oneida is a "Hybrid" its a cross between both compound and recurve,it has the smooth draw cycle of a recurve bow with the stored energy of a compound bow which it gets from cam's it is both a "compound" and "recurve" in the same bow
@the10wyatt A compound bow is not defined as having to have wheels and pullies! Asian & Hungarian Horse Bows are considered compound bows. It is the manner in which the limbs function when the bow is drawn that makes a bow a compound!
@frankudo True, but if you look at the way in which they function as a bow, the dynamics of how they draw and how the sayas interact with the limbs, it is very similar to the way in which the cams and pullies interact with the limbs on a compound bow. I have drawn and shot both compounds and Asian Horsebows that they both have a characteristic let off at full draw. Horsebows not as prominent as a compound, but it is there.
@ExposeChosunNinja They are indeed very similar concepts. I own a kassai bow and yes, it has a little bit of a letoff and its lightning fast for a "classic" bow. very fascinating arrow launchers ;)
oneida bows "are" compound bow's,they have cam's which gives the arrow its energy, not the limbs,I have 2 of these bows and they are available through Oneida bow's,They've been in production since the early 80's and still are today, you dont see them in pro-shops often at all due to lack of advertising, they are the easiest bows in the world to work on and the smoothest drawing/firing bows made in my honest opinion, the latest production model to my knowledge is the Oneida "switchblade"

@blackfeatherarchery Sorry but you are misstaken. The definition of a compound bow is that it have letoff and you don't have to hold the full force of the bow at full draw. Just the fact that the outboard limbs are recurve in shape does not make it a recurve. I currently own 5 different Oneida models, 1 Mongolian recurve and a longbow. So I know the difference between a recurve and a compound bow. An Oneida behaves as any other compound when you shot it, just a lot smoother! :)
@the10wyatt ...Yes it is... a compound bow is any bow that relaxes in draw weight..according to the Allen US patent...RR
