I agree with you on Afganistan. We should be there. We are in Iraq under false pretenses though unfortunately and while I hate to say we should leave with it in chaos I think we need to sure it up as best we can as fast as we can.
Iraq has turned into a resource draining pit of sorts. Our economy suffers because of it. Mostly inflation and national debt down the line. Just a thought.
If we stay in Iraq we will only perpetuate the hate. What will happen, will happen even if we stay for an additional 500 years. Human instincts are not easily broken.
Furthermore, your vigor is entertaining, but your facts are false. You don't know much about the Constitution or the differences between the two parties. Do some research, kid, and come back and tell me which party is really pissing all over the constitution.
Hey dude, you are so right. The thing that bothers me about the upcoming election is the ignorance of the American People. So many don't due their own research and instead just trust our liberal media. The result of this election could very well destroy this Great Nation and I don't think the People really care. Tell me what you think.

Bill O' Riely, the dumb liberal, Sean Hanity, Brit Hume, they're all liberals. NO WAIT, they are all republicans. it's the conservative bias that's clogging up the news. I remember now.

There are positives and negatives on both sides of the political spectrum, and let us be reminded that president Bush said the constitution was "Just a goddamned piece of paper". He has no respect for it and a war in Iraq will not protect this country from a terrorist attack.
And, yes, liberals do forget about 9/11 - ever since we went to war with Afghanistan (remember Afghanistan? Liberals have us focused on Iraq and many have forgot where Bin Laden actually was.) They have in truth wanted to do NOTHING about terrorism and, when our international "partners" and "allies" turned a blind, indifferent eye to 9/11 after throwing us some symbolic tokens it was liberals who said WE had a burden to be diplomatic and "patient" after the world gave us the cold shoulder.
Another vid very well stated, Josh. No matter how much the hater liberals can use smear and diversion tactics like I have seen commented towards you here, they cannot cover up the truth. Wow its amazing how the "tolerant" liberals spew such hate out you. Nice to see a thinking young person. Keep thinking and keep posting. Ignore the hate.
Roger, just about all people want to live in peace. It is only the fundamentalist, Islamic, Christians, Nazis, even hippies , etc that want to push their ideas on every one else as to their way of life being right. I once read a Nat Geo Mag and it gave the story of a Russian family and an American family who had both lived on their respective family farms for over 200 years. When questioned neither had animosity for the other although this was in about 1978 when the 'Cold War was rif.
All you have managed to do is list definitions for liberal as it relates to politics, not the individual. The definitions I listed are based upon liberal as an individual, not what I "like best". So, if Jesus wasn't a liberal as it is defined for the individual, and he definately was not a libertarian, then what was he, a "maverick"? Or maybe just a psychotic attention seeker with a distinct death wish?
Yeah, it's like the mob or gangs. Taking out a leader or two isn't enough, as there are plenty of people who are just waiting to take their turn as leader... I have to wonder if it's better just to let Osama rot in some isolated cave than to kill or capture him, which might only stir up Islamic sympathies for him... but emotionally I'd like to see him caught and executed!
Josh, are you sure you want to talk about the Constitution when you support a president who has acted out of his Constitutional authority, going to war without a declaration?
What they did was pawn their responsibility onto the president. That is not a declaration of war. A declaration of war defines what objectives must be met to consider the war won, not give a president carte blanche. Unfortunately, congress has been passing the buck like this for years, so my criticism is not just for Bush.
My brother says that most of the Iraqi people want to live in peace-Sunni/Shiite. That the one big problem still beyond foreign terrorist pouring in & being supplied by Iran is the incompetent/corrupt politicians there who slow down progress. Of course we're used to seeing incompetent/corrupt politicians here too! If they could get some good leaders they could make some great strides!
Josh, I'm interested in what you think of Obama, who stresses the need to capture Al Qaeda terrorists like bin Laden, and who seems to take a rational approach to foreign policy that has won over a few conservatives along the way.
And by the way, I respect your viewpoints even though I disagree with many of them.
I disagree with a lot of what Obama stands for- I'm definitely a conservative and he's definitely a liberal- but I'd be much happier with him than Hillary and in many ways he and McCain aren't that much different! The only thing is his extremely short time in public service leaves us with very little to really judge him on!
After the last Hillary/Obama debate I saw a focus group of Dems who had watched and the vast majority thought Obama did a better job. When asked to name one accomplishment of Obama not one of a couple dozen people could name one, but they all said he seemed likable and presidential...
Somehow he's going to have to convince people that he really has the ability to accomplish things and not just be a likable figure.
I appreciate some of his work in Congress (on fair elections, climate change, caring for returning veterans) over the past four years and that he talks about in his book The Audacity of Hope. Rog, I want to thank you as always for being so polite to me even though we have differing ideas. It encourages me to really consider your ideas, and I think there's a lot of intelligence to what you say in addition to politeness.
Same here Rob! It's actually quite fun to discuss this stuff where no one is out for blood! Also, I turned 18 right before Reagan got in & I remember growing up with the end of Vietnam/Nixon/Carter when our whole country was like Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh! It was a very depressing time & Reagan came in & really made me feel proud to be an American. I haven't been so excited with other Repub candidates & this time there wasn't one that I actually supported...
There's a lot I disagree with McCain on, but I do like that he and Obama seem willing to work with the other side and put an end to the constant fighting! As things fall apart in our nation both parties are so busy trying to just oppose the other side that nothing gets accomplished no matter who's in power! It would be nice to see someone get in if they really could bring both sides together. But we all have our sacred cows that mean a lot to us that we have a hard time compromising on!
