So if the members of the Constitutional Convention agreed with the revolutionary idea that being economically tied to England was detrimental to the standard of living within the Colonies, then how come the Federalists pushed so hard to secure economic ties with England during the negotiations for Jay's Treaty? How come the most well known and respected Federalist of them all, George Washington championed the cause?
I see a common error in this video. People equate the Constitution with the founding of the U.S. The Constitutional Convention were not the founding fathers and their ideology was fought against by people such as John Paine and Thomas Jefferson. The Revolutionary war was not fought on the principles of the Constitution. It is disinformation to present history in such a light.
@Mortonc3 I'm being a little unfair I guess, they don't equate it in this video, but there is still the insinuation that the Constitution was written with the same principles which lead to the Revolution. If you read revolutionary documentation its opposed many of the ideas incorporated into the Constitution under the Convention, such as a single executive head, taxation, the mode of election and the absence of a bill of rights.
@Mortonc3 It is true that Paine and Jefferson worked to provoke the Revolution prior to the Constitution. But the Constitution couldn't very well have been written before freedom had been won. So while the US celebrated 4 July 1776 as its birthday, it took some time to establish exactly how government was to function - AND WHAT ITS LIMITATIONS WERE.
I find it funny how this video constantly compares the Constitution with the 10 Commandments. Especially since the Constitution contradicts the majority of the 10 Commandments.

This video does a great job of showing how America set out to be such a great thing--a bastion of freedom. And that is what the idea of America and it's Constitution still represents. I must argue against one point stated in this video. The video is meant to imply that the Federalists' views and ideas were the ones used to frame the Constitution.
The fact is that the Federalists' (nationalists) ideas were REJECTED at the Constitutional Convention. The Republicanists' (Anti-Federalists) ideas were the ones chosen.
The Constitution was written to "form a more perfect UNION" of states, not to create a new mega-state, it was supposed to be something like the EU of today.

Lets say if KFC decided to make a exclusive deal with pepsi that said KFC would only serve pepsi as drinks. If you wanted another drink, you could go a competitor that offers more drinks and KFC would lose business as a result. The same thing applies to the internet, a couple of years ago, Lycos tried to do the same thing, however, lycos lost a lot of business and they got attacked a lot, and they lost business, they have never recovered since then. However, let's say that Pepsi talked to all the fast food joints, making deals with every single one of them to sell only Pepsi products. Where's the competition, now? There is evidence showing that ISPs have communicated about the elimination of Net Neutrality without this new object of competition that would keep things running smoothly. A monopoly would result.

All offerers of cable and satellite secondary network services(that beyond what you receive locally) have few channels, price hikes for more channels, and larger numbers of pay-per-view material than what comes along with your service package. The internet could easily become this way as well. That is what ISP companies want. No "Pepsi" would have to buy them off.

Yes, the government has caused the television monopoly. This is true. However, we are not about to PASS Net Neutrality. It has been in use since the internet began. It is up for renewal; it is not a new law. It is the reason why you have complete freedom on the internet, today. A REAL free market.
Lets imagine for a moment if the government built 1 huge highway across america that everyone was allowed to use and only 1. At first, it would be great, because not many people would use it, but over time more cars would get on, bigger more advanced cars and soon it would get very crowded and travel would become very slow. But Then one day, a company offered to built more highways. These highways would be faster, bigger and more efficient.
All the company wants to do in exchange for building these highways is to charge a small fee, afterall, they are spending billons to build them. I see a common error in this video. People equate the Constitution with the founding of the U.S. The Constitutional Convention were not the founding fathers and their ideology was fought against by people such as John Paine and Thomas Jefferson. The Revolutionary war was not fought on the principles of the Constitution. It is disinformation to present history in such a light.

@Mortonc3 I'm being a little unfair I guess, they don't equate it in this video, but there is still the insinuation that the Constitution was written with the same principles which lead to the Revolution. If you read revolutionary documentation its opposed many of the ideas incorporated into the Constitution under the Convention, such as a single executive head, taxation, the mode of election and the absence of a bill of rights.

So while the US celebrated 4 July 1776 as its birthday, it took some time to establish exactly how government was to function - AND WHAT ITS LIMITATIONS WERE.

The Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion, so one can worship whatever god he or she chooses. Which is in direct opposition to the 1st Commandment.

um, actually i made just over 18k for the 2008 year. out of $3,000 taken in taxes, i would be getting $145 back.
$1400 in medicare, SS, etc. This is forever lost.
$1600 in fed withholding.
$1480 in actual income taxes.
The ONLY reason i get the withholding back is because of the Hope Credit, which gives me a tax credit up to $1800.

