@TheChromeeagle I know. The video never does anything justice. Nothing beats actually being there. However, these type of cicadas aren't the loudest. There are other species that make different sounds that are much louder than the ones in the video here. Almost deafening.
Hi, I just looking for a cicada sound video and i got with yours, I liked your The year of the Cicadas video and some others more, & I like you like of smurfs too. Have a nice day.
I've noticed there are a lot less of them this time than the last time in 1991. We used to have them all over in the neighborhoods in Miller Place. I drove through my old neighborhood there that same day after I left the pine barrens and I saw NONE of them in the area. It seems as though they are only in wooded area now.
That's really a shame. They aren't harmful, I wish people would understand that and just leave them alone. They waited 17 years to come up for only a few short weeks in the sun. People need to learn to just let them be.
It's almost like listening them in stereo! I mean that in a good way. I like the sound myself. Insects can really be amazing when you study them. Do you agree with that or not Shane? There's no wrong answers here. Just
I agree, they are very fascinating. That is why I drove all the way to the Pine Barrens so that I could see them and make this video. It was great fun. Yeah, they are really that loud, they put out some sound. Check out the other Cicadas videos I have, I made a long one talking all about it and have a few more short ones up. :)
This year the Cicadas only seem to be deep in the woods and they are very spotty in a few places. They aren't everywhere. I can't hear them from where I live. So it's all good.
Doesn't do them justice... the are extremely loud.

I used to pick them up when I was younger and then "launch" them. But for some reason we dont have cicadas in Nassau county anymore.

I think that may have to do with all the pesticide use.
