Still blaming Bush? Man, that gets old. As far as getting the economy moving, there are four things the Congress could do that would solve about 90% of the problems. But no one in Congress has any real world experience (like Obama), so they don't have a clue.
No. 1 - Allow all depreciable real property to be written off over 15 years. Currently, it's either 27.5 or 39 years. This is outrageous. You'll be dead before you recover your cost.
No. 2 - I just prepared an income tax return for a SMALL corporation. They made just over $800,000 profit. Their tax? Almost $275,000. Ridiculous. Lower the top corporate tax rate to 25%.
No. 3 - Cut the capital gains tax rate from 15% to 7.5% for two years only. After economy recovers, go back to 15%.
No. 4 - Do not allow people to pay only 15% income tax rate on dividends. This will raise taxes on some people, but so what? It's inherently unfair for someone to pay a lower tax rate on dividend income than the working man pays on his wages.
I have other ideas, like these, that would be easy to implement. I don't even have a problem with bumping up the top income tax bracket from 35% to 39%, the same rate as under Clinton. Times were fairly good under Clinton.

i haven't looked into the stimulus pack and i have no pretense that it's perfect but but giving a handout to those whe were not responsible for this crisis and will be the first to suffer the blow seems like a viable enough plan to me.
This stimulus plan has way too much fat in it. I started to read it and just gave up on it. Another $1 TRILLION dollars? This is what it will cost, AT LEAST, with interest. Even the Congressional Budget Office, which Democrats and Republicans both cite as a fair source, states that over the long-term, this stimulus bill actually HURTS the economy. I really think America is about to collapse. And it's not any politician's fault, it's the American people's fault.
Look around you. Most Americans are lazy and fat. They care more about their next meal or whether or not they're going to get laid on the weekend than their country. Liberals think that providing for the poor's every need is helping them, but I don't see it that way and neither did MLK Jr.

Schwarzenegger) and they got a hold of the unedited video footage and once put back in context, it shows the EXACT OPPOSITE of what FOX "News" and other right-wing media outlets pushed. You're right, it is their job to report on facts, which is why FOX, isn't a news outlet.

These so called "community organizers" are the people most responsible for the housing crisis and all the other problems that came with it. One of their specialties is intimidating banks into giving mortgages to people in minority communities who simply can't afford to pay them. Now these properties are being foreclosed and the people are getting dumped out into the street but of course nobody has the balls to speak up and put the blame where it really lies.

A: Handouts are delivered by our governments at every turn; citizens paying federal taxes (<60%) should not have to shoulder an increased burden to provide more. Health ins. reform should focus on loweringsts, not providing insurance. Bailing out a huge corporation, raising a generation to exist on taxpayer programs don't make sense when opportunities abound in a healthy economy.

No. 1 - Allow all depreciable real property to be written off over 15 years. Currently, it's either 27.5 or 39 years. This is outrageous. You'll be dead before you recover your cost.
No. 2 - I just prepared an income tax return for a SMALL corporation. They made just over $800,000 profit. Their tax? Almost $275,000. Ridiculous. Lower the top corporate tax rate to 25%.
No. 3 - Cut the capital gains tax rate from 15% to 7.5% for two years only. After economy recovers, go back to 15%.

No. 4 - Do not allow people to pay only 15% income tax rate on dividends. This will raise taxes on some people, but so what? It's inherently unfair for someone to pay a lower tax rate on dividend income than the working man pays on his wages.
I have other ideas, like these, that would be easy to implement. I don't even have a problem with bumping up the top income tax bracket from 35% to 39%, the same rate as under Clinton. Times were fairly good under Clinton.

This stimulus plan has way too much fat in it. I started to read it and just gave up on it. Another $1 TRILLION dollars? This is what it will cost, AT LEAST, with interest. Even the Congressional Budget Office, which Democrats and Republicans both cite as a fair source, states that over the long-term, this stimulus bill actually HURTS the economy. I really think America is about to collapse. And it's not any politician's fault, it's the American people's fault.
