@mew10521 She is sad because she has realized that she is in love with Chayanne's character and that winning, although it is something she has worked towards, means her having to leave her love. She is torn between reigniting her professional career with her jerk ex or being with the man she loves.

Her partner stops dancing with the other woman because he is used to being the center of attention, so when the crowd shifted its attention to Vanessa and Chayanne, he saw no reason to continue.

Thank you for uploading this wonderful movie. I saw this at the cinema in 1998 and I just fell in love with this beautiful feel good movie. Vanessa and chayanne were fantastic together and I loved their dancing. I love this movie!
