didnt they mess up though? unless they knew what was wrong with the person..they should have considered c-spine, and strapped him to long board and took precautions....just sayin' could have had cervical or spinal injuries...
@justbcause71 Not necessarily, at least with our protocols, if the patient is in a rapidly deteriorating conditions we can throw out long backboards and other c-spine precautions because time is critical. Basically, doesn't matter if they're c-spine is secure if they're not breathing. You always assess and correct anything with ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) then you can move on to other issues

" This is used often when the patient's condition is deteriorating or is critical calling for rapid transport to the hospital . In this situation , a rapid patient assessment is done , baseline vials are taken , and life threatening problems are addressed and necessary interventions are applied . Ongoing interventions and assessments are done en route to the hospital .
