

anyway, were you saying a doctor said he was alright? i didn't get that part.

  • @waulrus68 cmon why diss the other 3? sure roger is kinda pretentious but nick mason, richard, and gilmour are all music gods and all seem like cool chill people

  • @waulrus68 ...trying to be cool, all due respect to Syd but I think the Floyd proved that they were more then some part time art students tiring to be Musicians... Maybe not the most talented, but that all changed with Secret's when Gilmore came in to play.

  • I always wondered how the band members felt while recording this or playing it like in this video

  • Shine on! 7/7

  • Shine on, Syd!

  • wow... today it's already 5 years since Syd died :-( Time flies... Rest in Peace, wonderful Piper.

  • R.I.P Syd! 7 July...

  • syd, you have such hollow eyes

  • LSD

  • @Leiron94 how do you feel??!!

  • when the chorus started i allmost cried

  • Syd lives in many hearts

  • @cambridgesyd Your opinion should be the most rated coment here

  • sonically and in time this stands out.

  • i love this type of pink floyd music sounds so much different than like comfortably numb

  • @amigonick121 Agree with you, psychedelic Pink Floyd was the shit!

  • heil to the greatest of them all.

  • Frank Zappa picked up where Sid left off. So much of this 'sound' is a finger in the eye of fashion and fad, he's having a go at the mod, clever, beautiful crowd while making interesting musical sounds.

  • impossible to comment this video....it's just to damn epic.....

  • Never seen this before. Both funny and sad at the same time. Strange and in it's own way very beautiful tjis video.

  • Never seen this before. Both funny and sad at the same time. Strange an in it's own way very beautiful tjis video.

  • Rather sad, what happened to Syd.

  • this looks like the music of the angels, thats hard to listen, but thats the real root of pink floyd,i love the beggining and the end of the group.but something very sad happened to syd anyway he has his superior place on all this.

  • 35 dislikes is a joke if u did that than u hate music

  • Amazing - shine on you crazy diamond :'-(

  • poor syd

  • Comment removed

  • Syd was a genius..........the others Floyds are bit players

  • @MegaSpalman

thats bullshit pink floyd are a unit, the whole is greater than the parts

  • "i don't care if 35 people dislike this video"

  • God, I hate Roger Waters. He's the villain in this, right?

  • @siouxie921 come on man!, I mean Roger comited an error in the pink floyd carrer (I dont see like that, in fact the roger era is the best for many people)

. But you cant blame him, just look at his young face in this video, does it not make you smile and realize what an amazing friendship they got? and what a humble group they were, specially rick.

Finally they forgote all the problems and Sid died happy after he listened after decades "See emily play".

  • @siouxie921 Nah man. Syd is the only person Roger Waters ever seemed to look up to or admire.

  • @zogrush i fell the same way......... so sad, I miss his mind a lot

  • I can imagine what he said after recording this:

    "Can I leave now?"

  • I love Syd! He was very underrated as a musician and songwriter. I really liked his "The Madcap Laughs" album. I found the music on this album absolutely brilliant.

  • syds official signing off from reality and sanity. Love you Mr Barrett

  • cuantos lcd se tomo cada uno antes de filmar el video. Syd Eternamente Gracias por tanto talento

  • I'll never understand just who views these videos only to dislike

  • @MenCap7 Idiots thats who.

    Classic song

  • syd barrett, l'ottava meraviglia del mondo.

  • I think I'm going to get a lot of shit for this, but I wish they'd keep this style. I don't really like how they ended up being so slow and boring. I'm not saying The Wall, Moon etc are bad albums, but I really like the sound of their two first albums.

  • @hurzum I will defend this statement. See Emily Play is my favorite Pink Floyd song ever, along with Bike and all of the Piper's album, the rest is good, but it's not what Pink Floyd was good at and I stand by these words.

  • @SoilentGr33n I absolutely agree!

  • @hurzum No you're not gonna get any shit, lots of people love Syd Barrett.

Take at listen at his solo albums, especially The Madcap Laughs.

  • @hurzum music is only and expression of self. slow and boring to you, sure, but a mastered piece of art and expression to the man writing the song. syd was a genius and i feel every lyric of every song he wrote, happy or sad. syd didn't write music in your convenience. anyway, a quote "Why does everyone like Octopus?"

  • @zewbag i have no idea what you're talking about i just said i like how they sounded with syd and don't really care about what the other guys did to pink floyd

  • @hurzum It's all just different I suppose. All brilliant, nonetheless.

  • Syd Barrett saying Good Bye from the Floyd. This is now history.

  • I wonder if Syd Barrett was gay?

  • @villiparis There are at least 3 documented Syd's girls... Iggy The Skimo is the most famous, So, I don't think so...

  • Dude you are so right

  • The saddest of songs.

You kick me out of my own band.

    Jolly good, old chap.

