The new Freddy was a rapist, so why kill children and teens with a knife glove? He could've raped them in their dreams, which would be kinda really much more disturbing. David Fincher by a trillion miles. Fincher assfucks Bay. His movies have a plot, amazing acting and cinematography, excellent scripts and beautiful scores. Michael Bay has neither of these, and thats why he's horrendous in every way.

I'll be honest, I loved this movie. It'll never be better than the original, but it was a hell of a lot better than the endless chain of sequels, and it felt beefier than those from the 80's. JEH did a great job as Freddy, and it was entertaining at the very least. Plus, it didn't feel like a porno the way the new Friday the 13th did. Overall, a solid 3.5 out of 5

Jackie Earle Haley is signed on for two more Nightmare films and despite most critics hating it and it not being any where as good as the 1984 Wes Craven classic it did fairly well at the box office, so in other words sequels could be a very real possibility. I didn't out right hate this movie, Jackie Earle Haley was probably the best part of the film and the kills were just ok. While this film in no way replaces the 84 classic, I think it can hold it's own ground with the 5 sequels.

@FilmMasterAdam Yep. The setup for the pun is a little bit different. In Nightmare 4 a teen was sleeping on his water bed when he pulls the covers down to see a naked chick swimming winking at him. She then turns into Freddy who jumps out of the bed and garbs him and says " hows this for a wet dream" and then drowns him. Worked alot better then.
Ya know what I realised. The ending to this was stolen from Phantasm! It's the same setup, the hero finally thinks it's over then sees the killer in the mirrora nd is grabbed through it. The only difference here is that Nancys mom was pulled through the mirror rather than Nancy. If Nancy was pulled through it it would be more obvious! I mean come on it's bad enough that they stole a joke from Nightmare 4 but to rip off the ending of a great horror film such as Phantasm is just a crime.
if a sequel is made then either nancy or quiten will be the killer and freddy will be the hero in it.

i was born after most of the nightmare on elm streets came out so this was a good movie in my opinion my only propblem was everybody died at the beginning so i couldnt wait to see when anybody else died but overall its a good film for the people who didnt see the original cuz now the original is laughable

David Fincher by a trillion miles. Fincher assfucks Bay. His movies have a plot, amazing acting and cinematography, excellent scripts and beautiful scores. Michael Bay has neither of these, and thats why he's horrendous in every way.

I agree 100%. JEH did a great job in this film with what little he had to work with, but the movie itself sucked. I say, Keep him as Freddy Krueger for future movies, but get some new F-ing writers! They could've done ALOT more with this movie Ex: I liked how Nancy set traps in the first movie, and I would've loved to see newer, more creative ones. XD I seriously died of laughter when you said Quintin looked like he was gonna cry in every scene!

its not that its a BAD movie.
its just that its a bit DIFFRENT from the origional.
and ppl can seem to handle that.
it wasnt supposed to be the same anyway,because its not a REMAKE.
its a RE-IMAGINING. its not supposed to be the exact same.
it was a great movie in my opinion.

since its a re-imagining,its supposed to be as if the origional never existed.

a remake is simply something being remade. A re-imagining is taking the concept of something and delivering it back as something else.
hence the new plot-line,tone,and concept of the movie.ect.

@zombie4me An example of a re-imagining is Friday the 13th. A remake is this, it has the same plot but smaller details were changed. Halloween was a remake but with added details. This is a remake, not a re-imaging and it's a bad remake ( but not as bad as TCM)

@starkiller20293 No, they are not. A Remake is when you remake the original movie with more or less the same story. A Re-Imagining is a completely different interpretation and vision of the original. And FYI, a Reboot is a revitalization of a dead or near-dead franchise.

I'll be honest, I loved this movie. It'll never be better than the original, but it was a hell of a lot better than the endless chain of sequels, and it felt beefier than those from the 80's. JEH did a great job as Freddy, and it was entertaining at the very least. Plus, it didn't feel like a porno the way the new Friday the 13th did. Overall, a solid 3.5 out of 5

how bout the school scene had the wrong character in it? in the original it was nancy who falls asleep in class, wwalks out and bumps into some fat chic is freddys sweater, gets asked for a hallpass n nancy says something along the lines of "fuck your hallpass" the fatty turns into freddy.

haha we agree with you the re-make was shit i mean they could of worked harder on it and made it more interesting and scary then it actually was i remember we both were laughing out asses off through this whole movie it wasn't even scary the only part that made us jump out of our seats was the ending when Nancy's mom was pulled through the mirror but Freddy and we loved how Katie Cassidy was thrown around the room but they could of did it like Tina's death where she was dragged up the ceiling

Wow the One Pun that You got a Laugh at was Stolen Straight Out of Elm Street Part 4, I enjoyed some parts of the Film but I Fucking Hated that Line why have Haley use One of Robert Englund Lines for no reason just Lazy Writing, they also Used a couple Line from Freddy Vs. Jason in this Film too

did anyone like the original the birds? i watched it and thought it was kinda stupid like an avian version of sparticus. it might have worked as an episode of the twilight zone but not a full movie. also im not defending michael bay i hate him and if or when i do snap from shitty movies, he will be at the top of my hit list, but if you ignore the stupid plot some of the nightmare scenes are pretty and i thought haley was always going to do a good job

said how did they forget well when something that horrible has happened you tend to forget about it along with help from your family and therapy but once your reminded and find out more information the more you start to remember which is what happened but also you said about kris(katie) being killed and thats it shes forgotton i recall her being mentioned and also her apearing in the school in a body bag so your wrong a bit there i do however agree with what you said that

Jackie Earle Haley is signed on for two more Nightmare films and despite most critics hating it and it not being any where as good as the 1984 Wes Craven classic it did fairly well at the box office, so in other words sequels could be a very real possibility. I didn't out right hate this movie, Jackie Earle Haley was probably the best part of the film and the kills were just ok. While this film in no way replaces the 84 classic, I think it can hold it's own ground with the 5 sequels.

I have to disagree Rooney Mara was wonderful in the final act....when she is screaming and pleading with freddy, that was emotional stuff.
Kyle Gallner was INCREDIBLE, the scene where he confronts his father (which you showed a clip of) was so well acted how can you not see that?

I would also like to add that there is a Childs Play remake in the works and Brad Douriff has been recasted for the role of Chucky. The producer and writer from the original will be working on it. So maybe theres a chance for ONE good 80s horror remake.

@FilmMasterAdam Yep. The setup for the pun is a little bit different. In Nightmare 4 a teen was sleeping on his water bed when he pulls the covers down to see a naked chick swimming winking at him. She then turns into Freddy who jumps out of the bed and garbs him and says " hows this for a wet dream" and then drowns him. Worked alot better then.

Ya know what I realised. The ending to this was stolen from Phantasm! It's the same setup, the hero finally thinks it's over then sees the killer in the mirrora nd is grabbed through it. The only difference here is that Nancys mom was pulled through the mirror rather than Nancy. If Nancy was pulled through it it would be more obvious! I mean come on it's bad enough that they stole a joke from Nightmare 4 but to rip off the ending of a great horror film such as Phantasm is just a crime.
