I studied the language for three straight years in college but have picked up more being married to a Japanese spouse and watching TV shows she owns on DVD. Everyone learns differently.
This is great advice. The TV shows are difficult at first but after a while, becasue the characters in shows speak at a normal pace as opposed to a friend or conversation partner who might slow down just a bit, you will start to understand more conversational Japanese. Again, this video is great advice.
Hey you forgot my favorate way of exposure to japanese - youtube! There are TONS of japanese shows and vloggers on youtube and just like you said, after a while you'll start picking out words you know and learn new phrases. Thanks for the vid maybe I'll check out that book, later
