In the book, a very long engagment Mathield is in a wheel chair (yes they had them back then)(and her father is very rich so he could afford on)becuase she jumped offa roof and broke the nervouse system in her legs.she did not come down with polio! just thought you ought to know just in case any one wanted to pick out the errors on the moive from the book.
it's a disease where your nervous system break s down a part of your body or more. It can lead to being paralyzed or death at the worst, but normally it is just a limb that is very weak, generally legs
Very sweet. I also love the scene right before they make love for the first time. When he holds up the candles and she blows it out. It's so innocent and romantic I love it!
I have to see this movie!! Could someone please please please upload it..with english subtitles? I'm not fluent in french..so it wouldnt be as enjoyable knowing only half of what gaspard is saying ;) It's okay if you can't get it with subtitles though :)
I'd also like to highly recommend this movie. It is honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen in my entire life. It's such a shame it didn't get more exposure in English speaking nations.

The first time I saw this movie I cried through almost the whole thing. It's such a beautiful film about how love can endure.

The film is a masterpiece.
I always cry at many scenes, specially at the end.
By the way: MANECH MARRYING MATHILDE! MATHILDE MARRYING MANECH!

Oh my God, haha. Is it bad that I had to laugh about that? Anyway, it certainly wasn't easy for her to run like this.

I prefer the book by very very far but the movie was good thanks to his actors and Jeunet's crazy mind.