He no doubt is just saying this just to get elected - I do not believe for a second that he intends to do that. And even if (heaven forbid Barack Osama does get elected) he would put on a little dog and pony show in Afghanistan for th e media, the liberal pro-defense, pro-criminal judges he would appoint to the bench would throw all the cases out, just like all the Clinton appointees have done with every single terrorist case they got.
(assuming you are referring to Iraq) why do you call it "diversionary"? There was another threat there too.
Besides, since NATO wasn't and still aren't that enthused about fighting in Afghanistan what difference does it make? Had we never gone to Iraq Al-Qaida and Al-Zaquari would have just set up shop in Afghanistan, the same stuff would have happened, and Bush would have got the blame for going there.
Sure there was a shadowy threat in Iraq, but I don't think our level of commitment there should ever have progressed to what we have now. Even someone as far right as Bill O'Reilly has looked back at the invasion of Iraq and called it an "optional war" and I think it was an act of adventurism that wasted American lives and tax dollars recklessly. Thus, it diverted resources and attention from the manhunt for bin Laden, and "diversionary" is the word I chose.
It didn't really divert anything from bin Laden - that was a decision made by NATO and its member countries to let the hunt for terrorists go stale. But how optional would it have been once Saddam actually had the bombs?
The left often do have a clear double standard. Here in Oregon when it was found that during his time as Mayor of Portland, our former governor Goldschmidt had been having sex with his children's 14 year old babysitter the leftist politicians & media here defended him. Our main newspaper, the Oregonian called it an "Affair"! Bob Packwood made some sexual remarks to a grown woman & he was run out of office here...
ok try to pull all this together , we all are raised to have beliefs in certain ways and usally along with that comes politics which influence us today to believe one side or the other. Best advice I have gotten is to look at both sides in objectivity , thus focusing on both parties positive and negative without bias , as people with bias look at things black and white , but when objective see both of them gray , and why do people in general speak about politics it brings out negativity?
The legal war in Afganistan and the Illegal war in Iraq will not beover anytime soon. I did tour in Iraq, It wasn't fun. I hope in 2 yrs when you join the Military (because you say we should be there) you have a fun time.
It's funny, but my brother is a Marine in the last month of a year in Iraq, first in Fallujah then Ramadi. When he came home on leave after Thanksgiving he pointed out how the liberal media & politicians paint a totally different picture of what he sees in Iraq. He's proud of all the help being given to the Iraqi people & has made many friends among the Iraqis & sees a lot of good there.
name like that i can see why it was hard. People don't serve for easy they serve for duty honor and loving the country they are serving. btw, read the congressional record before you call something illegal. It was stupid and wrong to do maybe but it sure wasn't illegal
Dude, think before you say something! Actually, THINK twice before you say something. This country was built by Democrats! Obama wants to leave Iraq and focus on Afghanistan! We as AMERICANS, not democrats or either republicans forgot what happen on 9/11. As you can see over 16 million Americans so far voted for Democratic Party and only 5 million voted for Republicans. As you can see again, CHANGE is a democracy. The world will always change. Republican can't stop change! Just face it!
Also, remember the Jeffersonian Democrats are quite different from that of the Jefferson Clinton persuasion. Jefferson was for low (actually, NO) taxes and I doubt Thomas Jefferson would have approved of disposing with people's freedom to force some sense of climate change.
bring out good points. ive got a question though. why are their political parties in the first place? there seems to be no point, all it does is divide the country, even more than it is because of other things.
and why are just two parties promoted at us with all the lesser parties getting no attention , it comes down to the bottom line of money in my opinion and I am sure someone else might have a different perspective , bring back the Whigs!
lol whigs... but your absolutely right. it's basically democrats, republicans and "other". i may sound completely insane, but in my opinion, there is no need for political parties.
early parties included the "democratic republicans" ironically enough , along with the Federalist and Anti-Federalist , the last party to get any electoral votes in an election was 1968 with the American Independent Party so just shows how much Republican and Democratic Party dominate , so they try to get us to choose 1 or the other , I would love all the parties to get equal time but that is like me hoping to hit the lottery
There's nothing stopping the American people from overwhelmingly supporting other parties- but those other parties would have to appeal to more than a small fraction of the people to gain support.
In general what happens is most people vote for one of the parties that they believe will work for many or most of the things they believe in than to vote for one that they totally believe in but won't get in power and so not be able to do anything...
When a member of a third party does get into Congress & it does happen occasionally, a single person or a few can't get things done on their own-they need the support of the majority. So, unless your political party has at least a sizable minority they aren't likely to get much done. Political paries are an extension of human nature, to form teams, cliques, groups of friends, nations, etc.
Your concise history of the nature of parties hits on all of the reasons for which I became radical. There is (perhaps always will be) that big group of voters that may side with the views of a third party (or a leftist like Kucinich or a rightist like Tancredo) but that refuses to vote for such candidates sheerly based on reasons of electability. Those candidates are infrequently elected not only because few voters agree, but because many voters agree but fear that few others do.
Exactly Rob! That's where a problem with the occasionally very wrong polls can skew elections/primaries because once it instills the idea that a candidate is on the losing side it can prevent their supporters from bothering to come out- "Aww, my guy's lost anyway"-or on the other side it can make the opponent's supporters over confident-"why bother voting since my guy is clearly going to win"
I love wikipedia! As a kid I remember buying my first set of encyclopedias, which I could aford because it was a couple years out of date! Now we have a free resource that can be updated as events occur and easily look up most anything in a moment!

