  • @Tomsouthrock .... It's at a nightclub called Old Ironsides in downtown Sacramento, California. Great show!

  • @camachinist Thanks dude

  • sempoiiiiiii!

  • lol the tongue roller guy @ the end. ;D

  • Just watch this GOD (Shigeo) at 2.07, he does play/dances. God bless you, my idol.

  • Hey you Guys are F Good

  • I first heard the Surf Coasters on the anime The Daiichis: Earth Defense Family. They play the background music for the action scenes. I like how they add in riffs from other stuff Dick Dale has done before they get back to Miserlou. Shigeo Naka shreds!

  • Dedicated to the people of japan...Greeks are with you!!!!

  • I would expect no less from the man Dick Dale named as the Prince of Surf Rock

  • The playing is awesome. Best cover I've ever heard.

  • excellent version 'cause I lived through the originals- this is one of the best unbelievable ending

  • excellent version 'cause I lived through the originals- this is one of the best

  • Miserlou - Karate style...

  • fucking brilliant

  • the guy on bass is awsome!!

  • Straight tearing it up!

  • You guys really rock. I have worn out listening to your versions of really great tunes. Especially Misirlou. Here is a guy from Canada who thinks you guys from Japan REALLY ROCK. Best of luck in your musical pursuits.

  • i just love the "hal of the mountain king "drum solo!nice job on the whole song.dick dale made this into rock since his father and uncle both played the slower greek original style.this is from at least 1927.

  • Man how do i start...Shigeo Naka the guitarist., Nobuhiro Kurita on the bass and Naotaka Seki on the drums, they would fill a room, a heart and a mind, they filled

mine for sure. Please go to "1998 Aug the ventures.nokie edwards dr k. Kayama yuzo naka shigeo " that will blow your mind, "caravan"....

  • @notubenick they just kick ass.what a group and what a take!

  • One of the best bass lines I've ever heard in a cover...

  • Shigeo is a MONSTER! Everything is DEAD ON! A technician for sure.

  • yeeeaaaahhh !!!! that was awesome !!!

  • Maaan, does anyone have any tabs for this version? I've got the standard pulp fiction bit and some other bitsdown but the fidlier bits are friggin difficult to work out!! Can anyone help me?

  • This is better than the boom boom crap they play today

  • I love the bass!

  • Wow man, this kicks serious ass!!!!

  • Beautiful !!!!!

This version is actually the arrangement of the Surfaris studio version from the album "the Surfaris play" back in 1963. My favorite one!

  • mira los chinos secos, buen cover

  • great stuff

  • ils sont la , ils arrivent

  • Excellent: Best cover I have seen on Youtube. Nobody has sounded better or put on a better show than you guys. Keep up the good work. Best wishes to you.

  • These guitars look cool, are they Yamaha, Musicman???

  • Best version of Misirlou. Ever. Shigeo Naka, every surf player should have a shrine to you. Dick Dale is the King, but Shigeo Naka is the Prince - Dick even said so. Unreal.

  • sounds like the movieversion

  • were are these guy's from their awsome !! great post loved it !!!!!!!!

  • Nice

  • Actually not 1963. The song was first performed by the Michalis Patrinos rebetiko band in Athens, Greece in 1927. As with almost all early rebetika songs (a style that originated with the Greek refugees from Turkey), the song's actual composer has never been identified, and its ownership rested with the band leader. The melody was most likely composed collaboratively by the group, as was often the case at the time; the initial lyrics were almost certainly written by Patrinos himself.

  • @webstigma Sweet dude, you know how to copy and pasted from wiki, grats!

  • @FatDaddyWampus And copy/paste from wiki makes what I said any less true? I just added some history for the song because most people think that it's from 1963 and Dick Dale. And by the way I have nothing against any version of this song. It's great to see some guy thousands of miles from your home take a piece of your culture and making it known all over the world.

  • 1963 tune... and still great!!!

  • fucking awesome!!! if you like them you'll love Junior brown"s surf melody

  • lol @ old Ironsides

  • ROCK AND ROLL!!!!! I'm back for another view, and liked it even better the second time!

