  • yamaoka sounds like a calm japanese warlord

  • I can't believe i finished this game 5 times from 10 years ago!

  • I was a big fan of resident evil but when I go back to the old games I just can't get into it anymore, Silent Hill 2 though...I still get scared and caught up in James' story

  • I've noticed in the PS2 version of SH2 that Pyramid Head makes the same grunting noises as James does whenever he wields the Great Knife. (As in, the noise he makes is the exact same noise - it sounds like James.) I'm wondering if this was done on purpose.

  • i have this from the Metal Gear Solid 2 bonus disc lol

  • If only Masahiro would sell his art he doesn't need it.

  • Akira is amazing coz when I play SH for the first time I'm crouchd over using the controller 2 cover my eyes. & the entire time I'm like I hate this game I dont wanna play any more coz it does such an amazing job at freakin me out & getting under my skin. The music & sound is phenomenal.Wut rele freaks me out r the sounds that r just there, like a glass breakin or breathin. They never amount 2 anything but I expect them 2 and that's totally freaky. SILENCE! Even worse at freaking me out. EPICNESS

  • Ahhhh <3 I remember the day when Pyramid head wasn't a tall musclebound thing <3

  • i think its safe to say that the entire original team silent were the best at what they did,its just too bad they dont make them anymore :'(

  • Comment removed

  • This is true silent hill. I won't ever even play homecoming. That's not silent hill as far as i'm concerned.

  • i bet Kanye West couldnt do that =D AKIRA IS AWSUM

  • @JapaneseAnimationMan why would you even bring up that hack's name?

  • The subtitles are near impossible to read due to data compression.

  • It was the sounds...the sounds...they were everywhere...and nowhere... Liberate tutam me ex inferis

  • what is that last word at 1:33?

  • @xbreakthehabitx Straightjacket

  • I'm going to miss hearing YOUR music in a Silent Hill game Akira Yamaoka. Hopefully you'll come back and do some more Silent Hill someday....someday.... It makes me so sad that I want to cry... Your music is soooo amazing. It just fits perfect with the stories and games. I also wish for Silent Hill to go back to the way they use to be....with a little bit of a fresh feel and new to it.

  • yamaoka its my musical of game hero!!

  • @slovan I respect your opinion...but i have to say, you're not the only one who think that way...lots of people say that same old shit about it...and they make me feel hell of good to be one of the few who truly see this masterpiece. The more like you...the best for me. In other words...Stick your opinion deep in your asshole.

  • @slovan Video games are a form of art. Art is genius. Therefore, Silent Hill 2 is genius.

  • @slovan why u watch this if u no like games?

  • @sage43110 Me like games, me like games very much.

  • @slovan I feel very sorry for you if you don't see this game, or certain other games, as art. What a shame.

  • @slovan It takes a genius to make a game like this you have to be creative and original.

  • people feel something listening to your music Yamaoka?

    i'd have to agree :)

  • Totally agree with yamaoka´s opnion about resident evil´s sound effects, they are justo too formal, silent hill´s sound effects are so strange and unhuman that really scares you...

  • holy crap japan made this hmmm that cool

  • Theres no more Team Silent...Now its just stupid Team Silence, those bastards >_>

  • Amazing...

  • Yamaoka is a genius!

  • the whole team are amazing =D

  • oh yeah, those sounds did suprise me, especially whenthe freaking lying figures rolle out from under the cars, nearly shat myself

  • Anyone know where part 4/4 is please?

  • Based on the movements of drunk people. lol. Masahiro is such a genius. I love his work

  • this piece of shit has to be in HD!!!! I can´t read the fucking pixelated text...and it also contrasts with the fucking background!!!, come on!!! it´s silent hill!!! do something!!!

  • @getthefuckaoutmyway If you cannot read that you are just stupid. This was the quality of the original disk. HD was not something often seen then.

