  • Was Marjorie just in his imagination/recollection? Was she gone or possibly dead and Nick is just remembering the time he told her he no longer felt the love he once had?

  • i've been a fan of yours for awhile...i wonder in i could possibly convince you to read In Another Country...your voice is so evocative, i'd think itd complement the story perfectly...honestly when i read Hemingway, the voice i imagine coming from the page of the endearing and coarse plain language isnt far from yours....

  • Thanks for your reply, Tom. Please, do whatever readings move you personally. You do so well at selecting them. Wonderful.

  • Tom. This is gorgeous. The long pieces, like this, and Bananafish excerpt, must take you a great deal of time, for the recording and words. Independent of the poster below, I searched your channel for Hemingway in the hopes of hearing "Indian Camp", a glorious 1500 word story, again featuring Nick, where his father wishes, after the fact, that he hadn't brought "Nicky" to see "that". How revelatory. I will, eventually, hear all of your readings. Sublime.

  • @coolkayaker1 Thank you for your knd words. The length of the readings don't make preparation time much longer - not much more than the extra time it takes to read.. A couple of hours in all, maybe. Theer's another mention of Indian Camp below. I'll certainly consider it.

  • The Nick Adams stories, although probably not meant as a collection is one of my favorites!

  • Thanks for uploading this! Who is reading it?

  • @woopzargiepoop I read everything in this channel - and I hope you will lisen to a few more.

  • @SpokenVerse Oh wow I will, you have a wonderful voice, do you accept requests because I would very much like to hear Hemingway's Indian Camp?

  • I love the way Hemingway doesn't use an inner monolog to tell you have the characters are feeling but instead lets you judge it by looking at their body language and speech.

  • "The End of Something" ... something??? - not even - the end of what once was beautiful. What an insult to the lady. What a dreary man he must have been. Beautiful poetry ... wonderfully read ... however, Ernest Hemingway would not have been on my list of desirable men.

  • @mmbmbmbmb

well he did suffer from depression,

  • @mmbmbmbmb he felt deeply, terribly... unlovable ... and yes, he was depressed

  • I always enjoy your selections. Thank you so much. Ever sinced I subscribed I havent been able to forget "Believe me if all those endearing young charms" Or " Down by the salley gardens " Even if I tried. Thank you

  • Thank you so much! This is one of my favourite Hemingway's writings... Maybe because I'm about the same age as he was when he wrote them... I'll listen to this one for good-night...
