But my own two eyes would prove me wrong that day.
There are things that I've done...
Only seen by the sun...
And those things will be buried in my grave."
I was just listening to this song, suddenly heard some weird static at the end, put the volume up and was like.. wtf!? Looked it up and this is what I found. Sounds about right.
When I first heard this song it made me think of traveling across a post-apocalyptic wilderness, dead trees and empty buildings leering at you as you passed them by under a bleached and scorching sky.
What movie came out a few months later? The Book of Eli....
@zosthegoatherd I wouldnt doubt it if Wes actually got the idea from Coil, he has been known for his very dark and bizzare music taste, and I think it would be sad if Wes didnt know who Coil was.
@LittleBigLowe "I've seen good people bleed. And I thought I'd seen it all. But my own two eyes would prove me wrong that day. There are things I've done, only seen by the sun. And those things will be buried in my grave." =) such happy lyrics.
I picture an orange sky glowing from radiation and a few dead trees on the land, then in the piano part, i picture a light drizzle of rain, reminding me that all is not lost. Funny thing, since a nuclear explosion would cause an "iodine sky". lol also this song reminds me of fallout 3
When I close my eyes I see a city with me in it. A city destroyed from years of no one inhabiting it but me. I mean in such a lonely city, who wants to go on? I feel like I'm pushed to live on to just find one person out of the nothingness to love me. The piano sounds like happy memories, but they are just that, intangible. I could settle down in one place and work on my living situation, but I don't care about myself if no one else does...
@1x5h07 i get what u mean.....and on the last piano part maybe a happy suicide to get away from it all? sounds very cynical..
also did u notice the distorted triad part got more and more distorted as it played compared with the first time it played the second and third time and so on...i didnt count how many times it was played
This song is so good it stood out like a sore thumb to me. I loved the whole album, but this simple little song with no vocals stabbed me right through. Beautiful, and something about it tugs at a deep pit in me. Something you can't quite remember, like it's right around the corner of your memory, but you can't get to it. And maybe you don't want to, because there is this quiet unease to the song, it's beautiful but uneasy. Like remembering old suffering from a need still gone unfulfilled.
I love this atmosphere, so chilling and intriguing. Do you know any other songs of this kind? Or band or whatever else? Please answer if you know. ^^ THX
@BrainFirewall I do, indeed. Check out the rest of the Black Light Burns Cruel Melody album, look for instrumentals from Cover your Heart, and then check a band "Tides From Nebula" (on myspace), then seek for Nine Inch Nails album "Ghosts" and only that ablum. Then maybe Pain of Salvation (album "Be"), Tomahawk and A Perfect Circle. Hope I helped.
Also, this may sound silly, but I don't know if you are familiar with a series of video games called Silent Hill, but there are soundtracks to them. Definitely check them out. A guy by the name of Akira Yamaoka makes very similar songs for that game franchise.
John Frusciante (ex rhcp guitarist) has some songs identical to this, one of his songs ''23 goes into end'' i immediately thought of when i heard this.
This song has a texture which reminds me of a dead city in the distant future. There is a slight orange tinge behind the city and nothing but evidence of death all around.
all of you people that love this song, I hope you've listened to NIN, they have a shitload of songs like this or better and they take you to another place just as this. someone already commented, this song is much like a warm place by nin, and also the ghost albums have just instrumental songs that are amazing. I love this song and the bands good, but NIN lives in my heart
This song takes me to a vacant, ethereal realm spinning slowly in crimson darkness and powered by my vices and transgressions. Ominous, but gentle, its a place of solitude and reflection, truly therapeutic. lol i swear im not some emo martyr douche, but this is just one of those songs that possesses that kind of power. fucking bewitching almost.
I imagine a cornfield at night, or sun going down. And I picture crows around me. I'm inside the cornfield with these mysterious beautiful birds floating and landing around me. My environment of this song is weird, but that's what I see when I listen to this. Love BLB
Excellent track, hands down. Not comparing the bands, but the overall vibe of this track (to me) is slightly reminiscent of the first minute of NIN - 12 Ghosts II as well as 30 + 36 - Ghosts IV. Desolation captured in musical form... wow.
i picture an old breakwater/jetty kind of place at sea. and its midnight with a few clouds and the stars are bright en there are creatures flying around make those weard noises. there is an old wooden house made of seawood where once lived an old fisherman. but the house is emty
I picture waking up in a sort of destroyed house in the middle of a desert with white sand, ashes falling every which way, and the sky is a blood red. I just walk around and observe the new destruction that has taken form around me. Nothing special.
keepvid, this free website, works. Your computer also has a built-in recording system (search "sound recorder"), which you might be able to rig to just record internal sounds. Other programs like Audacity can also record. If you get stuck, use google for help.

the mental image i get whilst listening is a world of bleek during the end colors start to slowly emerge and life is braught back to the world. once a desolant wasteland now a full world of life.