  • @getthefuckaoutmyway Agreed, but the quality of the video I uploaded isn't much better than this. If re-uploaded, it wouldn't look a lot better. If you want, I can send you a link where you can download the full 32min video.

  • Please help me!

At 2:56,what is the pencil use?

    Please help me!

    Thank you!

    SH FOR EVER!!

  • HUNDREDS of footstep sounds.

None of that clomp-clomp-clomp nonsense you have to endure in the newer Silent Hills.

  • akira is a god damn genius. he has inspired me immensely as a sound designer and dark ambient composure. look at these talented men at work. just amazing. they were creating art. that's the difference.

  • wait woah? pyramid head is the gem of silent hill 2! it's the original badass rape monster that chases you down and startles you randomly during the game. i expected them to give him a little bit more spotlight,or atleast call him by his name and not "triangular headed monster"

  • @orgad His name is Red Triangle Thing. Pyramid Head is the American Version. In some code is is also called Red Triangle Thing.

  • triangle head? FOOL its pyramid head!

  • very good!

  • I want to know why Team Silent broke up. Were they just so pissed off at each other after 4 they don't want to work together anymore? Did they want to much money for future games? Whatever the reason would it be to much to just tell us?

  • those are awesome pants

  • All these 3 people need pats on the back!

  • Wow! Those switches actualy did move! In

    5:57

  • Clever switches XD

  • Oh ya! How strange! Maybe its some sort of program that makes those switches move.

  • look in 5:57 they move alone !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Akira is awesome. He did a magnificent job with this game . One of my favorites

  • It was reportedly designed to appear painful to wear, suggesting that it serves as some kind of punishment. In interviews with the chief artist responsible for creating the character (found on the Silent Hill 2 bonus DVD) it is stated that the initial thought process behind the pyramid shaped helm was to create an iconography of "pain". In other accounts the helmet has been described as an elaborate executioner's mask. its for pyramid head :3

  • silent hill 2 is probably my fav game ever, its pretty much flawless in my eyes. but having said that they seem kinda really cocky in this making of =P

  • I wanna see the face of pyramid head XD

  • that guy looks a little like bash from ff xii !!!!

  • Piramyd head doesn't have any head beacuse when they were Creating him they just Destroyed it by putting the two parts of triangle together , you can even see that in one of Silent hill homecoming ending video.

  • @Dk1for4all Speaking as someone who's done 3D modelling for years, unless Pyramid Head's pyramid head was ever meant to be removed, having the head modelled beneath it would take up memory pointlessley in-game. Something Team Team Silent, would have realised and changed, as they're perfectionists. Sadly, TS stopped making Silent Hill after 4. Therefore, the talentless company who made Homecoming WOULD have done everything half-arsed during development. Because they're idiots.

  • @darhq

I'm no expert on graphics , i only told you about fabulary meaning how Piramyd head is created , Silent hill is very scary game , i stopped at a hospital , Beacuse of Sunny days...

  • I always feel something when I listen to Theme of Laura. it makes me feel sad yet happy at the same time

  • I always caution myself when I think of listening to the Silent Hill2 soundtrack.

...Yea and mostly go ahead and sit there listening to it for an hour and a half. Under the skin; tell me about it.

  • Akira Yamaoka Rocks! I love his work!

  • love his suff

  • His score is among the best the games!

  • Akira is AMAZING :D

  • Hahaha resident evil sounds are formal, they got OWNED:)

  • What was the designer using to draw Pyramid Head? I recognised a grey copic marker, and he used a red pencil, but does anyone know the two other pens he was using?

  • i think it was a MIX CHARCOAL INX GRAPHITE pencil with colors......you can actually find it at artists shop...........but i ain't sure of it :D////it's just look like :D

  • Thanks so much. ^^

  • First he's using a pencil to sketch up the figure, then create the outline by using an ink pen. Then Applies shade and tone with to graphic markers. One light grey and one earth red. Search for TRIA or Pantone markersfor example.

