Checkpoints are for conditioning you to seeing more checkpoints so you don't freak out and protest. Period. Sure they catch some drunks who think they're not that drunk, but it's about acclimatising you to warrantless stops.

I support DUI laws if the cops pull you over for driving eratically, but checkpoints are the biggest bunch of B.S. ive heard. simply, its unconstitutional.

DUI laws are one law i will fight to keep in place. If you drive drunk you need to be in jail. Not on the road. all of us have seen what the out come is. Some family who has done nothing wrong ends up paying the bill. When the drunk ass hole behind the wheel hits them. Alcohol is legal. The state licenses the vendors then taxes the sale. If you get caught driving after consuming said legal item you will be arrested and fined. If you are jailed you will pay for every day in jail via the fine. You will have to pay an agent of the court to get "your" license back and attend stupid classes and AA as if you had actually done something wrong. In Illinois you have to pay to have a "blow into device" installed in your car after DUI and pay a monthly reading fee.
