Is Parallels irresponsible? Are they selling to illegitimate companies? A store apparently sold me the same original product that they had sold to someone else.
I only realized almost 2 years after because there is an apparent defect & Parallels doesn't give support unless you register. When I tried to register, the other person already had.
Taking photos of the original envelope, volunteering info & hours of foreign calls to wrong #s ... & STILL CAN'T GET REGISTERED / SUPPORT!
@iamseeingyou I doubt that this happened because of hte store. this is probably because someone pirated parallels and used a keygen cracker to generate a product key to legitimize their copy. not because parallels made any mistake. It just so happened to be the same as yours. thats why you should register same day you buy. Think about it. why would they jeopardize their company by reissuing a product key when they generate those keys at no cost to themselves?
You seldom see it because Mac OS was designed to work on Mac Hardware, getting it work on AMD and some Intel based PC's is difficult. iAtakos is an example of people desperately trying to get OS X on a PC.
Conversely, XP was designed to run on practically anything (poorly), thus it can be run on a Macbook with the adequate drivers installed.
Can you run applications from a Mac onto windows. For example I have installed photoshop CS3 on my Mac, can I open this in Windows and use it there too ?
No, actually you can't; I wish I could though- you see the applications files are different on the mac then on the windows. Unless you have the windows version of photoshop you cannot do this.
seriously parallel is the shitest thing ever, never even opens for me any more, unbelievably shit, i never write these kind of comment but i had to warn u DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!
actually you cant run OSX in windows. Because apple is money hungry and doesn't sell OEM OS software. If you want OSX you HAVE to buy a mac. Another reason Windows>Mac. BUT if you want the safety of MAC get Linux b/c linux>windows>mac
I think the difference is parallels is not a virtual machine, if I'm not mistaken it runs the second os natively on the processor - could be wrong though.
did you upgrade your memory? what's ur processor speed? generally if you have minimum requirements for a macbook. it'd run significantly slower. also on parallels have you checked ur memory placement? sometimes, even if you have enough ram if only have 128 mb going to windows, yeah, it'd be going really slow.
Could somebody explain why did this program crash in an apple store while I was using it? Literally the Mac crashed. Kernel Panic. The black screen of death.
I'm tired of reading comments by people asking "Does parallels come with this or that" Go to their website, you will find that it is just the virtual machine software you are buying - its $79 do you really think it comes with MS Office or Vista at that price? Please...
heh, vista runs too much eyecandy and background apps -.-. it hogs your ram hella bad. thats why nearly every PC vendor is still offering XP with their computers, that along with many other reasons.
You did a very good job of showing how Parallels works, thank you. I want OSX so bad, but I'll have to get a shitty un-customizable iMac to use it. The iBooks looks nice though, I'll definitely be getting one the next time I buy a laptop.

i have a 1.83ghz macbook with 512 ram do u think the ram makes that much or a difference or is it the cpu that u have nice video, photoshop is realy fast for 2 os s runiing at the same time
Yes..excellent...Only bad thinkg is you can't get windows live plus so you cant see all the fancy nakmes and colours and instead, A jumble of numbers n colour codes insted! Bt I use all them and I love it...!
@ raw665: No, doesn't have to be XP SP2. As you can see Norman 1977 is running Windows XP Prof sans SP2. OMG! This was awesome. So Parallels is another software? Virtual machine? I gotta find out about it. If that's how a Macbook is ... I surely want to buy one now!
So dos all macbooks have parallels?/ boot camp. Im thinking on getting one and looked on here for demos of it being used and all i find is "mac/pc" arguments and then this, running windows on mac. DO u have to buy a windows service pack or is it in it?
You have to reboot between Os's with Bootcamp, and with Parallels, it's instant - this video is awesome. The screen rez turned me off initially, but this makes me think twice. Wow.