This is a film that makes me actually feel patriotic about my country, even during a time when I disagree so much with what our government has become. This video does a great job of showing how America set out to be such a great thing--a bastion of freedom. And that is what the idea of America and it's Constitution still represents. I must argue against one point stated in this video. The video is meant to imply that the Federalists' views and ideas were the ones used to frame the Constitution.
The fact is that the Federalists' (nationalists) ideas were REJECTED at the Constitutional Convention. The Republicanists' (Anti-Federalists) ideas were the ones chosen.
The Constitution was written to "form a more perfect UNION" of states, not to create a new mega-state, it was supposed to be something like the EU of today.

That is the point of this whole program. You need to watch all of it before commenting. His point was that America IS a great Nation when it is run by the Constitution as set forth by our Fore Fathers. He later shows how America has declined to a Government ruled by Business Interest and whatever else motivates the select few who rule it and not by the Constitution.

Most constitutional scholars describe the US system of government as profoundly dangers, as it has a joint head of state and head of government in the form of the President, who has little accountability to the legislature.
The Westminster system (which the American colonists broke away from) is considered to be the best and safest form of government as there is systemic accountability.

I'm not sure I want to vote for Obama anymore...but it seems that he's taking away less rights than the so-called "Republicans". The Republicans want to tap our phones and make war with every other country in the world...the Democrats merely want to redistribute the rich's wealth to the poor. I'd say Obama is the lesser of two evils.

First, I did mention the internet, and second, we dont need net neutrality. Hillary Clinton supports Net Neutrality. Net Netrality is just a set a laws that forces everyone to use the same line of internet. This will clog down and slow down the net. Yes, you may have to pay for it, but Verizon, at&t are gonna spend billions on fiber optics and all they want to do is make some profit from it.

Lets say if KFC decided to make a exclusive deal with pepsi that said KFC would only serve pepsi as drinks. If you wanted another drink, you could go a competitor that offers more drinks and KFC would lose business as a result. The same thing applies to the internet, a couple of years ago, Lycos tried to do the same thing, however, lycos lost a lot of business and they got attacked a lot, and they lost business, they have never recovered since then. So, basically competiton prevents it

It should, yes. I wouldn't worry much about it if your hypothetical example was more fitting to what ISPs are interested in doing.
However, let's say that Pepsi talked to all the fast food joints, making deals with every single one of them to sell only Pepsi products. Where's the competition, now? There is evidence showing that ISPs have communicated about the elimination of Net Neutrality without this new object of competition that would keep things running smoothly. A monopoly would result.

first off, your theory on pepsi is simply baseless paranoia. First off, your exaggerating pepsi's power. Pepsi doesnt have enough money to buy off its competition. Why would Mcdonalds and kfc both agree to sell pepsi? If either company was smart, they would reject the deal and offer more drinks. This would give them a better edge and kfc would eventually reject thd deal too. Think about it, if you had a choice, would u go to a kfc that just sold pepsi or one with more choices?

This has nothing to do with Pepsi, Raynor. This was only following along with your example. Look at cable television. All offerers of cable and satellite secondary network services(that beyond what you receive locally) have few channels, price hikes for more channels, and larger numbers of pay-per-view material than what comes along with your service package. The internet could easily become this way as well. That is what ISP companies want. No "Pepsi" would have to buy them off.

lol, cable television is a government created monopoly. In fact, if you passed net neutrality, the internet is guranteed to become like cable television. Due to various regulations, prices are high for cable television, its all the government's fault. Monopolies cannot exist a true free market. The free market solves all problems or at least does a better job than the government.

Yes, the government has caused the television monopoly. This is true. However, we are not about to PASS Net Neutrality. It has been in use since the internet began. It is up for renewal; it is not a new law. It is the reason why you have complete freedom on the internet, today. A REAL free market.

Lets imagine for a moment if the government built 1 huge highway across america that everyone was allowed to use and only 1. At first, it would be great, because not many people would use it, but over time more cars would get on, bigger more advanced cars and soon it would get very crowded and travel would become very slow. But Then one day, a company offered to built more highways. These highways would be faster, bigger and more efficient.

All the company wants to do in exchange for building these highways is to charge a small fee, afterall, they are spending billons to build them. But some people dont want to pay these fees because they like to use a lot of cars, on the internet, the example of these are torrent users and google. These are the people, net neutrality protects. So, all net neutrality does is force everyone to use 1 highway. If net Neutrality passes, it will slow and clog down the internet. look into the future.