I think Wes in an amazing guitarist. But this is the most droning going to nowhere song I've ever heard. For those of you who find solitude in this might as well sit in a corner and listen the the sound of your own breath as it bounces off the same walls your facing.
This song takes me to a place where I almost don't want to be or am not yet ready to take it all in, yet I know, I will one day have to confront it; live it.. loss will come to pass.
I dont ever want to be there when it happens, but it will when the time comes.
I keep picturing a shoreline or beach where the water waves keep rolling, under a grey or copper-rusted hue.
The water is the judgement of whether i will find the strength to tread the tide or give up and let it drown me.
this song just makes me feel like im becoming one with whatever im laying on, and rids my body of anxiety and stress in waves of anxiety attacks that i can control and physical stress that i become very aware of and can focus it out of me.
This song... it makes my heart and soul feel pain, it drives me into a feeling of nonexistence, yet still knowing everything that goes on around me. It's beautiful, and perfect.
"I'd seen people bleed and I thought I'd seen it all, but my own two eyes would prove me wrong that day. There's things that I've done only seen by the sun and those things will be buried at my grave." -iodine sky / cruel melody / black light burns
I can see this being in a movie, maybe something like if Resident Evil was made like the original games made you feel... god damn i hate the people who ruined the resident evil movies, the games were just unbelievable for their time... I remember as a kid almost shitting myself they were that good. Yeah.
This song is so.......god dreadfully melancholinized. I have listend to this song for the past week straight and i cannot et enought,. It is certainly mind haunting
For awhile, I went insane over this song. I mean literally insane. I couldn't stop listening to it and for some reason it depressed me. I still listen to it, and I still feel the same way. I've got more to say but I'm just gonna keep it too myself. =\ :P
omg i first heard this song driving through the woods at night, completely baked. i remember how amazing and freaky it was listening to it. however in a strange way, this song is beautiful.
this song makes u think of everything pretty much. the first time i heard i i was like wow this is amazing but then i heard it agian and it sounds like a song for death but it makes u happy i have odd feelings whenever i hear it
(From Wiki): At the end of Iodine Sky, around 8:00, one can very faintly hear: "I'd seen people bleed and I thought I'd seen it all, but my own two eyes were perfectly normal that day. There's things that I've done only seen by the sun and those things will be buried at my grave."
Awesome song, yet it has a sad feeling to it. Greatly composed, one of the best songs from the album. I like hidden messages.
why are people so impressed when they hear the truth? is it so shocking to be reminded of reality? props tonik, but i think this song deserves more attention, so everyone else start a blog or someshit and leave you tube for entertainment not a forum
Just hearing this get's my heart pumping. I have these weird things floating through my mind, making me become excited. I love Black Light Burns, and as soon as I heard this song it was true love.
the haunting sound reminds me of suicide and death... im listening to it now as i think my brother (not by blood) and best fuckin friend is going to kill himself tonight... if anyone on the news hears of a man (19 years of age) in michigan comiting suicide may 19 in the middle of the night... it was him

Yeah.

For awhile, I went insane over this song. I mean literally insane. I couldn't stop listening to it and for some reason it depressed me. I still listen to it, and I still feel the same way. I've got more to say but I'm just gonna keep it too myself. =\ :P

I love Black Light Burns, and as soon as I heard this song it was true love.
thedarkersideofyou 3 years ago
well, all BLB song tinkle imagination. Thats because of more artist-alike style, by Wes, Josh, Nick... all band is involved.

the haunting sound reminds me of suicide and death... im listening to it now as i think my brother (not by blood) and best fuckin friend is going to kill himself tonight... if anyone on the news hears of a man (19 years of age) in michigan comiting suicide may 19 in the middle of the night... it was him
clausnowell 3 years ago
loooooooool
and finally... what happened with your brother?

everyone has the full right to their life- if they find the trouble outways the joy, then they can feel free to commit suicide
-at worst, they commit a mistake, not a crime