theloniusmunk 4 years ago
Ahh, the most typical incorrect comment. Jesus was a libertarian
aaspeed01 4 years ago
ahh, maybe in loose government terms, but in actual definition a liberal to the core!
1:free from prejudice or bigotry; tolerant
2:open-minded or tolerant, esp. free of or not bound by traditional or conventional ideas
3:characterized by generosity and willingness to give in large amounts
4:given freely or abundantly; generous
Many of the traits of Jesus, and everything Josh isn't which is funny since he is a self-proclaimed Christian! NOT!
theloniusmunk 4 years ago
You should use the most used definitions not the ones you like best
1. favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs.
2. (often initial capital letter) noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform.
3. of, pertaining to, based on, or advocating liberalism.

When he came home on leave after Thanksgiving he pointed out how the liberal media & politicians paint a totally different picture of what he sees in Iraq. He's proud of all the help being given to the Iraqi people & has made many friends among the Iraqis & sees a lot of good there.

I agree.

name like that i can see why it was hard.

I think you got Iraq and Afghanistan confused a little.....

bring out good points. ive got a question though. why are their political parties in the first place? there seems to be no point, all it does is divide the country, even more than it is because of other things.

and why are just two parties promoted at us with all the lesser parties getting no attention , it comes down to the bottom line of money in my opinion and I am sure someone else might have a different perspective , bring back the Whigs!
PatsWillWinSBXLIII 4 years ago
lol whigs... but your absolutely right. it's basically democrats, republicans and "other". i may sound completely insane, but in my opinion, there is no need for political parties.
ECWNET 4 years ago
early parties included the "democratic republicans" ironically enough , along with the Federalist and Anti-Federalist , the last party to get any electoral votes in an election was 1968 with the American Independent Party so just shows how much Republican and Democratic Party dominate , so they try to get us to choose 1 or the other , I would love all the parties to get equal time but that is like me hoping to hit the lottery

Hey Rog,
Your concise history of the nature of parties hits on all of the reasons for which I became radical.

That's where a problem with the occasionally very wrong polls can skew elections/primaries because once it instills the idea that a candidate is on the losing side it can prevent their supporters from bothering to come out- "Aww, my guy's lost anyway"-or on the other side it can make the opponent's supporters over confident-"why bother voting since my guy is clearly going to win"

wikipedia has a good page , if do a search for two-party system , good reading and I have learned something today

I love wikipedia! As a kid I remember buying my first set of encyclopedias, which I could aford because it was a couple years out of date! Now we have a free resource that can be updated as events occur and easily look up most anything in a moment!

A whining video complaining about whiners!
You say it's pathetic when Liberals call Republicans whiners. Yet you do the exact same thing in this video! Hypocrisy, moi?
There's genocide and chaos in Iraq now.
Bush said he doesn't spend much time thinking about Bin Laden. He's had over 6 years to catch him, and has failed.
Bush forgot the constitution when he authorized warrantless wiretaps, to name just one from a whole pile of examples.
There are 27 amendments to the constitution not 10.

you speak very maturely, in 2 years, when you're 18, will you join the military and go to Iraq? just wondering....
