I still remember looking at the off white dial of my Radio Shack Realistic FM stereo receiver while listening to this song in the mid 70's. This is one of those songs that can bring back memories to represent a time period. In the 60's you had Paul Simon, Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney who wrote us all these sweet melodic lullabies. Very few youngsters can grasp the sweetness of a good melody like these guys could. It's the melodies that last forever.

That why they were the greats. I would also argue that if you listen to Andrew Bird, Ray LaMontagne, Norah Jones, or Radiohead with an open mind you'll realize that while those artists don't hold the sentimental value for you, they can craft a tune with the best of them. Nostalgia withstanding, art carries on.
