Nina you are wonderful!!!!!! I always watch your videos and I hope I will become a flutist as clever as you are!!! :) big greetigs from an Italian fan!!!
This is the best performance of this piece I have heard! I am a high school flautist and I look up to you sooo much! Thank you for being an inspiration, keep the fantastic work!
A lot of mistakes? Not really and that's what REAL music is. Were there mistakes? probably, but no performance is perfect and maybe she had an off day. Real music has its mistakes somewhere even if it's tiny. Most CD recordings are edited and redone to sound perfect. This is what REAL music is, maybe you should check out Nina's philosophies.
The fact of the matter is, her "philosophies" blatantly state that it's alright to make mistakes - so an aspiring flute performer should have the mindset of mistakes being okay? Should one be satisfied with mistakes in their performances? Sounds like a way for her to feel better about her performing to me - and as for sound engineering in recordings, they can't edit notes and articulations; but when you hear them live, they are amazing nonetheless.
Well, dearie -- it is ok to make mistakes. It's part of being human. That humanity is what each performer brings to the music. Obv. you don't do well with that idea. I do hope your playing is as flawless as you demand that it be from others, though. Oh, and thank CHRIST that Nina's not "performing to {you}" -- for if she were, it would be frightfully boring, played to your level. Best of luck in your quest to be "perfect" !
Nina, there is some fabulous playing going on here. I've heard Galway live many times, and although I personally think he is out of this world fabulous, he is NOT always totally perfct. You do so much to encourage flute playing. I don't always agree with your concepts, but your playing is fabulous and you need to receive credit for the work you do for the art that we all love. You should NOT be intimidated to put this performance out, it is great! Keep up the great work. Frank
BRAVO!! What a magnificent performance!!! Oh my God!!! I noticed something else about your performances. Unlike so many other serious grim faced players, when you perform, you smile and seem to really have fun!! I have to try that next time I perform! That really made me smile!! Keep it coming... Nina.. Love ya!
quite interesting piece some how makes me think of the late 50's for some reason =O
but the piece will never bore you, there are many things going on which keeps you listening and the breaks of solos to everyone is a nice technique to take the listen on a small journey =D
wow quite deep in thought there =P
well anyway once again keep up the ammmazing flute playing and do as you normally do and enjoy yourself =D

Puh-lease. I know I come off as horribly critical, but in a career field that you direly find important, one can only expect to be picky.

Why the thin tone?
The vibrato makes me sad.
I hope Emmanuel walks on the stage to rip you to shreds one day, haha. Jesus!
Jeez, for a professor, there sure are a lot of mistakes...

And instead of making a list of what she did wrong, try posting CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.
