  • Marie Curie's death. . . XD I didn't see that one coming when you were talking about radiation

  • im 12 and what is this?

  • Comment removed

  • I love how, with the IR cam, he looks like he has a mustach and goatee. Evil Roo!

  • Would it be possible for the digital receptive image on the infared camera to block out a particular individual spontaneously?

  • um next time can u not make it 30 seconds so i can actually understand it please?

  • canu please slow down i really have no idea what you are saying

  • thumbs up if you're an electrical engineering major, or engineering major, and actually understand what he is talking about

  • UR HURTING MY BRAIN!!!!!!!

  • I should ask my science teacher about the kinect, see what he knows :D

  • Great video. You explain a lot of stuff to the average viewer. Keep up the good work !

  • thumbs up if you have no idea what the fuck this guy is taliking about. :)

  • EXPLOASHUN!1!! lol

  • Having to work with microsoft software for a long time i can say i expect the kinect software to have the BSOD

  • You know, the USB cable packaged with Rocksmith would be a good topic for this show. I have no clue how it works.

  • But one question. Is it any good and is it worth the crap loads of money?

  • @Eatmyassproductions It's actually really really cheap considering the technology behind.

  • 2:00 - If you wanna add something that'll make it attractive to the modern public, its called dubstep. Everyone loves that bs, so ya....FYI. ^_^

  • i like smart people that can explains everything , good job their

  • just an amazing video., i doubt if even microsoft can come up with such a clear explanation :)

  • someway on the video i hear braid music

  • I learned a lot more about Kinect from this video than I did from anywhere else.

  • Again. As is with the Move, there's a delay in reading input. This kills any chance of playing any real games and hardcore gamers won't really care about anything like this. I mean, when certain gamers nitpick about sub 100 ms response times, the Kinect's obviously perceptible delay makes it useless.

  • so... an updated eye toy?

  • Is it possible if you can talk in a video about how holographic imaging works?

  • its seems cool but :/ its microsoft :/ LOL

  • I just noticed that 13.20% of youtube's videos are about people like angry girlfriends or wifes that just break xboxs and the person who BOUGHT the XBOX just go "ok... ill go buy a new one". Like really... They are priced at $200 usd (very fordable to some) if Microsoft really wanted to they can price it at $500. People we are in the twenty-first century, why are we breaking a bunch of xboxs and putting them on youtbue.

  • EXPLOSION!!!1!

  • its funny...a shit load of pple play!! but they dnt know how the hell it works.

  • Braid music. Oh yeah.

  • Fable music :D

  • I would love to see mac make a game!

  • @xsaneog More like apple. And they tried on the videogame- (console, actually) market but failed miserably.

  • I don't pay much attention in Physics, do I?

  • Although I admit that the Kinect is a fairly interesting device, I disagree with it being a 'revolution' or a 'breakthrough'. Considering that Sony came out with the Playstation Eye a couple years ago, which worked on the same principles as the Kinect. It sold terribly, but was, in fact, what the Kinect is. I hope at some point the fans realize this and start calling the kinect something that pays tribute to the Eye.

  • They will squander this tech and imitate the compition, like allways. Why not make a blockbuster title with fully implemented kinic like future soilder, where u can guesture base moves life stop (hand up palm open) andvance (waves hands forward) you can use a gun from any shooting game and your actually limbs for the guesture just to add more depth to games makeing it more immersive. Image a game like 10 hammers fully guesture based, then take that a step further by implimenting that in to GRFS

  • ya my mom said take out the roast in 15 minuites so i waited a litle then typed in 11 min video in the search bar this came up...

  • the first thig came to mind was Visa :P

  • During the early-mid 90's, there were games that on the surface looked similar (but more primitive) in the arcade, where you would stand in front of a camera, and it would read your position in the room, and let you interact with the games. Did these use a similar basic system? (They did of course not calculate your skeletal structure, simply your position relative to the camera(s?)).

  • Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I think my brain exploded.

  • OK my next Life goal is to understand everything you say in this video lol. I'm actually really interested in this :D

  • the guy who made this video is THE MAN !! amazing video !

  • u r the legend

  • Whay a Halo song?

  • so in english it .......?

  • great video.

  • am i hearing halo backround music

  • no life

  • Also I palyed the "sport" game during my recent vacation and i was amazed at the 10 pin bowling , really realistic and the first game I have ever played with the family at the same time, great stuff!

  • Mate that was a great laymans way of explaining what is a great invention, thank you.

  • @ES11681 I like how you ask if he ever had a girlfriend, when you can't spell worth shit. That makes anyone reading you comment think that you're a special-needs squirrel, and no one wants to date anything of your kind... Be helpful and never breed unprotected.

  • I love how people think when they come onto a video that explains how a complex video games system works there won't be any 'big nerdy words' in it. Seriously people, it's common sense.

This was a very informative and entertaining video. :3

  • dude you bored me after 6 seconds man get a life

  • @cardiel1313 You're not loved enough.

  • That's ur room?? have u ever had girlfriend?? a real one?

  • You are possible the biggest tool to ever walk the earth.

  • fuck the kincet its just pisses me off

  • 1:30 ok... u lost me...

1:35 this is ok i guess

    1:40 what the mcshit???

    1:50 i understand...*phones friend* -_-* (slaps forehead)

  • It is interesting that whenever I search for how a new technology in gaming works, you come up! Your videos are great, keep it up!

  • I completely understand it now

  • I tried it out... It was sooo good! There was no lag for me!!

  • And people say that kinect is a ripoff of eyetoy.

If you understand this video you can understand that just because both use cameras doesn't make them the same. Kinect has way more technology than eyetoy.

  • Is that the original Fable music in the background, or am I just crazy?

  • @TheKingstermation i think you will find that it is the halo theme song :-P

  • @11hired0gun0dark11

Well, he switches songs a lot in the video. At one point I could of sworn it was a Fable song. xD

    Don't mess with a nerd! :P

  • ur a smart guy! great vid dude! score some kinect playin chicks! :)

  • 8:28 PELVIC THRUST

  • got to admit - the Kinect doesn't excite me as a video game tool - but I'm still really impressed with all the technology behind it - the majority of which I didn't realise until watching this video - so many thanks to you mr graywolf person :)

  • beast

  • can you use the controller just to play cod or nfs??

  • dose it work on xbox360 old one not slim ?

  • Marie Curie-Sklodowska (Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Polish) is from Poland. I'm Polish and I also live in Poland.

  • Haha fable 2 music in the video!xD

  • all im goin to say is PSmove does that better!!!! PS i own kinect and move

  • Before I start I want to say that the Kinect is a huge leap forward in the field of computer/human interaction. That said I have one concern that has come up after some more investigation into how the Kinect works. The "IR Emitter" is actually an infrared laser with an optic over it that splits the laser into hundreds of points of light. The fact is that while the light from the laser isn't visible and doesn't cause a blink reaction prolonged exposure can in fact cause retinal damage.

  • Very informative video. Awesome!

  • Had a chance to demo it, it is preety cool. Controller is very user friendly.

  • @mjjwus since the tag line for Kinect is "You are the controller," are you implying that you're very user friendly? :)

  • The reasons why i would get the Kinect is that its a extremely innovative device, but we still have to wait a while till good games are released.

  • Very informative... I think I was a geek in another life :D Can you tell me where you got that sweet Zelda through the ages poster?

  • ahhhhhh to many long nerdy words in to little time brain overloading

  • halo music anyone

  • EXPLOSION

  • I wander what would happen if the guy without a limb or two tries to play. Or, if a cat or dog walks into the area

  • half a second lag yay

  • im not lying i fell asleep when i was watching this

  • good video, even if i'm not interested in the kinect it's self

  • Brilliantly made video. I wish you had been around back in highschool when we had to listen to someone droning on about this.

