Although you're correct that a pick was used on this song, the one who played bass on the track was Glenn Hughes, not Roger Glover.

Your point is still standing though! Pickstyle on bass is often discriminated against, but it is still a valid practice with its own strengths and weaknesses. And hey, don't take my word for it - look into the above mentioned examples, Chris Squire of Yes, or Mike Gordon of Phish...
