The Roman Impire was the most anti-God, blood losting fools, anti-family, and Felt the need for the control of the world. Satan could not have thought up a better system to fight God there ever was. The Impire failed because of it's need to feel Perversion it could thinking up ways to have sex in every perverted way and was the mother of every thought of blood lust there ever was. @turtle4aire You can put a bad twist on everything.
They also civilized the world, growing the worlds technology faster then anyone else before them. They also built some of the most amazing structures ever made by man, And military wise were the best ever.
After they fell the world didnt advance. and we even forgot how to make cement and glass.
i made a short two part documentary on this subject using footage from these TV shows anyone who who has an interist in this period in history should come on to my channel and check it out, this in one of my 1st vids so please dont judge to harshly
Roman soldiers fought for the might and glory of the Republic/Empire and their gods, something they had been brought up to believe in. The Punic forces consisted for a very large part of mercenaries. They fought for money. One of many factors that caused the Romans to be ultimately victorious.
@SSTTEEAALLTTHH what do you mean by Punic forces? To my understanding, the word punic derivates from phoenician which is, as you know, a very ancient culture from before the Romans that settled in what it was known as Carthage. I wouldn´t think Carthaginians were mere mercenaries but a sort of the other blooming culture that wanted to have control of the Mediterranean sea, hence the three self-devastating wars against the Romans.
It was a fantastic show I loved it, but apparently they ran out of money due to the realism they tried to stay true to, which was commendable, but the ending suffered and was too quickly tapered off imho.
@123backinyerface I agree, I preferred the first season so much more. As you point out, the ending was rushed into, though, and that is why is frickin' didn't jive for me.
This was an incredible series, i am re watching it, but with my dad this time, hes never seen it, and he loves it. I can't believe they never made a season 3 :(
I don't agree with the casting character for Julius Caesar, and Pompey the Great. They just don't seem to fit the actual personas of the people they are portraying... Where's the famous quiff for Pompey? and I don't think he was fat, same with Caesar there are no statues depicting a fat Caesar even in his latter years. But most of all they just don't do it for me... The film " Romes last dictator" that Caesar was a perfect casting...
For those interested...the Working title of the upcoming Rome movie is "Bona Dea". Production postponed untill next summer for actors availability as I understand it.. There is a facebook page Facebook Rome Movie (2011).
The series Rome is equal to if not better in production that Sopranos. Very authentic. The name of the song is "We are free" by Lisa Gerard. It was not in 300, it was the end song in Gladiator with Russel Crowe.
does this series really feel like a HBO production because Im thinkin of gettin it but i dnt want it 2 hav that crappy BBC drama feel about it. I want that classic HBO feel with The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood etc, as opposed 2 Doctor Who, Casualty, Eastenders
actualy the film is being made homes and it will be made to the end hopefull with Pulo AND VORENUS in it. i just hope they kill that little big mout sumbitch Cezarion cuz that panzie screws everything up. Besides historictly he was killed like theres no tomorow so yeah....
Funny that the music used for tributing the series is exactly the same type of film which the series tried to distance itself from. "The film-makers stressed that they wanted to portray a more accurate picture of Rome, a gritty and realistic city as opposed to what they call the "HollyRome" that appears in films like Gladiator." - The historical consultant of the series, Jonathan Stamp.
Really? That's awesome if it's true. Which of the three credited creators is your dad? Anyways, next time you talk to him thank him on my behalf for creating the best story I've ever seen on either television or film, and if you could, maybe ask him his thoughts on writing a similar type of series set in ancient or medieval China.
His name is Bruno Heller, though there is three credited creators, he is the one who pitched it and wrote the pilot. At the time he was not well known at all so the other two guys were the sponsors of his project. He also wrote most of the episodes for the show and was the executive producer.
Uhh... Well my dad was just asked to write the movie if it happens but he thinks it probably wont because of the cost aspects, which is why the show went off the air in the first place.
I most certainly am not full of shit. My dad is bruno heller, I am his son. He is currently working on the Mentalist. I am not allowed to discuss the details of the movie at this point.
and anyone with access to a computer could say that...honestly, to prove you are who you say you are you must provide evidence independently verifiable and currently not available on the internet.
@enuneko I do not know if you are really the son of Bruno Heller, but even if you actually are, you have to understand/remember the internet is full of people wanting attention, and no one is going to believe you. If you are, good for you. If you aren't, ah well. Shrug. Also, to the question of why is it rated R, there is a crapload of swearing, along with the sex scenes and the war scenes get pretty damn graphic too. Limbs missing, bloody, very big violence. I have seen worse, though.
probably not, because of how costly it would be, they also destroyed the cinnecita set which cost millions to make in the first place considering it took up 3 squar miles of space
wow, are you really son of the creator of Rome? sorry if I am meddling in conversation, but it feels nice to think I could be talking to the son of one of the creators of one of the best tv series I have ever watched and loved.
Pity they didn't continue it, and that the film probably shall not be made. Still, I have hope, greetings to you and to your dad. Rome is really a cool show

Should've had that song "Divinitus" from Rome: Total War. I think the Carthaginians were a better nation, though. Can't believe they lost to Rome.
