during the writers strike, the actors were offered a less amount of money to make the final few episodes but they turned the offer down. in hollywood, alot of actors won't take less pay for a project than what they were normally getting. that's the same reason why Lizzie McGuire ended as well, Hilary was offered a continuance with the show but they wouldn't pay her more. So she decided not to continue the show.
