I could waltz all night long, to this lovely elegant music! The use of violin and accordian are mezmerising, and Jane Morgan sings this beautifully! It truly is Fascination!
What an absolutely fabulous voice! Beautiful, romantic song - always reminds me of the film 'Love in the afternoon' with Audrey Hepburn, Maurice Chevalier and Gary Cooper. This music was central to the story and always makes me smile to hear it.
what a beautiful tune! my mother, she died of lung cancer, loved the french version by diane dufresne. every time i hear this song, it brings back memories of a wonderful person i loved and admired from the bottom of my heart. r.i.p, dear mother.
It's like this song automatically plays when you fall in love... with a cheesy romantic dialogue and rose petals falling around you and the one you laid your eyes on...
im 19 & this music makes me feel so warm inside, i close my eyes & see myself @ an old age with my wife walking in a park on a beautiful sunny day & the both of us having the biggest smiles on our faces as we walk.. call me wierd i dont care
MUCHAS VECES NO SE NI COMO CATALOGAR LAS DISTINTAS BELLEZAS QUE EL SER HUMANO PUEDE OFRECER.....POR ESO ME QUEDO PASMADO ESCUCHANDO ES VOZ....COMO PARA NADAR ETERNAMENTE.....
As a lonely solder far from home, I would enter a bar, order a drink and play Morgan, captivated by her voice, made the rigors of the war (korean) worth it.
My Dad loved her music. He was a WW2 Vet in the 94th division. I didn't like hearing her every Sunday morning, but now that he is gone I can still hear Jane sing, and it brings back memories of my Dad. Thank you Jane , my dad loved you and I guess I do too.
This song is as fascinating as Jane's voice is riveting. Notice you can understand each word as if it meant to be heard. That is talent that has lately been lost in pop singers. Words used to be a big part of the song. Jane rocks on this one. Thanks!
she had nine buttons on her nightgown, but she could only fasten eight.....
love this singer and song....remember dancing at the fire hall with the dj spinning the discs. then they game me a bill haley album and i gave it to someone else because i wasn't a fan. now i wish i had it back: bill haley rocks
One of the most memorable times i heard this song was on 'Days of our Lives' when one character played this song for his lady love from a music box..and this music played in the background..irresistable..
Yes, this is definitely the hit version...there were others at the time like Dinah Shore's...(yawn)...Jane did a show for UNICEF on DEC. 10 and of course this was in her act. She looked like a million...go to Google and type in JANE MORGAN-UNICEF
@davpier59 I went on the site you mentioned and it's true that she is georgous. Would you believe she was going to be 89 when it was taped! I just hope I'll be half alive as she is on that video. Thanks for the info.
Whether it was a dramatic scene or one that ended with a pie in the face, whenever there was a television sketch with a man and woman in a French restaurant, candle-light, attentive waiter, this song was always played in the background.
@defundthewar Funny you should mention that pie in the face thing- I just discovered Jane Morgan today, having mistaken one of her songs for Anita Bruyant's!

Just to clarify. This is originally a French song, just like My Way, and countless other famous songs. Beautifully interpreted.

Does anyone have Jane's "Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue"? I'm wondering if it's the same as Elvis' Something Blue.

Delightful. Prefer it even to Nat King Cole's version.
richierich291266 2 years ago 3
Dear richierrich,
I agree. Nat King Cole took some liberties with the tempo that unfortunately did not enhance the strength of the melodic line.
Nat King Cole's version is not "bad." But it is not as good as Jane Morgan's.
If he had not taken those liberties, it would be as good as Jane Morgan's, in my personal opinion.

I disagree, I listened to the French version, I think Jane Morgan version has both better composition and better voice.
TheRedGrant 2 years ago
Unquestionably the best rendition of this song in English.
This was the version I heard while growing up in the 50s.
But I must say the original French lyrics are still preferable.
Especially French coloratura soprano Mado Robin's version, also posted on YouTube.
