  • Gadd!

  • Does anyone else think he looks like what would happen if someone put Neil Young in a washing dryer, and shrunk him.

  • CLASSIC... All the things I have to catch up on being an 80s baby

  • Trombone player lookin like a straight Jedi!!!!

  • Ehm... A musician before a drummer!

  • Great Steve Gadd, a musicano bifore a drummer

  • 3:20 bravest man in the world... he's shaking a dynamite!

  • Such smooth languid drumming

  • Anyone know what the symbol on the hat is?

  • @truebluefliplover Dont know exactly which one it is here, but normally Steve uses K-series zildjians. Guess its the same here.

  • Must be an AARP convention

  • Tonal excellence and melodic bliss, combined with a punchy groove.Great turnarounds. I love to savor the sweet melodic theme here. Thanks Paul for a great tune man.

  • bass on this performance kills

  • I LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE

  • I love jamming along to this

  • If you like Steve Gadd in this one, check out Clapton's "Red Hot" (part of the "Sessions for Robert J-DVD).

Just before recording Clapton starts a tune, Billy Preston follows softly on his organ, Chris Stainton on piano and Stve Gadd on drums follow...

This is what music is about, great musicians having fun jamming...

  • How did he get Steve Gadd Himself to tour with him?

  • @kirkzer simple, he's that good!!

  • @kirkzer Gadd played the drums on the original record by Simon

  • love paul simon and this generation of music, but i am a hip hop head and thats just stupid to say everyone who listens to rap is uneducated . For people who havn't listened to NAS or public Enemy or Common just to name a few, listen to these artists and tell me it's undeducated!!!!

  • is that a mario hat?

  • GREAT,GREAT,GREAT!

  • Yeah rap is for stupid uneducated people, which explains why most everybody likes it...cause most of our society is dumb.

  • 49 dislikes dumb ass people.

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! but how the hell did he get George Clooney to play the drums? lol

  • @freddielaker2 That would be Steve Gadd :)

  • this sounds much better when sampled by Eminem on the song "murder murder"

  • @sourdeeznuts Pretty much sums up your generation. Turn off the rap and listen to some music man. Rap isn't music. It's oversampling of music stolen from artists. Rappers are ripoff artists and people like Eminem rapping about purple pills, murder, and I don't understand the rest. "Nigga" this and "Nigga" that. Open your eyes. They're glorifying slums, drug dealing, and gangs, and not making life better for anyone.

  • who's on drums here?

  • @Fieldhouseuktube The incredible Steve Gadd.

  • @Fieldhouseuktube on the record and live! he is a god!

  • It's Steve Gadd that pulls this song together.

  • Wonderful. Just wonderful.

  • Kid Cudi's sampling of this brought me here, but Paul made me stay.

  • what the hell is the percussionist on left being paid for. at 1:17 he's just tapping air?!?

  • None of the dislikers ever had a lover !

  • 49 people didn't find a way

  • This song is the sample for Eminem's "Murder, Murder. "

  • Can't believe it has been over 30 years since I first heard this song in 1970 something! Thanks Paul and Co. Poster included.

  • lololol, i wondered about the nice groove at the beginning and just a few seconds later i realized, ouuuuuh shit, it's the one and only gadd

  • gotta had a lover boyfriend or girlfriend who'd wiped themselves all over you while you made silent waited for them to notice you exist, before you realise 50 ways to leave your lover! I realised I's no slave...

  • magic.....mr.Gadd

  • steeeeveeee gadddd THE KING................

  • Since the writing of this song, I've found another 150 ways to leave your lover.

  • woooooooooooohhhhhhhooooooooooo steve gadd :)

  • BALDY FUCK!! HE SLEPT WITH MY WIFE!!!

  • @9685tikka Wow, what a lucky woman!

  • @LukeRossTheBoss hahahha...lls

  • @9685tikka Really! Give us all the juicy details!

  • Eminem knows good music (; he used this song for the chorus

  • Paul Simon. The man still has it.

  • i personally like 50 way to make a record by Kid Cudi, but this is also cool and i understand this is the original

  • i dint know Mcain was such a good singer!

  • Certes !

    Ciao

  • The hippest piano solo ever.. followed by the hippest trombone melody ever.

  • like it... bitter-sweet

  • @buguibangui I'll give that a thumbs up!

  • Ya know - this just isn't something I talk about- I'm just not too comfortable with it! Me and my mother have never been the best of friends for a multitude of reasons - bitter - me??? - maybe! Who's right and who's wrong is irrelevant entirely in this moment- I want to thank that mad woman for introducing to me and engraining in me the songs of this little genius! And genius he is....

  • kid cudi honored this song good:)

  • 43 people didn't have the guts to leave their lover....

  • 43 People left their lover ^^

  • @Impido0d so, only 7 more to go ;)

  • Is it just me or does he sort of look like Henry Winkler?

  • great song and concert.,

  • Fan-bloody-tastic.

  • This is the greatest song in the world.