  • Shit! when I clicked on this I had no idea I was in for such a treat! BRAVO!

    Pulp fiction_Zeejah

on ur youtube youtube searchbar.....u can guess how old it is by its recording.....

  • WHO would have thought an old Greek song about an Egyptian girl would become famous 'round the world! Even though this Dick Dale version has Spanish influences (as well as Rock-of course!) it rocks .Well done guys!!

  • awesome

  • It's my dream to play the guitar like that!!!

  • Impresionante. Son MUY BUENOS.

  • greek song

  • Very cool and refreshing version of an old classic. I like the slight punk edge it has, yet it is total surf rock.

  • Was looking for Dick Dale. This guy is freakin incredible. Nuff said.

  • They've never formally broken up, they just play together whenever it's best for them to do so. They've even had a Myspace set up since March so fans can keep up with them. I personally hope they tour the US sometime in the near future so I can see The Prince of Surf Guitar play live

  • You really think this is originally by dick dale? Get ur facts straight, this song comes from Greece and is a whole lot older song than Dick Dale's version in the 60's. Besides, making new versions of old songs is totally ok,

take it as a tribute rather than exploitaiton.

  • Not to mention the fact that they've actually played with Dick Dale, and that he has dubbed Naka (lead guitar guy) the 'Prince of the Surf Guitar'.

  • @AnnoNihilus what is the name of the original? i want to hear it because im greek

  • yeah.. no shit!! of course they copied it you douche!!! so what?

  • Sweet.

  • Cool, a hardcore modern surf band that keeps the surf sound. 5 Stars.

  • Makam hijaz

  • the surf coasters are fuckin badass.

probably one of my favorite surf guitarists

  • loved your version very much. thanks for sharing!

  • its surf music u dumbasses

  • Nice one!

  • excellent..this song is arabian,is it?

  • it's greek

  • misirlou is a greek folk song. Dick Dale covered it, but this guy here plays the spannish Malaguena as a improvation in a 4/4 messure :D

    very nice xD

  • any bass tabs?? the one on the internet is not the official one :(

  • That's so fucking awesome how he plays Malaguena during the song.

  • By the way the Surf Coasters are still together. They have a myspace page.

  • Nice double picking. Very fluent.

  • this was a traditional greek song which was talking about a girl from turkey...

    but the remix is beter

  • quite good remark but i think Misirlou was an egyptian muslim girl and it's from 1927.

  • Godly rock playing

  • Incredible guitar playing, and thats not mentioning what he does from 2:44

  • They released multiple albums

  • OLD IRONSIDES! sactown!my old home....

  • Dick Dale's old standard taken to several newer, higher levels. Cleanest, hardest-edged virtuoso performance I've ever seen/heard of this number, and I collect old surf music. One beaucool axeman.

  • That was a very good performance. I really enjoyed that.

  • This is really entertaining...great band, great song

i reccomend it to anyone who enjoys quick guitar playing

  • fucking SWEET

  • The guy can sure play. Not an easy song. -- A guitarist.

  • the riff and solo are pretty easy to play

the guitar breaks are another thing though

  • The hell you say. And who is Kmish? Dick Dale.

  • Awesome Group! Wonder if they ever saw what a Surfboard looks like. Long live Dick Dale!

  • I love it! I'll have to go out and get their CD and see what other songs they do. That guy on the guitar can sure play like a bat out of hell!! Too bad they broke up--I would've loved to see them live.

  • does anyone know what kid of bass that is?

  • i think the bass is a yamaha sbv500 model,and the guitar's also a yam sgv300

  • awesome, thanks.

  • too bad the sound quality isnt good

  • black eyes peas should be ashamed of themselves for covering this song in such a shotty manner.

    surf = GAWD

  • Well, if rap makes surf music popular, that's fine by me!

  • it's actually more oriental in origin, but ok

  • Amazing!

  • haha pump it is based from this lol wat a thought rap from surf music

  • heared this OVER and OVER... in pulpfiction and wherever but this is mah first time to SEE the guy play it

    AWESOME

  • the version from the movie was cut by Dick Dale & the Del-Tones in 62