  • syd is the pink floyd spirit

    r.i.p

  • @cmimi1976

As much as I think Syd is one of the greatest of all, he clearly didn't have much "spirit" when he wrote and recorded this title!

  • @TheNiceroad that's because he was pissed off

  • @SydzDarling4Eternity What was he pissed at? Doing too much drugs and completely loosing its mind? ;)

  • @TheNiceroad He was pissed off because the rest of the band kicked him out.....they all think he's crazy....&& Syd is telling them in this song that he's NOT crazy.

  • @SydzDarling4Eternity Obviously, since he plays along with the rest of the band in the video, he hadn't been kicked out yet... But for sure he was starting to feel a little excluded as the other band members were less and less agreeing with his creative ideas. When they were talking to him, he was barely ever answering. When he was talking, it was about ideas that were simply too out of the ordinary. It sounded like pure nonsense to them. I still think he was the only real genius in that band!

  • @TheNiceroad Okay

  • that outro is so haunting...turn and fade to black.

  • Strange and beautiful.

    No one but Syd Barrett.

  • Happy birthday, Roger Keith Barrett..."and what exactly is a dream?"

  • Food for thought: Would there have been a Dark Side of the Moon if what happened hadnt happened, or a Wish you were here?, or The Wall? They all were based on him! What would those records have been if he were still functioning? Would those records have been at all?

  • @Zzyyxxyyxx i thought the wall was based of his fathers death

  • @fl00dsm0k3 It is, but there are many references to Syd throughout.

  • syd was beautiful. burned too bright to last long.

  • @knickd1979 That's a lovely way to describe it. Nonetheless, sad.

  • @dainahkatt ur gay

  • lol at rogers 0:46

  • Oh what could have been

  • @dainahkatt Testicles don't need air. Quit your bitchin'.

  • @gayahkatt Jesus Christ on a Stick!!!!!! XD

  • I know he was a recluse.Yes,he wanted nothing to do with women, but that's because most women used him for money or to just screw him over, break his fragile heart, n' then leave him for the next guy on the street. They NEVER showed him what love is.Now,in my case,I would've.I've loved him for 6 years.(BTW Not ONCE have I dated another guy, I've only loved ♥Syd♥.)I am NOT some chick who would come along n' play with his head n' then break him,I would love him.No Groupie, would do THAT for him.

  • Syd Barrett......was pushed.

  • @waveblast2 ...from the cliff... yep, he was (( ... and betrayed... and backstabbed.... and used... and labeled ...

  • I wish I could've taken care of ♥Syd♥ when he was going through all of this Bull Shit, poor ♥Angel~Baby♥ :'( I would've made sure that he felt happy, safe n' loved. I would've given him ANYTHING & EVERYTHING in THE WHOLE WORLD♥♥♥♥

  • @SydzDarling4Eternity He wouldn't have wanted it.

  • @quasiphatpaul How do YOU know what he would want??

  • @SydzDarling4Eternity He was a notorious recluse... He never got married and his roomates from '72 have been quoted in various biographys about how he went out of his way to avoid women. Groupies made him uncomfortable. And by the way that's what you are. You're in "love" with a man you've never met. You've have no idea what he was like to be around but you claim you love him. So I'm 100 percent positive that whatever you're selling he wouldn't be buying.

  • @quasiphatpaul

I actually must disagree - from what I've read pre-breakdown Syd was quite the ladies man - he was a natural extrovert, physically beautiful, charismatic and talented and he knew it. He had many girlfriends - girls were very fond of him and he enjoyed their company. Post-breakdown Syd is another story. By 1972 he'd already had his breakdown - he was no longer the extrovert he once was and was becoming quite a private person and reclusive.

Young Syd quite a catch, but yes, (cont

  • @quasiphatpaul

It is most important to remember the man for his artistic vision and great talent which even surpassed his physical beauty :)

  • @Agreed which is why I was kind of yelling at a stupid girlish fan who acts like he's a teeny bop icon.

  • @candysays69 THAT'S why I'm so inlove with him

  • @SydzDarling4Eternity

    I believe you :)

  • @candysays69 atleast ur some one who understands my unconditional love 4 him :D♥

  • I wish I cuold've taken care of ♥Syd♥ when he was going through all of this, poor ♥Angel~Baby♥ :'( I will ALWAYS ♥LOVE♥ you my sweet & innocent ♥Syd~Angel♥

  • PLAY THIS AT MY FUNERAL PLEASE?!

  • Most of the comments on here are totally retarded.

  • Holy crap!!! If you listen to his words and then compare them to The Beatles I think he is taking a shot at them and the music industry!!!! Could Syd have been fully functional!!!!!!!!??? And only created the illusion of insanity to get away from the spotlight? Is there a chance that we have him figured out in the most wrong possible way?

  • @nofrils I like the way you think!!! For I am just getting the same realization with the lyrics and all!!! Cheers!!

  • @nofrils yes there is a chance. read the very good book by rob chapman: a very irregular head