  • at 4:08 there is a jedi playing trombone

  • @Gungoeule 1:34 Jedi on rhythm guitar! :)

  • @Gungoeule that's so silly but I lost it laughing

  • God, I love this song. It's so sexy and playfully laid-back, just pure genius.

  • Steve Gadd--when music history is written, he will go down as a genius drummer. Playing a marching band beat on a drum kit! One of the most influential and mind-boggling drum patterns in this life or any other.

  • In my many years of going to gigs from anyone to everybody...Paul's gig at Nottingham was the finest most musically brilliant I have ever been too and I feel extremely privileged...it saddens me that most of musicians of a like kind are all underground these days...but what comes around goes around I guess.

  • i love this one and the videao is beautiful. Thanks !!!

  • Paul Simon's music is just fantastic...I can't understand why anyone wouldn't enjoy his talent and gift's towards the music industry.

  • Love the Steve Gadd drum roll on this one.

  • @govslps: it's a matter of what is urgent x what is important. There are also 50 ways to keep your lover.

  • @wellardbr That is realy a charming comment you gave, one of the nicest replies I red at this video.

  • I have a gf and she's really mad about me changing the wedding plans. We just don't have enough money, but she's going totally buserck about this. Makes me think about this song and about the whole marriage thing.

  • @govslops Two words, elope and LasVegas. If you cannot afford it then call the whole damn thing off. Jim

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • LOVVVVVVVVVEE it. I left my jerk boyfriend but I took my betta fish named Gus lol

  • I still remember looking at the off white dial of my Radio Shack Realistic FM stereo receiver while listening to this song in the mid 70's. This is one of those songs that can bring back memories to represent a time period. In the 60's you had Paul Simon, Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney who wrote us all these sweet melodic lullabies. Very few youngsters can grasp the sweetness of a good melody like these guys could. It's the melodies that last forever.

  • @mrwilliamwonder ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!

  • @mrwilliamwonder i grasp it!

  • @mrwilliamwonder While I agree that Paul Simon, Brian Wilson and Paul, John and George could all craft amazing melodies I would also argue that most of their peers could not. That why they were the greats. I would also argue that if you listen to Andrew Bird, Ray LaMontagne, Norah Jones, or Radiohead with an open mind you'll realize that while those artists don't hold the sentimental value for you, they can craft a tune with the best of them. Nostalgia withstanding, art carries on.

  • @JEdgarGroover Those are strong words.

  • @mrwilliamwonder you had me up to the snobbery

  • @mrwilliamwonder I'd like to think I'm still a youngster (just turned 25). It might please you to know that a few of us "kids" have discovered legends like Simon & Garfunkel and Bobby Dylan. Neither the American film nor the American music world has been the same since the 70's: the last truly great decade for American artistic expression. We've since that time lost our voice.

  • @Spichael3791 Thank you. I hear dat!

  • Woooof---this version blows this'n awaaaaay---------XD

  • 3:21 bravest man alive, he´s shaking a dynamite

  • @Vigstong - It's OK, the fuse is removed.

  • 42 people must have been left by their lover!?

  • 42 people must have thought this said "this I Like" ...

Excellent tune .... melodic in every bar ...

  • One of the greatest drum beats of all-time. A marching-band type pattern laid down on a drum kit. When history is written, Steve Gadd is right at the top. Genius.

  • Wow, Ron James does a pretty good Paul Simon impersonation! ;)

  • CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE KEYBOARD PLAYER? I am surname-deaf, I have no clue how to spell it. CAPSED, cause I'm desperate to hear more of his work

  • this is amazing if you have $ 150 surround sound sytem on your computer

  • @aksinamun123 Check the DVD/CD version (not lossy AAC quality) and listen to it on a "good" HIFI setup :)

I had the chance to "experience" this on a LINN audio system (+70.000USD) - of course in a store - blew me away - to the extent that i seriously considered for a second..... robbing that place :D

But BEWARE - once you've heard a "really good HIFI setup", things will be different....

...my KRK VXT8, which I thought were simply AWESOME...since that day: "decent".

  • @aksinamun123 Try a $15,000 system

  • well said pranxter79. i was thinking the same exact thing.

  • Fucking Amazing!

  • Gadd has the coolest style ever.... musical and inovative! what a fuckin master!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Bump this comment if you got here throught Eminem's "50 Ways"

  • @ReDead0 fuck eminem! he sold out like a bitch, but yeah i did lol

  • @iamphilbo lmao, among the biggest rap stars, he's the one that's least commercial

  • @ReDead0 haha depends on who you think are the biggest rap stars, wayne, jay, drake then yeah he probably is but i class the likes of wu-tang, nas biggie, 2pac, big l as the biggest rap stars whos quality was never based on having the popular rappers out at the time on their tracks like how wayne and them do now, eminem included, he never used to have popular rappers like them on his old albums, but i guess everybody has a price

  • @iamphilbo WTF are you morons talking about? STF up already grampa Like as in Meth lab.

  • @hangemhigh2000 kill yourself you little slut!
