@Eeza07 God, yes. A couple decades ago when I spun at WHRW-Binghamton, a DJ gave me a solo piano version on tape I love. I feel Bruce's early records didn't reveal the full power of the songs they contained; you had to see him live for that.
@hopfenschorle Bruce wrote the song. It is on his first album "Greetings from Asbury Park N.J.". Manfred Mann covered the song as well as Spirit in the Night and Blinded by the Light from the same album.
@KELSCENE Okay, I'll agree with that. I'll settle for "outperformed", rather than "fixed" ;-) Seriously, though, I appreciate Springeteen's version, I just don't like his slurred, unenunciated lyrics, swooping tones, half-spoken melodies or empty production. When he abandons that and goes more "full pop" (like "Born to Run") he is far more tolerable, but I'd still probably prefer a Manfred Mann remake of BtR over Springsteen's.
@17Hongo Oh, yeah. In fact, Manfred Mann's version of For You is one of my favorite songs ever recorded. Kudos to BS for being an excellent songwriter (and M.Mann for being a song fixer...)
@Waponiw00 I actually just found it after posting that comment. we're all entitled to our opinion, and MM did a good job of fixing the song for his style, but personally I prefer the Boss
CONGRATS on your grammy nominations Bruce,,I say it's time for the Grammys to honor you with a Lifetime achievement award, you deserve to join the ranks of David Bowie..Simon and Garfunkle..Pete Seeger..The Beach Boys and so on.Thumbs up if you agree.

If someone knows how to get the DVD of this concert, I'd give my right arm. Was there in front of the second stage and would love to see something that captured all the camera angles comming from the film crews. Nice post...keep it coming if you have more.
uh, you might want to watch the video again...assuming you can see the white letters on the bottom of the video, they are a clue as to how to locate a DVD of the concert! not sure they want your right arm, but maybe something in trade?
It was unbelievable! Great show. I enjoyed every minute of it. It was my 31st show and ranks right up there as one of the best. Hope it's not my last.