  • pyramid schlong

  • 0:42 I really thought in Silent Hill 2, "Hey, lady, come back!" because the patient demon had lady legs...Ha ha ha...

I love Silent Hill even more when I watch the "making of" videos, which I thought was impossible, but. =3

  • Silent Hill and Resident Evil that like two big family with different thing.

  • Ito and Akira are fucking geniuses, if it wasn't for them Silent Hill would suck. Those monster designs and the music/sounds are just pure epicness

  • Pyramid Head! :D

  • I was always a big Resident Evil fan always have been still am but got a bit more into Silent Hill cuz of its disturbing creatures and such deep, crazy storyline I also recently got really into Siren which is also by team silent

  • "pretty formal" resident evil sounds lol UH OH HE'S CALLIN THEM OUT!

  • thanks Yamaoka,You are the best in the sound effects,Silent hill better then resident evil sounds thats for sure

  • you have very very RIGHTTTTTTTTTTT serenasab

  • @serenasab Agreed, but still they're both great franchises... at least, were great!

  • my name is rain :D

  • nobody cares

  • do u know rain. akira yamaoka looks like rain. a korean superstar.

  • I love the monsters of silent hill. They sure know how to scare the crap outta me xD

  • Akira Yamaoka is bad ass! He makes damn good music for silent hill by fitting music at the right moments. And it's true what he said about Resident Evil, the sounds that the monsters make will sound kind of obvious and formal... but in silent hill, he wanted them to make some strange unusual haunting noises.

  • yeah,he's a genious,i love the game and the soundtrack...

  • Akira Yamaoka is a friggin genious. I dig his music.

    7:47 Silence is sometimes deafening.

  • 3 days to compose theme of laura?!?!?!?! Shit thats fast

  • I think Yamaoka takes dope sometimes. Where else can you get those sorts of inspirations.

  • lol i think its sommert abit more then that ;)

  • i love akira yamokas music

  • この男は大芸術家です

  • Japanese sure do have amazingly vivid imaginations much more so than lame ass United States, sad to say.

  • i dont think is okay to be racist

  • Then you're a stupid Wapanese- AND ethnicist. :D

  • can some one write for me wich artist he means at 2.31 ??

  • franacis bacon, excellent artist

  • Akira is probably the best video game music composer i have ever seen.

  • He is. The best there ever was.

  • Akira has the best music I have ever heard in a game. The music is one of the most important things that makes this game great.

  • look at 5:59, those knobs were moving on their own.

  • moved by the computer :D which the man si on........yay! im so retarded

  • GO ITO!

  • It looks like all the artists were really young.

  • Akira is my fav music composer <3333

  • Silent Hill 4 was ok. Of course it can't stand against SH2 or 3. Those were brilliant. Origins was not so good. And don't expect Homecoming to be the best ever. Silent Team is not making the game this time. That's the team who made all the other silent hills.

  • homecoming should be better gameplay wise, but not in terms of presentation.

  • i can't read his subtitles.. can you make this high quality?

  • part 2 is just fucking brilliant!

  • 2 is probably up in the top with the best games of the series. I dunno what they were smoking with origins or four, there didn't seem to be nearly as much depth as they put in with this one. I hope they picked up their act with homecoming.

  • The creators of SH went from japanese to american, i think sometime around four actually, maybe that explains it, then they got the hang of how SH works in homecoming? (never heard of it tbh lol)

  • Silent Hill 4 was never really meant to be a Silent Hill game, so forgive them.

Silent Hill Origins was made by Americans...

  • I like Silent Hill: Origins and 4.

    Homecoming is a different story.

  • yea but origins is pretty scary too eventhough it was made by americans, not bad.

but SH 5 starting to lack of it.

