I have a wet/dry sump filter with refugium. Check out my other videos I explain more about it. I also have the fluval 405 in my 47 gallon bow front (fresh water). Its a good filter should be fine for a 55 gallon tank. Thanks.
hey great video... question i been using inst ocean salt but my tank glass get dirty(red) i dont know why? and one more question what kind of filter you uesd ... i saw it but did't got good look on it.... which is the best filter wet dry or the one you have thanks:)
Basic Question: Im just starting out, how long should I cycle a 50 gal. for??? Some say a few weeks some say a few months. ***Trying to create as much of a pristine environment as possible.
good question. Its been about one year now for me but I think i cycled the water for about 3 weeks. I was told to cycle the water for one month but I got ancey. I really never had any major problems, the only thing I can suggest is to use Reverse osmosis water only!!! Try to stay away from distiled water the KH and will be way to high. Reserch everything and ask alot of questions. Thanks for the comments.
try b-ionic bro!those kent are not that good.fake stuff specially if you have corals.i have 90 gallon and i used those stuff and really good.check it out!talk to you later...
How often do you perform water changes ? You shoudln;t be dosing that much in your tank. You have primarily soft corals which at most would need a little Iodine boost ( I"m talking a capful every two weeks) You have a few amount of hard corals so you should add some calcium and alk. but not that much strontium. Your two part system should contain strontium and you do not need to dose that. Either way strontium has very little to do with calcium versus magnesium.I could go on a lot more
I cant keep hard corals for very long maybe three weeks then they die. Also all of my anenomes died I cant keep them either. My soft corals are fine. I dont do water changes as much as I did at first, maybe once a week or every other week. The water quality has been better since I got the wet/dry sump + Refugium. Thank you for the advice.
1stly remove piece of LR which the pest is attached to and place into a dish of tank water. Using a syringe inject the amenone in several places with vinegar making sure you pump it full of the stuff. Leave for around an hour for the anemone to die and detatch then scrape rock with razor where it's foot was. Wash rock with clean tank water and replace in tank. Discard vinegar water and dead anemone. Safety: wear latex gloves, goggles, do not get vinegar in tank and watch out for stabs!Good luck!
If you pull it out while it's still in the tank it'll regenerate from where the foot was attached and possibly in multiples. Plus that would release toxins into your tank.
Hi, zzman33 you're right about the dvd. It is a must have, I have a collection of dvds and books but this one is the only one you'll ever need. By the way Limpit is right about the aiptasia, this anemone and majano anemones will grow fast and spread pretty quickly. They can sting other corals at contact and damage / kill them. I will post a solution on a seperate comment...
Use reef crystals salt. Protein skimmer. 3 reef is a great reef forum. Get rid of the canister filter. Post more videos. Email me with any q's. I am missionsix66 on 3reef as well. I think you'll go a long way in this hobby. You are already pretty knowledgeable.
You should join a Fish Forum, you learn alot, also some of those test are inaccurate what you should invest is in a refractometer i have a year in the hobby but im still a newbee also by regular water canges you get trace elements that your tank needs so you dont have to add all kinds of chemicals althoug everyone has their own tachnique...Nice Tank:>
I have a Hati pink tip anemone and a Bubble tip anemone;) maybe u need more live rock and or find a good clown fish that will help ur anemones acclimiate better. Also if your going to have a reef tank you shouldnt have alot of fish because their will be to stressfull for the corals because of the waste they produce. also what kind of protien skimmer you use.
YOU SHOULD PUT A SCHOOL OF DOLPHINS KALABANGA DUDE!!!

I've read that soft corals (like your finger leather) are toxic to LPS corals.
pbnjtx 3 years ago
they arent, tons of reefers have mixed reefs with no problems
DaytonaRoadster 2 years ago
True, not so much with LPS, but I've heard more than a few people say they can't keep SPS because of their softies. Running carbon helps.