  • Oh shit it is watching us!

  • excellent buddy good job...now only if we can get you laid

  • i find the Kinect to be an incredibly interesting piece of technology, but honestly why most we make video games so much more physical?

I mean seriously, you could just play a game with buttons instead of waving your arms and legs around like a spaz.

  • omg i just thought of the best game for this you are a bomb defuser defusing bombs

  • @plastiplane terrorists would love a game like that xD

  • nerd

  • so lets say someone turned the wavelength of the IR emitter up and it was a gamma emitter...could i perhaps become the hulk?.

  • that guy looks like the guy from jizz in my pants by the lonly island

  • why are you wearing sunglasses if nothing shines in your eyes. wouldnt it be a better demonstration that you have no problems looking into the source of ir-light?

  • This show needed an explosion.

  • The technology in Kinect sounds a lot more advanced than in Move or WiiMote but I still can't imagine being fun with anything but basic minigames. Take a first person shooter or a driving sim game (Halo, Forza). Sure its cool to move an imaginary steering wheel but this technology cannot recreate recoil effects of a gun or force feedback of a steering wheel. For those particular reasons I would rather spend $150 on a controller (Steering Wheel). It's a gimmick that was designed to be a cash cow.

  • did you hear the halo3 theme

  • Wow that's awesome : O!

I still don't want a Kinect but it's technical aspects are extremely interesting. And here I was thinking that it was all Black Magic and virgin sacrifices.

  • @SomeThomas Well it's Produced by Microsoft so it might still have a bit of Black magic and deal with some virgins.

  • Wow. That was the BEST explanation of Kinect that I have EVER seen =D

    Props to you buddy ^_^

  • hahaha!! we can expect a great quality product from sony or nintendo....but from microsoft¿? HA! i dont think soo, here are 4 words of why i think this way: RED.RING.OF.DEATH.

  • @RyutarocKxxx Technically, the OF in that staetment can't count as a word in this sence, but, eitherway, I atill agree with you.

  • @RyutarocKxxx

every system has its faults...the PS3 overheats and the wii disc drive breaking down...there is no perfect system...other then the SNES...but i will say when it comes to quality nintendo has it with handhelds...you can't fuck with the quality of a nintendo handheld sir

  • LOL @ Marie Curie.

  • The explosion must have been season 2 of 24. Poor George Mason.

  • Your videos are beyond awesome and you are extremely knowledgeable. It's a shame you don't get more viewers because you always make learning something fun.

  • great video keep it up

  • LOL. EXPLOISOUN WUZ FUNNEIEY1

  • when u said explosion you put a 1 and not a !

  • It's really an impressive use of technology.

But I haven't played my Xbox for a WHILE. It's because I simply enjoy the games on the Wii more.

I know...the Wii has some sucky games. But they also have some GREAT games. Namely Metroid, Mario Galaxy, and Mad World.

If I do get the Kinect, it'll have to wait until some cooler games come out.

And not just one's that allow me to pet a virtual tiger.

  • Mind = blown.

Good video, Roo. These videos are always cool to watch, and that explosion just made me laugh.

  • first joke coming up right now: it works as well as the red ring of death :) YAY

  • @rockbandrummer9 The red ring of death did technically work.. ^_^

  • Braid and Fable music is awesome. P.S. great video!

  • Great work Roo! I really enjoy this series and I enjoy your deep technical analysis of the technology at hand.

  • Well that was a very interesting video even though I'm not that much into technology and info about how they work. Simply because too much complicate information makes brains hurt mine.

    Good work anyway.

Also the EXPLOTION made me laugh very much. It was something very unexpected.

  • all you say in this vid is how it works in theory. its not even sure if it actually works

  • @Zonde32 so then i suppose your going to explain it

  • @skugglerthrash explain what

  • Woooh, nice vid man! Love these series, they're really interesting.
