I now have this on DVD. I saw this at The Prospect theater in The Bronx during my days in the 8th grade at I.S. 74. Oh,shit. My bad. I fucking LOVE this movie! Huge fan of Linda Blair and I love these 80s exploitation/revenge movies... you can call them sexist and juvenile, but it's still better than a lot of garbage they release nowadays. Got an original VHS release of this that's still in okay shape.

This exploitation nugget had a SHITLOAD of trouble with the British Film Censors back in the '80s; first they banned it outright. Then the distributor cut TEN MINUTES out of it and the censor still banned it! Third time lucky; distributor cut a further two minutes and the censor FINALLY passed it....after cutting out a further two minutes! Speaking of CLASS OF 1984: that was also banned in the UK, after four minutes of cuts!

I absolutely love this movie, one of my top favorites. Hate that these style of films are pretty looked down upon anymore.

I discovered this film while exploring the hefty amount of never-rented 80s videotapes at our local Hollywood Video before it shut down. Jerks wouldn't sell me their copy, like anyone was going to miss it. I found a copy later on for a few bucks at a vintage movie/video game store a couple towns over.

John Vernon has the single greatest line in this: "Go fuck an iceberg!"

I bought a copy of this movie on VHS tape for $1 in the "used" bin at a video store. I have watched it more times than I care to admit, its just a great B movie. The rape scene is kinda brutal though, but some of the violence is so over the top you can't help but laughing. "Here comes the bride, all dressed in red" LOL

Only thing is it's an NTSC to PAL conversion, bleh. If that doesn't bother you though, you can probably grab one on Amazon UK or eBay for a more reasonable price than the out of print BCI release.

The bottom line is you don't really have to see a very violent sence like to know its happening

When I was a little girl back in the 80's my babysitter used to talk about how "Tuff Turf" and especially "Savage Streets" were here favorite movies. When I was a little older I spotted a VHS copy at my local rental place and decided to see what all the hype was about. I'm happy I did because I thought this movie was awesome if not a bit disturbing at times. I've been impatiently waiting for the new special edition DVD to come out in September. Don't buy that VHS transfer to DVD crap!

The DVd will be out in a month or so with some nice extras done by Red Shirt Prod(aka Michael Felsher). Yeah,stay away from that Substance DVD since it is just a VHs transfer they are charging $22 for. The new DVD release will have some nice Danny Steinman,Linnea and Linda Blair interviews. Also,the FInal Exam and Massacre At Central High DVDs will have nice extras as well.

The trailer for Savage Streets is on 42nd Street Forever Vol.3. The DVD is out and you can get it cheap from various places. I am so glad Final Exam and Massacre are coming to DVD soon. Two of my favorites. Hope there are some extras.

It does have a DVD release from New Star Video, but avoid it at ALL COSTS unless you don't already own it on VHS (it looks exactly like the VHS and it's over-priced) and can't wait for the Deimos/BCI Eclipse release coming in the near future. They're releasing FINAL EXAM and MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH to DVD as well! I just hope that SAVAGE STREETS looks as good as this trailer...or hopefully a little bit better. I wonder if there's a dirty version of this trailer out there somewhere.