  • totally agree, silent hill origins wasnt bad considering it wasnt made by team silent, but SH 5 was sooo different from a SH game, i hated that fact

  • The only positive thing I can say about SH5 is, Alex's character was actually believable for me. He showed, anger/pain/anguish/sadness. Like other SH characters. That and there were a few plot twists I hadn't forseen. I liked that. And that only.

The atmosphere is okay, but the other characters were bland and I hated the fact that Pyrmaid Head was there. He had no need to be in that game, really.

  • yeah alot of people didn't like that. But one thing I don't think is fare is that people knock SH5 ignoring the fact that it was(gameplay wise)the best Silent Hill sequel that came out after SH1. Everything from pacing, to puzzles(it actually returned to SH1's riddle and brain teasing puzzles rather than having to fetch a key for this door or whatever)to combat, to control was better than all the Silent Hills after the original. It was a great game, but not a great Silent Hill experience

  • @Clarie011791 I felt like the twist in Homecoming was ripping off of the twist in SH2, if you know what i mean. Both James and Alex repressed the memory of killing someone (even if Alex didn't kill his little bro on purpose, unlike James).

  • @Sceptorful Yeah, I undertand, I think I just felt a slight link to him because I've been through harsh favoritism with my military father. I mean, obviously I didn't kill the person who was pretty much my Josh, but she was dad's favorite and I got the shaft to most things. It's a sibling thing, I know, but it doesn't change the fact that it still hurts alot. So I may be bias about Homecoming just for those reasons.

  • @Clarie011791 I definitely understand what you're saying. Must be hard.

  • The enemy sounds in SH4 were a bit odd. The burping patients in the hospitals, and the cheetah sound from the dogs.

  • Akira is awesome

  • iol

  • @2:28 through 2:35

those paintings looked both disturbing, yet amazing.

  • akira great

  • The guitar theme for this game reminds me of the music they play in FLCL a lot!

  • Those guys are The Pillows. Them and Akira are every different...

  • TEH GAME RULZ!To bad the video is somewhat distorted/pixeled.

  • i love the musicians esp strat copy

    the whole game series rocks

  • Pyramid head is one of the creepiest characters ever, pervertly and macabrousingly great.

  • i also think that silence its a scary sound because our imagination will start running wild

  • Silent Hill 2 is the best in the series. No doubt about it.

  • Agreed, Silent hill 2 is the best. The series went downhill after it. It feels the developers didn't put as much time and detail into the other games.

  • I disagree. the series went downhill with origins. I enjoyed every single one of the other games, including the room, and I think both 3 and 4 had great design level, great ideas, its just that some people cant stand the idea of a silent hill game not having much gamepaly in the town itself, but we should enjoy it by the experience the producers wanted us to have, not by wether they ook just like the previous games.

  • 4 had alot of thought and it was very innovative. the only reason it sucked was cuz it strayed to far away from the rest. the level designs were also generally brighter but they probably put alot of time and detail into that game. so even though i myself didnt like it, i give them respect for it.

  • Even though i never in my life played the Silent Hill 2 game(watched alot of gameplays), i enjoyed my most fav Silent Hill 1 game many many times. In fact, yesetrday was my casual "Silent Hill Sunday", played allll night!!!! YEAAHH!!!!@!!1

  • silent hill 2 is my all time favorite silent hill.

  • This game is great! May Fave and definitive a piece of Art!

  • love this game!

  • What? I couldn't understand the pyramid head part :( the letters are all pixeled X_X...can someone help?

  • The triangle has right angles and acute angles, their sharpness suggests the possibilty of pain. And the triangle shape aslo helps explain the monster's role in the game.

  • everybody of team silent is a genious

  • Couldn`t imagine, that husky voice from Akira Yamaoka.

  • the monster designer guy is a genuis

  • i agree

  • me too

  • Akira Yamaoka!

  • I knew it! I thought some of the monster design from SH was somehow influenced by Francis Bacon artwork!

  • i love this game dude

  • the guitar melody sounds exactly like utada hikaru's "be my last", even the strumming pattern ^___^
