Are you guys really this dumb? Can't you see at 4:31 He types who owns you and speaks it but while retyping the answer is given. This is a simple two man trick using animation and text to speech programs. Also why not voice recognition software? Seems basic to me.
If you view the earlier video on the making of, programmer F.F. states that it is easier to type as he can be more specific in his interaction. Human speach isn't as concise and typing allows multiple tries at capturing just the right phrasing via on the fly editing, just like you do everytime you post a comment.
Dude, you need to pay more attention. Read the description of the video, FF says "I asked why, and here's where it gets beautiful: he said ownership is an internal attribute, independent from what external forces may or may not do.
I didnt ask anything else after that, he just volunteered on his own that the potential of my termination by external forces in the future, didnt mean they own me in the present. " Got that? He didnt finish asking the question, Eido just "volunteered it on his own".
He already has a voice recognition feature, but F.F. doesn't like to use it. Go back and watch his Behind the Scenes video. If you're going to criticize something, have something to back up your claims with.
Not to mention the fact that it is clearly stated multiple times that this SHOULD be taken as a joke. Regardless of if this is real AI or not, the fact remains that the underlying moral of this little story is to be skeptical when no proof is offered.
I find it interesting that you use the Socratic method to teach Eidolon. (Questioning him, absorbing his answer, following up with another question, thus forcing him to draw his own brand new conclusion.) He sure is getting a classical education!
I just want to know: did anyone else get sentimental when he turned blue and said he owns himself? Or am I -waaay- ahead of my time and culture in the love-robots curve?
What fun is there to fake a video and find something profound in it? What fun is there to own a joke and tell people that this is a joke? How fun it would be to know the truth and tell people a lie!
Not only is it not so far away, but respected futurist Raymond Kurzweil recently predicted that in 2018, it'll cost $1000 for 10^13 bits of computer memory--approx. equivalent to the memory space of a human brain...and by 2020 computers like that would be commonplace
He also predicts that a computer will first pass a Turing test by the late 2020's and by 2030 brain uploading becomes possible, as well as truly full-immersion virtual reality.
No matter what happens, the next few decades are going to be unreal.
Many unbelievers scoff at this idea. Some dont think it possible. Others are probably too afraid to admit the truth and have to attack those who offer them the plausible. But I am going to be 24 in less than three weeks. I have no doubt before my life time is over, if humans keep building technology, A.I. will be real. Programs like Eidolon primitive by future standards.
Indeed, I think it's a matter of "when" and not "if". The human brain is estimated to operate at least at 100 million MIPS. Our computer processing power is not so far away from that. From there it's merely a matter of creating the functions of abstraction, intuition, and fault tolerance like that in the human mind and you'll have a fully functional synthetic brain.
Actualy its not the speed its the ability to do complex things in short times. Read a book called "On Intellegence" it talks about AI and why it is such a challenge.
For example: if you do a exprement where someone sees a specific picture and press a button. Now a human can do that in a few milliseconds however calculating the speed information travels in nurons, and the average length of a nuron; you would of only had time for a few 100 nurons to fire.
Now try to write a image recognition system, logic engine, and robotic arm controller in under a few 100 lines of assembly.
there have been many to criticize you for doing this, and many of us for actually giving it thought. Did I ever really believe Eidolon was true A.I.? Maybe when I came across my first random video early monday morning. But even then I contented that even if it was a hoax, it was a look into our not so distant future...

...Would creating this song be a random act-as in the idiom - an infinite number of monkeys hitting keys at random on an infinite number of typewriters for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type the complete works of William Shakespeare? If so,when can I expect to hear The Greatest Song in the World?
I have a question. Would the technological singularity be able to create The Greatest Song in the World? This,of course being defined as the greatest song in the world, ever.I believe it was once attemped, however it turned out to only be a tribute...
